I believe Beni has the better hitting tool we will see. That is an enthusiastic projection to me. See how teams adjust to him.

He did already hit 20HR in 2 months, so its not unreasonable to think he can repeat that in 3 times the PA's

We'll have Beni for 6 more years and Betts/Bradley for 4 years. Our outfield depth maybe iffy but that's quite a trio. It's given that they can chase down balls. Sale will be the biggest benefactor of our defense.

Vazques/Leon under control for 4 years, Swihart for 5. If Travis comes up later in the year, we'll have 7 years of team control on him. Pedy is with us for 5 more years. Hanley and Pablo for 3 years.

..and Bogey for 3.

Devers can replace Pablo.

Travis and Swihart should/coulc replace Moreland/HanRam.

I'm also anxious to see development from Dalbec, Chatam and Oakimey in 2017. Chatam is athletic 6-4 at SS. Both Dalbec and Oakimey has raw power. Chatam may give us a viable option if Xander bolts.

It's really unfortunate that we bombed with Trey Ball.....no excuse on missing out that badly. 2013 draft was a bust.

Sometimes you just swing and miss- no excuse needed.

Big leagHe draft is rough. There is no higher boom or bust than HS pitchers. Some of the best pitchers in the game were HS draftees, but it doesn't come with its perils. Ball was overvalued due to his size. He's regressed stuff wise and hasn't been able to replicate his delivery. His ceiling when drafted was immense, but so was his floor. He's looking more like a floor guy.

Exactly harmony. Temper the enthusiasm. Everyone posting in this thread seem to be expecting prime Ted Williams. Let the kid figure out being a rookie first. One of the most important lessons a rookie needs to learn is the initial adjustment. That's when big league teams figure out a weakness and try to exploit it. Beni hasn't been around long enough to have one

No one is expecting him to be prime Ted Williams. We realize that he is a rookie and that there will be a learning curve. That said, we have good reason to be excited about Beni.

Hit 222 month of September still had 9 homeruns, but did teams figure something out. I could see 25 homers but a 275 average would surprise me.

I'm mostly going off his minor league capabilities. Even when benched for his poor attitude and lack of motivation, he still hit close to .270. The scary thing is that he got by on ability in the minors, but he's definitely embracing his ceiling now. Frustrating as he could have been here sooner

Lol. Maybe? Who knows right now, both had wildly successful debuts

Sanchez debut equalled something I would call other worldly.

He's the next Kevin Maas.
LOL!! I remember that in the off season after Kevin Maas came up for the Yankees that his rookie baseball card was being purchased in bulk.

This is an ok read about why all those late 80's/early 90's cards aren't worth anything. I still pick up a pack of 1987 Topps every once in a while for the nostalgia. In a few weeks I'll get the itch to buy a bunch of packs of the new Topps Heritage set, but I'll probably never get around to collecting a complete set ever again.

He's going to be the Rookie of the Year...that's all.

Sox counting on him to have a big season as they try to make up for the lost Papi production. He is hitting the ball this spring and should be in the running for rookie of the year. He has a sweat swing.

Yep, the kid seems to be poised to have a real stormer of a season. Exciting stuff.

Beni's on pace for 160+ HRs and over 450 RBIs!

And, some of you thought he should be batting 7th!

(LOL)

Talk about tongue in cheek. If he hits 280, gets 20 HRs and drives in 80 I will think he has had a stellar rookie season. Oh, and his defense will also be a plus.

True enough. I'm hopeful he hits .295 25 90 with some SBs and plus D.

Thanks for this - What a great read. I remember these guys like it really was just yesterday. No Rice in that 75 series hurt us just as much as no Tony c. in 67. Sadly, you don't get do-overs. Benintendi, Bradley, and Betts are pretty damn good and maybe someday they will equal or surpass what these 3 did before them in my mind. I will never ever forget the impact that the "gold dust twins" had on baseball that year.
