BOS: Wright (10-5 , 2.68 ERA) vs. NYY: Pineda (3-8 , 5.38 ERA)

7:05 Start

I had heard that E-Rod was to make this start. I guess not. Instead we have our All Star Ace taking the mound to take on the habitual greaser.

I think that Pineda is The Yankees Buch. Noble gas between the ears. Even Gaylord Perry looked smarter than this guy.

Anyway.... I had feared that the Sox would go into the break 5-6 out of 1st. Fortunately they decided to beat up on some weak competition and enjoy a good home stand.

Double D has fortified the roster with some good moves and hopefully will try to shore up the pen and rotation further if it is possible to do so without depleting the system of viable prospects.

So now that we are in withdrawal we can have our fix tonight as the Sox pound the once mighty Yankees further into irrelevance.

GO SOX!!!1!!!1!!

I'm so conflicted for this series. Cashman is trying to sell the assets but Stein and the curly headed president think we're still in it. This team isn't ready for prime time and any real baseball fan can see that. We need to make a significant overhaul and in this trade market, the prices are sky high. It would behoove us to move at least one dominant reliever and probably the best bat on the market in Beltran. On one hand, I want the Yankees to go into a tailspin so we can do what's right for our future. On the other hand, it's the f***ing Red Sox.

We are 4 games up on a top 10 draft pick. I want a protected pick. I want to sell

That's the spirit, going into a series with the old rivals. :D

Time to start rolling. We need a good second half.

They had a strong homestand before the break. I hope they keep up the good work.

True. Need to do some winning on the road. DD's going for it all.

The remaining schedule is brutal for the Red Sox. Forty three of the remaining 75 games are on the road, with two West Coast trips plus a nasty four-city trip in mid-August that includes a one-game series in Cleveland and an early start in Detroit after a night game in Baltimore.

The need to start the second half strong and not play down to their opponents.

This is likely the reason why we didn't wait until closer to the deadline to acquire Pomeranz. With so many road games in the 2nd half, taking advantage of a homestand early out of the break is crucial.

These are teams we should beat no matter the rivalry. Hope they get off to a good start. Need to keep pace with the birds.
