Not signing ohtani is probably desperate dave’s Biggest failure to date.

I swear desperate dave could not get laid in a women's Prison even if he had a hand full of get out of jail free cards on him.

There was limited $$ flexibility - so really it came down to Otani's choice. I can't blame Dombrowski for Otani liking Seattle better. If I were him, I'd probably do the same thing.

Honestly the sushi on the west coast is just a different level

Anaheim is infested with rats though.

He should move to Huntington Beach and take up surfing in his down time. His jersey would sell like hotcakes.

@billbarnwell

Signing Shohei Ohtani really frees the Angels up to make two or three more impossibly bad free agent signings over the next couple of years.

Hooray for stuff happening!

I'd really love to know what swung him to the Angels...

Maybe warmer weather (vs SEA & CHI) and an ability to DH (vs all NL clubs).

LAD has no DH.

SEA already had famous Japanese stars. It ws said that Ohtani wanted to "blaze a new trail" somewhere (my words).

LAA makes sense in that light.

Don't go. You are a normal person. We need those.

I hate to break it to you, but I'm the only normal person on this forum.

From my years of reading and then posting on this forum, I'd have to say this was probably the most accurate statement I've seen on here ha! There are some real odd balls on this fine forum.

Kimmi's the closest thing we have to a normal person on this board.

But when you have 12,700+ posts since Jan 2015 on a baseball message board full of nutjobs, I'm afraid that falls a little shy of 100% normal. :D

LA > SEA > Anaheim ... especially with the traffic on the 5

Spoken like someone who didn’t try to drive from Culver City to Dodgers Stadium. 405 and 10 are worse than 5.

As I said before, you should post more often. You obviously know what you're talking about!

Haha we all have our little oddities!

Sorry - didn't realize who I was dealing with!

You're forgiven my child (despite being far older than me).

Big week for the Angels. First Maitan. Then Ohtani. Can Stanton be next?

Could they afford to realistically add that much payroll? The Angels arent exactly the Oakland A's, but I have always viewed them as pretty conservative, especially after the Pujols signing.

Probably not.

Also I believe they were not on his short list. Although thst was probably an oversight and he'd probably ok the deal...

LAA makes sense for Otani because he has the chance to become their Ace. Their starting rotation isn't exactly full of world beaters. And they are willing to DH him on off days. LA market is also a pretty big market. And for some reason Japanese like West Coast better. The weather, maybe or is it just easier to fly home over the holidays?
