Go get Arietta NOW !!!

I seriously doubt we go over the maximum penatly limit, but if these last free agents are going to sign for peanuts, maybe signing one would outweigh the tax and pool money/draft penalties.

It reminds me of the Rollie Finger & Joe Rudi time. Then, the dream bubble was punctured by Bowie Kuhn.

No idea ...all I know is our pitching is paper thin and there are very solid options for pittance right now ...why screw around and wait for the all star break to figure this out .

Yeah none of us really knew much about it when it was happening but JD Drew went through something similar with a critically ill child. It affected him in no small way from what I recall.

Did Koji's flight for Japan already depart? If not, send a limo to the airport to snag him!

J.D. had a terrible season that year. His kid was going through torture. I don;t remember the details, but I remember something about a body cast and lots of pain. When that story hit, the fans took it easy on him, and then he hit that Grand Slam in the ALCS. His biggest hit of the season. It would be surprising if under these circumstances that Kimbrel could approach the perfect season that he had last year.

The time to get pitching was before we signed Martinez.

Fireman dave put out the wrong fire unfortunately!

I mean really! Who did not see this coming. We are one pop in price’s elbow away from a major fire!

We would need to move payroll in order to add quality pitching, unless dave convinces someone to sign a one year “prove it” deal for a very low cost.

We needed a power bat. That was the major fire. it burned all last season.

Oh my God notin, I am aware of everything. You truly think that you know more about this gig than Dombrowski does don't you. You are just so full of ******** that I might have to stop communicating with you. That would just be too bad. Just so you know, I'm pretty much full of ******** too.

I don't claim I know more. But don't you find it the least bit questionable that 28 out of 30 teams have signed at least ONE pitcher to a minor league contract. Nearly all of these teams have better pitching prospects than the Sox do, yet they still build depth. (The Dodgers are the other team to not sign a minor league pitching deal. But they also have a couple pitching prospects among the game 's best who are knocking on the door to end majors. )

So it's not just me who sees the point. It's 28 major league GMs. Somehow you're defending one of the two who doesn't, And very likely for no reason beyond blind faith. "Well if Dombrowski did it, it must be right."

Can we assume you'll be ew ally excited when the Sox f o need a pitcher and we roll out the 2018 version of Sean O'Sullivan because that is the bedy option available? Yeah!! Thanks Dave!!

Is this suppose to be the potential game 1,2 and 3 starters for this year? If so, I think we can take Jay Groome out of the pen.

First off, I don't any player, coach, gm, or anybody truly deserves blind allegiance without any question. If there was such a level to be attained, Dave D certainly hasn't reached Bill Belichick status. This guy has what is it, one championship? twenty years ago?

I think he's fine, and very well could put together what amounts to a WS winning team here, but people are batshit crazy if they think none of his moves should be criticized.

Or - crazy thought here - maybe we should see if Groome can have a good season in A-ball before we put him on Full Red Alert for MLB duty in any capacity...

Martinez filled a big need. If Price is healthy, he fills another.

If Price isn't healthy, there could be issues....

Groome doesn't strike me as the type you bring up from A ball and mess up his development. He doesn't have that one stand out tool that might be able to help a team down the stretch, like an elite 101 MPH fastball.

The dude has all the potential in the world but he has a long road developmental wise.

I've been called crazy for even more rational thoughts.

Bogey is still helpless against the slider. We should have had Clint Eastwood scout him. He would have heard that he had "Trouble With The Curve." It is as simple as that and it will keep him from getting to the next level offensively.

Beeks was cut today. He really didn't help himself yesterday.

Along w/ 3 others, right? Not sure who.

True, but others rose to the occaison last year, when Price had issues.

Bogey has looked like s*** on breaking balls 3 times today -- 3 k's and 1 against a lefty!!! Trade him for Machado while he still has a high value for his "potential".

Primarily Fister, who isn't around any more. ..

Not thrilled with Porcello’s performance today against the collection of meatballs that Showalter brought to Fort Myers.

While this is ST I’m not seeing an improvement in Porcello’s performance. Not sure what he is trying to do in order to better this season. He went through a lot of ups and downs —just like last season. He needs to be more consistent.

It is early, but his velocity was down.

Cora spoke with Kimbrel today and Kimbrel said that his daughter is 'doing better'. Nice touch by the team today to wear shirts to show their support for her.

Carson Smith threw and inning today and supposedly looked really good. He could turn out to be huge piece in our pen.

I would have preferred a starting pitcher over Martinez.

First of all notin I kind of missed what you wrote at the end. I don't have blind faith in anyone other than immediate family members. You have a way of trying to twist the of words others for sure. I don't very often agree with you and I like the job that our GM is doing. I've told you this before as well - I will never judge our team decisions by what any other franchise does. I could care less. You are in panic mode nearing hysteria because we haven't as yet signed some over that hill dumpster dog to save the day. Just a little faith notin - you want to call it blind fine.

Do you really think that there is a human alive who would not criticize a GM for what they think is a bad decision. Once again just word play. Believe me I will criticize him when I think that he makes a truly bad decision. To date, I don't think that he has.
