Most of them are little old to have kids who are Disney age. LOL!!!

My 50 year old wife still begs to go to Disney 10 times a year!

Disney is ageless.

@jeffpassan: Sign that the trade market has officially gotten out of hand: Jeremy Hellickson may well fetch at least three, and perhaps four, prospects.

‏@jonmorosi: Sources who have spoken with #Nats believe they would trade Lucas Giolito to #Yankees for Andrew Miller, straight up.

By nightfall on the 1st, the Kimbrel and Pomeranz deals may look like grand larceny on our part.

WE took our 20 year old daughter to Disneyland last Xmas. That is nice. Most 20 year olds don't want to spend a vacation alone with parents. I still don't think the whole FO made the trip to the coast for pleasure, especially since they are all at the ballpark.

With the trade market as zany as it seems to be right now, I have to wonder what kind of pitching prospects we could command for the likes of a Pedroia-Holt package. At the same time, the hot shots from the minors (Moncado and the other kid) could be called up, thrown into the fray, and enjoy the guidance of Big Papi. Do something imaginative for a change! How much would THAT advance their careers. A chance of a lifetime!

Go Sox! Do something imaginative while the opportunity is there!

(But what do I know; I'm just a rookie!)

Are you to tell me that Dombrowski may actually know what the market value of his players are???

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, this is why you really can't go wrong stocking up on quality SP'ers over the winter. At worse, you end up trading away excess at super high exchange rates. At best, you win a ring.

Well hey now, I wouldn't go that far... ;)

Yankees are still pretty much in this division. This might be girardi's best job ever.

They are 6 games back and trading away pieces. They have no shot.

You really believe that? Nobody's running away with this division. If they can get into a winning streak then they got a chance.

At the rate the pitching market is going up I wonder if we could flip POM, throw in a top prospect of ours + and go out to get a Sale type.

Or, maybe you sell high on Wright for prospects and package them up with a Moncada/Kopech combo for some Chris Sale.

Crazy I know, but with all the crazy s*** said in here I think I'm allowed one once in a while.

whose to say the Yankees are even sellers all the way at this point. Yankees are 3.5 out from a wildcard, and still have a deep pen after trading Chapman.

Maybe the plan all along was to get good value for Chapman and see where they stand in a couple weeks because they could easily justify flipping Torres or even trading Mateo with Torres in the system.

Does Severino/Judge/Mateo get them Sale????? that's a pretty strong package.

Well they only have a couple more days to decide. Even winning the next 3 games won't pull them that much closer.

They need to make the decision ASAP. No reason to trade Chapman if they think they have a realistic shot.

If, I had to guess I'd say the Yankees are most definitely sellers and will remain so. Perhaps if they notched a few more wins the last couple weeks things would be different. But that also begs the question of what we would be if flip flopped spots with the Yankees????

They are only 3.5 games behind the spot we are in right now.

Yeah, if nothing else, it sends a pretty clear message to the players that management thinks you're kind of a s***** team.

Per Fangraphs on White Sox Pitcher Chris Sale

Boston Red Sox

This one’s pretty easy; the team could start the bidding with either Yoan Moncada (#1 BA/#2 MLB) or Andrew Benintendi (#9 BA/#7 MLB) and go from there. Top 10 hitting prospects are highly valuable assets because they usually combine upside and proximity to the big leagues, and thus are worth something like $75 million; Moncada may be worth closer to $100 million, since he’s the guy who might be the top overall prospect in the game right now.

So the White Sox would be right to demand either in a deal, but even Sale isn’t worth both, so the Red Sox would have to pick which of the two they wanted to keep around, and then add some additional value beyond giving up a terrific young hitter. If Benintendi was the main piece, Rafael Devers (#41 BA/#25 MLB) would be a reasonable piece to add, putting the Red Sox package on part with a Urias/Bellinger or Urias/Verdugo offer from Los Angeles.

If Moncada is the guy they’re sending to Chicago, though, Devers’ value probably pushes the deal past what Sale is worth; his value gets you most of the way to Sale, so the second piece could be a higher risk guy like hard-throwing righty Michael Kopech (#93 BA/#83 MLB), since back-end Top 100 pitching prospects are worth about $15 million. Toss in some sweeteners on top of that, and the White Sox would at least have to think about it, as Moncada and Kopech could give them a pretty great return.

Thoughts?

Say we sign Encarnacion for 2017. We would have enough money to throw at Encarnacion.

......use Benintendi/Devers as trade chips

Young and Swihart returns in LF for 2017. We still have Shaw at 3B, Hanley at 1B. Holt becomes super sub.

We now have Chris Sale for 3 more years.....We would definitely contend for 3 more years. He's the starting pitcher type that DD covets. TEMPTING?

I'd try for Quintana and his extra year of team control.

I would not give up Moncada.

I'd try to get Quintana or Sale for Swihart, Devers, Kopech & Dubon, but they'd probably say no.

Benintendi and Devers would be tempting.

If the goal is to win the World Series, we probably need to get another top of the line starting pitcher. I'd hate to give up quality prospects but.....we know that we can't hit our way to the World Series Championship. Pitching still wins big games.

Our goal should be to put ourselves in a good position to compete for a ring for the nest 6-8 years.
