According to Lovullo, Hanley will not play in the outfield again this season. De Aza is gone. It looks like Betts, JBJ, and Castillo the rest of the way out.

I'm no big fan of Hanley Ramirez by any means, but I do think that he was placed in a very uncomfortable position. Paid well - for sure I get that part. I'm just not sure that he is as much of a clown as it looks like he is. If he simply had been asked to hit the ball as in the DH, I think that things would be different. There doesn't appear to be any place for him to play right now on this team. I would like to see him at first if he can prove that he can play the position. If he is healthy they should be able to figure that out fairly well in the games that they have left. I haven't seen or really heard anything that can be substantiated to indicate that he is lazy or a bad team mate or a problem in the clubhouse. It boils down to whether or not there is any way that he can help this team win moving forward. If it doesn't look like he can, then he has to go.

I agree with this and I also wasn't a fan, at least in acquiring him, but it was Cherington, or ownership that caused this outfield overload, not him. But also, he is talented, we do already have him and keeping him may be the smarter move all things considered. Playing first base being chief among those.

His and Panda's production have been awful, but I think both of them are getting bum raps when it comes to their character. There might be something to Hanley's "laziness", but I recall a statement earlier from one of the team's coaches that Hanley has been agreeable to taking fielding practice anytime the coaches have requested it. Either way, I think the criticism of his attitude has more to do with his contract along with his lack of performance than it has to do with his actual attitude.

I like to think that I am Hanley's number one hater...... I really can't stand his game...........

But there has been enough reading material underlining that he is a pretty good guy........ and want's to do what's right.

Ortiz had some really good things to say about him, he seemed to genuinely care about Farrell.......... I think he may be a person who you would want to work with and not a guy you hate working with.........

I still do believe he doesn't think defense is important enough to give it much thought............. but I think he may now be realizing he sucks so bad at D that he want's to step it up. About midway through the year he started backing up people, and gave what I thought looked like more of an effort on the field......... but he just isn't an outfielder and I think doesn't have much athletic ability other than hitting..........

I've given Hanley a ton of s*** this year................ but I starting to think that him not being a clubhouse guy is not true.......

How's this.... I don't think he is a negative in the clubhouse......... but I don't think he sparks a winning attitude also....

I've said before that I think he is just a big flake more than anything else.

When a team is going as bad as the Sox have this season, you usually here a lot of speculation about a bad clubhouse, etc., even when it's not true. Something that normally wouldn't be given a second thought gets blown out of proportion.

What have we really heard this season about a bad clubhouse? Other than the Panda cell phone thing, I can't really think of anything. That leads me to believe that Hanley's attititude has not been a problem.

How do people feel about whether Price can handle pitching in Fenway? I have never thought of him as a big pressure game pitcher, but I love his stuff.

He's been pitching superbly for the Jays in big games.

He would be a great acquisition. But they are absolutely going to have to break the bank to sign him. He should command as much as Scherzer. They may have to give him an opt-out to sign with us. Several other wealthy teams will be in the mix. It's no slam-dunk.

He has looked good with the Jays in some big games. That said, you never know how a player is going to respond to the Boston pressure cooker, especially if he is handed a big contract.

Honestly, if I were GM, I would not shell out the type of contract that it will likely take to sign him. As a fan, I'd be thrilled if the Sox acquired him.

You must experience Buyer's Remorse every time you purchase an automobile. :)

Personally, I think I would prefer Greinke.

I like them both. I want the one that we can get.

I also would not mind seeing Price in Boston, but not at 30 million a year. Those large contracts are also a problem in the long term. There is no way players can live up to them. Price is the one top FA that DD knows. Cueto scares me because I could see him getting a big contract then have problems with injuries. I don't know if Greinke has what it takes to pitch in Boston. An Zimmermann probably is the least talented of the four. Those are top FA pitchers.

I think Greinke stays in LA. Cueto's elbow is scary. Zimmermann makes sense if the expectations are reasonable. The team could use an ace, but so could everybody else. A Zimmermann sort would help the rest of the rotation fall into place.

I think the Dodgers will let Greinke walk, take the pick, and sign Price or Cueto

If they sign Price, it will have nothing to do with Greinke - separate decisions.

People are speculating $210/7 yrs for Price. The number of years might even be greater. That is scary! I'm guessing that he will stay with the Jays. He really seems to like it there.

Greinke has some kind of social anxiety disorder. It doesn't seem to be affecting him, but I would be cautious about his ability to handle the scrutiny in Boston.

Trade speculation with Matt Harvey has increased because of his comments about possibly not pitching in the postseason. I don't know what his cost would be, but this seems like it is something right up the Red Sox' alley.

This thing with Harvey has gotten really ugly really fast. He is getting killed in the stories about it.

I thought his comments were to hold off in Sept and save bullets for Oct?

He said he was pitching in October if the Mets got there, no matter what. Now he says Dr. Andrews gave him a 180 inning limit. The Mets say Andrews said no such thing.

This.

Everyone here knows how I hate big contracts. A mega deal for Price would be insane.

But as a fan, that guy is dominant and a tough competitor. I think that he would love it and thrive in Boston.

I even think that Papi would be giving him big hugs in the dugout.

Of all the FA pitchers available, this is the guy I want.

I doubt that it gets done, though.

You just covered it. We all want him, we all hate the cost.

Ah, I see. Well, he probably should hold off anyway. Screw the Mets.

Cafardo sees the 2016 Boston rotation as Clay Buchholz, Rick Porcello, Eduardo Rodriguez, Wade Miley and a yet-to-be-acquired ace, though I’d argue that Miley’s spot is far from set in stone. Plans could yet shift if the Sox move a starter in a trade, and Cafardo [hears from an AL GM] reads on TalkSox that Miley and Buchholz “would have value” if Boston shopped either starter. (Presumably the Sox wouldn’t move a promising and controllable arm like Rodriguez, and Porcello’s big contract greatly limits his trade value.)
Come on Nick... we know that you lurk here. LOL!!

Jays have been the sleeping giant here. Largest city in Canada, and a fanbase that will go if the team doesn't suck.
