Look . .

I know I appear to be, and am in fact, calling into question, "why Price seems to have a habit of alluding to seemingly serious physical difficulties, that MIGHT explain bad outings?"

I know that this perspective of mine suggests that Price 'seems to' have a habit of doing this. He is MOST LIKELY being nothing but honest, but I'm simply pointing out how it could be interpreted by many. I personally don't believe that he purposefully is trying to put forward 'excuses' for failure, but I can easily see how many might feel that way.

Look, I love honestly as much as anybody, but I mainly appreciate when a competitor simply falls on his sword, and says nothing more than, "I sucked tonight. No excuse. I simply sucked."

If you golf, you know the guy who always comes up with a heretofor unspoken ailment that might explain why he's shanking and slicing the hell out of the ball yet again.... You had a shyte day too, so you just don't want to hear their oh so subtle excuses again. All you want to hear is them laugh it off, & say, "Jesus I sucked today! 19th hole anybody?"

Still . . I want him back 100%! I'm pulling once again for him 110%!

He's OUR GUY, and yes.... The Sox need him as much as any guy on this team!

Having said that, I don't at all feel disloyal for 'wondering' privately, and musing quietly amongst a few friends (you schmucks) ;) , about my personal thoughts.

Nonsense.

He has said and done some dumb-ass things while here.

He remains one of the most competitive starting pitchers in baseball.

he's probably back next Tuesday. You trying to take a sensible approach on here these days is just not acceptable. Now we get to see the Price haters at work once again. Maybe we just have too much good pitching right now to think that a guy we just don't like could ever help us. lol

Some of the posts on this thread are a f***ing joke... Price isn't a pussy, and the team is better with him.

and that is all that needs to be said.

Price pretty much did that his entire first season with the Red Sox. While he was pretty good, he was also not the ace that we were all expecting, and he took a lot of criticism for it. He made no excuses. He simply said that he didn't execute and that he would have to do better next time.

A very optimistic crowd. A 12-2 start to the season will help pump out the dopamine. Almost 78% of the respondents expect Price to make his next start or miss just 1 start.

and last year?

Look . . . I'm pulling like hell for the guy, but I'm not sticking my head in the sand.

I've met most Red Sox players at one time or another, and Price certainly appears to be one of the .... "moodiest." He's got a MAJOR LEAGUE chip on his shoulder? I'm sorry, but from many a comment I've heard from him, he seems to have a hard on for Boston?

He also seems ... last year especially .... to be THAT GUY with a ready subtle excuse when things go badly for him ? ? ?

I won't pretend to get in his head, but he seems like a good time Charlie golfer, with a ready excuse?

Having said that, we NEED HIM on this team! I WANT HIM on this team! We GO NOWHERE without him on this team. I admit to being ULTRA SENSITIVE to the ******** "anti-Boston" sports ********!!!!! and I see Price as buying into it a bit.

I frankly don't buy the 'nebulous' injury ********. He's an emotional guy, and needs his arss wiped a bit. I don't have to wipe it here.

...... ok. Got that out of my system! Now.... go get 'em Pricey! I got your back!!!!!!! You may be a bit of a head case, but you're OUR head case!!! I got your back!

I know it doesn't seem like it, BUT I love this guy WHEN he's with our team!

Last year he was injured. Do you not believe that?

And when he came back, he was willing to do whatever the team needed him to do. He pitched out of the bullpen with no complaint.

He seems a little overly sensitive to the criticisms that he reads in the press and on social media. But I don't see him as a player who makes excuses for his performance.

Frankly? No. His 'injury' came about SUDDENLY & DIRECTLY after the s*** HIT THE FAN with Eck.

Again, it was pretty nebulous.

Price said himself that it was nothing serious. He said it was not like the other injury.... yet it went on for ? ? ? 2 months? I've lost track of how long.

Directly after the Eck explosion, Price misses his start AT THE LAST MINUTE. LITERALLY at the last minute, after hearing nothing about him even having a physical problem. Not even a whisper. He says later that day that it's nothing. No big deal.

The s*** continues to hit the fan, and MANY question the timing after the dust up with Eck. Boston Sports Radio goes nuts with it.

Sorry! To me it absolutely seemed like Price was subtly saying to Boston & Boston Sports Radio, "Fine. You wast to hammer the s*** out of me for this. Question me??? I'll show you injury. I definitely feel something not 100% right, and now I'm going to make 100% sure that I'm 100% before I come back!"

Just my opinion, and that's exactly how I read it last year.

Furthermore, There is zero doubt in my mind that Price was a negative attitude guy on this team last year. I believe it impacted too many of the young guys. I hope like hell he's got that 100% out of his system! If not, it may be time to trade him.

Let's hope these 'injuries' go away, and he pitches his arss off the rest of the year! I want him back! We need him back. I'm a skeptical guy, but I'm always willing to give a guy a second, third, fourth, 10th shot. So long as he's in a Red Sox uniform. BUT . . . I won't hold back on what I'm really thinking in the back of my mind.

No .... go get 'em Price! Love ya baby!!!! ;)

This may be the craziest thing I've read in a while. No offense, but this is just bananas, and writing words in caps doesn't make it any less crazy.

Do you honestly believe, a team(s) is going to let a perfect healthty player sit out a signifant portion of the season because he says he's injured when he is not? If Price was that unhappy here then why not just pitch good enough to opt out? That narrative makes more sense than yours and that's all you have to begin with, a narrative that makes little sense.

Don't you think teams have X-Rays, CAT-Scans, and MRI's on players? I'm dealing with a workers comp issue right now, an employee can't just delcare themselves unable to work. They have to go see a doctor, and they can have the surgery and go back to work if they wish, they can't just sit at home and get paid for nothing with zero proof of injury.

Also, this did not come out of left field. Price had been dealing with issues since spring training, he had pain for a long time before and it had been festering up. This was in no way shape or form a completely random injury that came out of nowhere as you have claimed. And even if it did, this wouldn't be any less bananas.

Listen, I'm not too happy with how things transpired with Eck and Price last year either, but that doesn't mean we have to throw on the tin hats and go all conspiracy theory about everything.

LOL :0 No offense taken Hugh.

Yes. I do think certain players can milk an injury for all its worth. Yes. I think David "milked" that thing way longer than need be.

Sorry! Just the way I very clearly remember it. You honestly don't recall how that mysteriously re-emerged DIRECTLY after getting the s*** kicked out of him for the Eck thing, after hearing not a word about it before the day of his start?

No worries. If you don't you don't.

Do I doubt that he was not 100%? No. Do I think he took forever to come back from something he said was nowhere near the "issue" in ST? YEP! 100%.

Just the way I see it.

Still looking forward to his quick return!!!!

To be honest, I initially thought that the timing of his injury was rather suspicious as well.

But after having time to think about it rationally, I realized that it really didn't make any sense, especially since Price was on the DL for so long.

Why on earth would you choose to think about it rationally, when it's just as easy to over-react. ;)

Look, the timing was absolutely too perfect. Was something bugging him physically? No doubt. It seems there's always something bugging him when the timing is right.

Do I still think he milked the length of the rehab last year. I just do.

Speaking of thinking "rationally," what was remotely rational about Price jumping Eck on that plane? Humiliating him, and sicking his posse on him? Eck is the best thing going at NESN, and he is hardly tough on players.

What was rational about Price jumping that other reporter a month or thereabouts earlier. Getting in his face, and reading him the riot act? What was remotely rational about that?

Look.... I'm not trying to stir s*** up again about Price. As far as I was concerned, bygones were bygones... Like with Lackey, whom I destroyed, once he came back and went to work in 13, I was over it day 1.

But I'm simply not going to pretend Price doesn't have "issues." The guy is exceptionally emotional, and I absolutely believe he was 150% CAUTIOUS in going on the DL the day the s*** hit the fan with Eck. THE DAY of his next start in Boston. It was predicted that they might hold him off, but he did it for them THAT DAY. Then 1 start turned into the rest of t he year. I guess he could never tell the trainers, "that he 'FELT' good enough to go."

You buy it. I don't. NO WORRIES!

I guess I'm just going to be extra 'CAUTIOUS' with this latest return with Price. I don't want to make a mistake an rush it.

One of the reasons that I do not post in game threads is that emotion rules and I'm afraid of what I might post. LOL

I don't like the way Price treated Eck, but I also think that the incident was overblown. Not that I'm excusing Price's behavior, just that I don't think it was as bad as we were led to believe by the media.

As far as the rest of the stuff, I guess we'll have to disagree. :)

64 degrees at gametime.

Hope to see Price rise to the occasion, and pitch his ass off!

No excuses necessary.... That's how good he will be tonight.

Playing west coast games against east coast teams at 7:00 p.m. is f***ing ridiculous! Start those games at 5:00 p.m. People can get off early to go see the game. 6:00 p.m. at the latest! Besides. These west coast bozos don't watch baseball anyway !

It does appear that way? So, what's the lesson? What is it that Red Sox fans like to discuss? Red Sox? Red Sox drama? Price has certainly provided a good deal of that. He was most definitely very open with his feelings about a number of things last year, and since coming to Boston for that matter. He's now jumped 2 Boston Sports reporters, and does not seem to care for the fans all that much. It seems natural that fans might discuss it when yet another problem with Price pops up.

We paid THE HIGHEST PRICE in red Sox history for an #1 ACE of all ACES, but thus far have gotten a good deal of nebulous excuses, and somewhat less than crystal clear 'injuries.'

Price starts talking 'tingling,' after a horrific outing, & yet again dances around the specifics, and you think guys aren't going to talk about it? He GOES OFF on 2 exceptionally mild Boston Sports Reporters / color guys last year, & you think guys are not going to talk about it? He has injury after injury, generally after a shyte outing, and you think guys aren't going to talk about it?

He. Even says he talked to JDM about how difficult Boston is for certain athletes..... He very clearly embarrassed & mocked Eck last year, and had a posse to join in on it..... He seemed to be cultivating a culture of disdain with a number of young players for the Boston Sports Media & fans (fans to a somewhat lesser degree), which appeared to be exceptionally corrosive? I personally think he was leading our young guys down a very unhealthy path, and it most definitely was not in line with a winning attitude.

I'm ALWAYS willing to turn the page with a guy, and give him a second, third, fourth, 10th chance...., so long as they are a Red Sox player!!! I will again and again with Price!

Still, can we cut the s*** on pretending we have nothing to worry about with the guy!

I hate the bastard. Hope he gets rocked, humiliated, and booed off the field ... well, provided that, say, the RS brass walk into Schwab's, say, where there's some 19-year-old who throws 100 mph with a devastating splitter who's willing to sign for the minimum for 5 years and turns out to win 30 games a year and ... and ... and ... You know, under that condition.

!

At some point. for whatever reason, the fact that a posse joined in with him might be interpreted that Eck is not all that wildly popular among Sox players. You might get the nicest impression about him on NESN, but do you ever wonder why that posse joined in once Eck was off camera?

I don't know any of those answers either. But I do think the question needs to be asked.

I do disagree that Price is cultivating a culture that is "not in line with a winning attitude", as you put it. The Sox have won the AL East twice in two seasons since he got here and are off to a terrific start this year. What is it about this team that doesn't scream "winning attitude"? Is it all the winning?

Honestly, this is all I want from Price. Throw that ball. Pitch the s*** out of it like tonight.... & shut our whiny arsses up.

You just like to worry and can work yourself into a frenzy when the Sox are 14-2 and Price hasn't missed a start. Pretty impressive that you can do that, actually.
