Owens is done Station. I saw him in person yesterday in Pawtucket. He looked absolutely terrible. I remember SR's on him in low A with mid to high 90s heat. The guy couldn't even top out at 90 and his stuff sucked.

I was never high on Owens. His velocity would get expose in the upper minors and not play out. The fact is his control is just awful, making everything else worse.

Its so frustrating that every f***ing night when I get home, I have to see another pitcher rocked. Can any of these dipshits have a good start aside from the top 3? Jesus Christ.
The offense got 12 hits and had 16 base runners and scores 7 runs and our pitchers blew us out. That happens too regularly.

Sox have won 9 of their most recent 27 games.

I know I'm scene as a gloom and doomer but does anyone else still believe that this team could end up "at or about .500" for the season?

There is no magic wand or silver bullet to fix this rotation. External options will be crazy expensive in prospect costs. I say wait for the off-season and make a run at some free agent starters.

This team also needs to get healthy again.

One more thing. He may be the second coming of Will Middlebrooks but Brentz can hit in the majors.

Just 1 single from the first 4 in the Sox lineup.

And 4Ks for JBJ. Where is the legendary hitting coach who got so much credit during his hot streak?

You aren't doom and gloom or even pessimistic for stating the obvious. I 'm really happy for Brentz. He may be just the next in a long line of looky looks for the auditioning of the left field position but when I read the negative comments from some here about him I take it for what it is worth. They were so sure that he would not get even a look from the big club that they are having a hard time giving him any credit at all. He earned the opportunity and is doing a good job taking advantage of it so far.

It's none of our business, of course, but has Speir ever been laid?

Speier is one of the better Red Sox beat writers, IMO.

The Rays were due for a win after losing 11 in a row. I was pretty sure their losing streak would end in this series. Do you know how difficult it is to lose 11 in a row, much less 14 in a row?

Now that the losing streak is over, I would be very shocked if the Sox don't win the next two games.

This team is still going to be in the Wild Card hunt at the end of September.

It would take a semi-miraculous revival of our pitching to do so. Someone explain how that's going to happen and I'll feel better.

Nothing shocks me much in baseball, Kimmi. Giving up 43 runs in 5 games is shocking me a little though.

I'm surprised Remy hasn't popped him already. He must think everyone is watching their first baseball game. Get rid of this nerd.
