15-30 more inches of rain is expected?

Yes- over the next 3-4 days. They are saying there is no way to know what areas will get more rain and that 50 or more inches is likely in some places (total -not to come).

My spot has gotten about 15, and the water is already up to my door sill. 15 to 30 more will surely flood my downstairs, unless it is slowly spread over 4 days and some of the water can drain out of here.

The problem is this whole area is flat as a pancake and it moves slowly to the ocean. Too slowly.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Other areas near us have gotten 24-30 inches already.

Some perspective: in 2015, Houston got flooded pretty bad. They said it was a once in a 500 year flood.

Lst year Houston received 12-22 inches in the area. Some bayous flooded. Some neighborhoods got hit badly.

They called it a once in a 10,000 year flood.

This storm has blown last year's away already, and we're only half way through it!

Well, you are probably good for an eon after this. Just stay safe, and all the other stuff will eventually get back to normal.

Sandy was a 100 year storm. Katrina was a 100 year storm. Harvey was a 500 year storm. Seem to get a lot of those lately.

Our home is still dry.

No rain last night, but the water just dropped an inch.

It's raining hard right now.

We still have power.

The rain bands are now headed east to west (not south to north), so that's a sign the storm center is moving to the east. We want to be on the west side to avoid heavy rain bands coming off the Gulf.

A year later, it's twice as bad!

Stay safe.

I have a two-story home, so I feel safe, but I'm worried about losing my first floor to flooding.

We have food & water to last over a week.

The water is now up to our porch. We have about 4 inches between a dry and flooded interior.

15-30 inches expected over the next 4 days.

What a mess!

Nice to know Trump is already congratulating himself on a job well done with the Fed response.

No Feds here yet.

Just state and local people with boats.

my thoughts are with you and the other TX citizens brother. stay SAFE.

It is safe to say we all are hoping that things will dry out a little for you and the worst has past. This really is an epic storm for you and yours. Florida in the Venice area where I live in the winter is also flooding, but to a lesser degree. Water levels are eerily close to intruding into homes. Very flat in Florida as well.

Texted one of my old college roommates last night (who also lives in Sugar Land); he said he had gotten about 2 1/2 feet of rain at his house, but all was well so far.

I cannot fathom that much rain.

This whole page puts our Red Sox discussions in perspective, doesn't it?

Not really. I'd rather get hit by a hurricane than have the Sox lose 5 straight!

Be safe, my friend.

Meanwhile in the rainy Pacific Northwest, where I live, I have not witnessed measurable precipitation in 70+ days. I was out of state when Portland received barely measurable precipitation the weekend of August 12-13.

I know that it would be a major hassle if your first floor got flooded, and I hope the water recedes before that happens, but the important thing is the safety of you and your family. I hope the best for you. Be safe.

I know you're kidding, but sometimes the losses feel that bad, don't they? As fans, we do tend to forget that it's just a game.

Thanks, Kimmi.

We're hoping for the best and will be fine.

Water has leveled out here. We're hoping for the best.

It could be days for the water to recede, even if the rain stops completely.

Our cat has been missing for almost 48 hours.

Cross your fingers and hope that the storm continues to move to the east and away from your already flooded area. If the water starts to recede, you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief. We are wishing for the best outcome for you and the many in the area who have gone through so much.

Maybe they meant once in 100 years for the area. Unfortunately, Texas has gotten 2 of them. NY got hit with Sandy in 2012 and the biggest storm before that was the LI Express in 1938. That storm was worse than Sandy (at least for NY). So, I am counting on another 50-60 years before the next major storm.

The water has gone down a few inches overnight. It stopped raining. The forecast calls for some sun by Wed or Thur. I'm very thankful

we came through this without any damage.

Our cat came back this morning after two days out in the flood.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts, prayers and well-wishes. You will not be forgotten.

I am very happy that you came through this safely without too much disruption to your life. I had this mental picture of you posting while floating sown the street in an inflatable boat.

I'm a big cat person (I donate time at my local cat shelter) and I always feel terrible for pets in a crisis like this. They suffer too.

Thanks.

We have two rescued dogs as well. One is a yellow lab that just turned 17! He was skin & bones and at death's door when I found him as a one-year old puppy.

The other is a 6 month old puppy.

Thanks, 700. I think my wife has had that same mental vision in her dreams (nightmares)!

Thanks. The water has fallen another inch or two since this morning. The end is in sight.

We still have about 3-4 feet of water on our street and 1-2 feet on our front lawn.

Glad you got through it OK moon. Also glad to hear about your cat. They can be tough little buggers!

Our last cat went missing for 5 days. She came back all skinny.

This one looks fatter after the 2 days!

Maybe Pablo's family took her in.
