According to the Friday report, Jeter, who stands to be in charge of the business and baseball operations of the Marlins when the sale of the team is finalized, asked David Samson to dismiss Hall of Famers Andre Dawson and Tony Perez, as well as Jeff Conine, the former outfielder known as "Mr. Marlin," and 2003 World Series-winning manager Jack McKeon.

Jeter, after first telling Samson he wouldn't be retained -- which was already presumed -- then asked him to inform the four of the moves, because Jeter didn't want to do it, the Herald reported.

Attaboy Derek!

Well, our slim ALE chances were basically extinguished last night. Tanaka has struggled against the Jays all season and we can never hit Estrada. So be it. We will have a chance to line up either Gray or Severino for the playin game

There's something seriously wrong with Tanaka. Take a look at the pitch Russell Martin homered on. You could see from the moment it left Tanaka's hand that it was on a flat trajectory headed for the middle of the plate like he was just laying it in there.

It's not physical. He is flying open. He corrected it for a stretch in the summer and now he is back to doing it again. When he flies open, his balls are flat and stay up in the zone. When he finishes his pitches, his pitches stay low and drop out of the zone.

If Greg Bird has a healthy 2018, he will be a beast. His swing is beautiful and he has a good eye to boot. I don’t think he ever hits for a high average, but I think he can be a .270 hitter with a high OBP and 30+HR perennially. He’s a huge sleeper for 2018 since he’ll be protected in our lineup

Not seeing anyone post “Aaron Judge exposed” anymore? What happened?

Lol because Aaron Judge is back being a demigod. I think he is back in the MVP race with Altuve.

That swing reminds of me of Olerud a little bit.

Altuve deserves it to be totally honest. His season is insane. But Judge absolutely is pushing him. Leads the AL in R, BB, and HR with over 100RBI. That’s a damn good year

Interesting to see Girardi keep Gray out there. I know Gray is one of our horses, but he clearly didn’t have it and Joe has been quick to pull pitchers when they get into trouble. His delay cost us heavily. That being said, if Cleveland wins another game tonight, I anticipate the Stros would have folded the final two games anyway.

I also thought it was extremely strange that Girardi didn't have all his best relievers lined up for this one after winning the 3 previous games 11-3, 6-1 and 6-1. I'm shocked about that, frankly.

Here's a quote from a Yankee fan in another forum:

"How is it even possible to give up 7 runs in an inning with this bullpen? Unless of course you leave your starter in too long and only use the worst options in your bullpen because you're not really trying to win the game."

3-0 bad guys. Hmph...

The good news is that Tanaka is looking sharp today

12K's in less than 6 innings and only 80 pitches

Why was it a day game today? That seems weird for the final series of the season with playoff implications.

Very strange. I thought there was a rule put in place where games with playoff implications had to be played at the same time. Or maybe that's just my imagination.

Yom Kippur, I kid you not. We figured it out earlier today.

Have the Yankees ever played a 1:00 game before because of Yom Kippur? I don't recall this happening before.
