It's funny how we can list all the bad things that happened last year and talk like nothing that bad could happen this year.

I drafted a near all Yankee team in fantasy this season. The Kimmi fantasy jinx is on. You all can thank me later.

I think I'm one of the only Sox fans here who will concede that the Yanks should be the favorite on paper.

I think we need more X factors to go our way than you do.

It does happen, though.

I also think that the Yankees are the favorites on paper.

However, I am not ready to just concede the division to them, as some seem to think it's a foregone conclusion.

The Red Sox players will have something to say about that.

Man oh man are we ever in for it. Kind of looks like we really stink huh - according to your very careful assessment. Oh well, I just don't think that we are going to be as bad as you want people here to believe. Let the games begin I say.

Don't let Jacko rain on your parade.

I think he's scared of the Red Sox and trying to convince himself otherwise. ;)

His grandfather, Dad and brother were all big leaguers. Find me someone with a better baseball pedigree

Then I stand corrected.

He is a lock for Manager Of The Year!

Well I must say it'd be pretty sweet if Boone turns out to be a doofus as a manager.

I don't think there is any way that he could not be a doofus.

the sox 1b combo vs bird. This is all about projection when it comes to the heavier hitting part of your platoon vs a healthy bird. Greg bird is a masher whose swing is custom tailored to yankee stadium. Hanley ramirez is a 30/100 player when healthy, yet he hasn’t been and now he is older. If bird can stay healthy, he wins this by far. He’s a near .900 ops guy with 30hr capability. Problem is, he hasn’t been healthy. Well, he is now, for now. I’m gonna give this another wash with bird getting the upside should he stay healthy and play up to his capability.

lol

I did leave the health caveat for Bird, as was appropriate. I do really like Austin as well, I just want to see him hit righties at the big league level. I have no reservations about his ability to hit left handers.

Greg Bird career stats: OPS of .793 with a total of 20 HRs in two seasons. Wishful thinking...much??

I really think 2018 Aaron Boone has a lot of potential to be to the Yankees what 2012 Bobby Valentine was to the Red Sox. And I can't wait to see if I'm correct. (I mean, I probably am, I almost always am).

20HR in 300 career at bats there genius. Also, his April 2017 was so disastrous that it pulled down his career numbers. He’s a top notch hitter without top notch health.

Not much similarity. Bobby V was a total dick to everyone. Boone has been the opposite. Boone is trying to be a players manager. Bobby V was brought in a disciplinarian after the chicken and beer fiasco

Ah, but it turns out disciplinarian didn't work for the Sox, so in comes Francona's pitching coach, Farrell. And Francona has gone on to real success with the Guardians.

I thought Girardi was pretty good, but what do I know? Maybe Boone is the right guy now. I do believe that most managers are hired to be fired. That is, they are more expendable than players.

When he starts putting up the numbers you claim that he is capable of putting up you might regain a little credibility.

I have played fantasy baseball with the same group of people for many years, longer than I have been on Talksox. I did not play 2 years ago because it really was too stressful and time consuming for me, but the folks I play with talked me into coming back last year.

Greg Bird is the first casualty of the Kimmi jinx.

I do TalkSox, a CBS head to head Fantasy team, a Rotisserie league with and auction draft, A Home run pool, and daily Fanduel. No stress at all, just fun.

Aaron Hicks to the DL, another casualty of the jinx??

I don't have Hicks on my team, nor do I have Stanton, which is why he was able to hit 2 HRs yesterday.

For God's sake Kimmi, how could you not put Stanton on your team?

It is no wonder that she is stressed about fantasy baseball. She has no idea what she is doing.

Trust me, I tried. It's a 13 team league, with several Yankees fans playing. It's the Dem Yanks league from the old board. I drafted as many Yankees as I could reasonably could.

If I didn't know what I was doing, there would be no stress. As they say, ignorance is bliss.
