Yankees-Rays series moved to Citi Field due to Irma. This essentially becomes a home series for the Yankees. Before all you Sawx scream about Yankees bias by the MLB, let it be known that the Yankees suggested it be played in Chicago but Tampa asked for it to be in Citi field.. likely because it will draw a lot of fans (mostly Yankees fans) and it will quadruple their annual ticket sales.

Gray wasn't efficient, but we didn't need him to be. Gray has been tremendous since we got him. Worth every prospect

I agree. I think it was a steal.

Gray is an ace who has had injury issues. He looked healthy when the deal went down.

It's shocking to see how many great pitchers have been traded starting with Sale: Quintana, Gray, Darvish and someone else I can't think of right now.

Tanaka since July 1

The ace is back. The HR allowed is still too high in that span (8) but he has been rolling since the weather warmed up. Severino, Gray, Tanaka and CC is a damn good top 4 for a playoff rotation.

Rough one for Tanaka tonight.

Strip everything away and it comes down to business. It makes business sense that it's moved to NY. But we still will give you grief about it.

Tanaka had been good, but last night after the second inning, he couldn't put anyone away. 4 of his first 7 batters were K'd and aside from the solo shot to Mazara, he was getting bad swings and misses. Come the third inning, they weren't missing anything and his put away pitches were getting fouled off. It's as if the splitter and the slider weren't falling or sliding out of the zone. When he doesn't get a batter to chase his breaking pitches, he's going to have a long day

Our old friend Wil Middlebrooks has scored the only run in today's game through 6 innings. It is time for Girardi to mismanage his bullpen and get Texas some insurance.

Irma is serious business and nothing to joke about, but if only it could blow away Tropicana Field without hurting anyone...

So sick of Yankees steamrolling towards a playoff spot. It's maddening.

5-6 in their last 11 is hardly "steam rolling."

They are still 4 games away from not making the playoffs.

(Note" they are -9 from their Pythagorean projected win-loss record.)

Yankees offense is exploding. Judge is starting to wake up. When he starts going the other way with power, he will find himself again. With 2 bombs and a walk, his abysmal second half is actually improving. .191/.353/.404. Even when he is absolutely abysmal, he is still reaching base 35% of the time and his second half OPS is just 20 points lower than the OPS of your best player for the entire season Edited by jacksonianmarch

I know, just feels that way. Every time I look at the results, they've won.

The Yankees have the second best Pythagorean in the AL to the Guardians and are 4 runs back of the dodgers for second place in all of baseball. We have underperformed our pythag mostly because our pen has the most blown saves in baseball and our offense has the tendency to explode for a few games then go silent. This team will stay together, for the most part. I expect Tanaka to opt in. Holliday and CC are probably headed out the door, but we haven't gotten anything out of Holliday of late and we have internal options for CC. Frazier is redundant as well with Headley having a good year, Bird looking healthy and Andujar ready for the bigs. I expect that our team could take an Guardians type explosion next season and run away with the ALE. One can hope

The Yankees look good and really should be leading the division based on run differential, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

According to the Friday report, Jeter, who stands to be in charge of the business and baseball operations of the Marlins when the sale of the team is finalized, asked David Samson to dismiss Hall of Famers Andre Dawson and Tony Perez, as well as Jeff Conine, the former outfielder known as "Mr. Marlin," and 2003 World Series-winning manager Jack McKeon.

Jeter, after first telling Samson he wouldn't be retained -- which was already presumed -- then asked him to inform the four of the moves, because Jeter didn't want to do it, the Herald reported.

And then, Goins hit the grand slam that sealed the victory. Seems to me like he's earned the keys to the city of Boston
