I said pretty much the same thing and got attacked by him and Spud, and was obligated to apologize.

Spud was out of line IMO. If I'm not mistaken SCM33 was one of the many posters he ragged on sbf for changing from a Dodgers fan to a Red Sox fan.

It's all good. I'm not going to take back my apology, and still regret what I said. I'm not going to worry about it.

If you feel like what you said was ok, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

But I don't. So let's forget it and move on.

I see no reason for you to be butt hurt over what I said. Your comment had nothing to do with the thread that SCM started. It was a childish thing to say. SCM like most long standing members of this board deserves just a little more respect than that.

Did you not see what I said after that? RSFFL said that if I meant to say it, to stick to my guns. I didn't mean to sound that harsh, apologized, and was being sarcastic when RSFFL said the same thing. And then, on this very page of the thread, I asked if we could move on.

No Thunder, I did not see your subsequent comments until after I made my latest comment.

I see no reason for further discussion of this topic. I like SCM even if I do not agree with everything he says. This is how I feel about you and most everyone else on this board.

He does not need my defense. Although when I see a comment that was incitefull and antagonistic about him I reserve the privilege to counter. Much the same as I would defend VA, a700, UN, and other good people that I have come to admire over the years on Talksox.

How is it strange when the lineup is producing and we're winning games?

Hey - i think this has gotten a little over thought. Winning is good but it is still strange when you bench a player for not be able to hit, replace him with a player who gets three hits and then you bench him. Getting De Aza in the lineup makes sense but thinking that Ortiz is going to be playing first base regularly at his age, injury history, and fitness level is ridiculous. The point i was kind of trying to make was that in a given week we could see any number of what might seem like strange moves coming from John Farrell. I'm very happy that they are winning. i will be more direct next time. That being said, i am not one of the vast majority of people on this board who have been crapping all over Farrell and his staff.

Listen, you expect de Aza to turn into a pumpkin. But until that happens, ride it out. I pointed to the staff as the culprit because the team was underachieving across all three phases of the game ... when that happens, the coaching staff is an obvious suspect. That said, things have gotten better. Unfortunately that deathly offensive slump in May has put us behind the 8-ball.

Speaking of Goobers, has anyone looked at the new manager of the Marlins?

Now that guy looks like a real Goober.

LOL Yes!

He absolutely looks like a Goober!

CP, you can't look at it as a simple De Aza over Shaw offensive decision. IMO, the defensive upgrade was more of a factor in the decision than the offense. Farrell has stated that he really likes the speed in the outfield that he gets with De Aza, Betts, and Victorino.

That said, as I posted before, Ortiz cannot play first base regularly. I would guess that Farrell's decision was also partly based on the off day today which would give Papi a chance to rest.

I didn't and i don't. Personally i don't think Shaw should have ever seen the field. It just was an interesting move that i am surprised did not bring out the Farrell critics. If those games had been losses he would have caught the fire once again.

You and Spud are mature and reasonable. None of us is perfect. Good job by both of you governing the content of thread.

MVP angry.....must show internet rage...

Get a life.

God forbid that I was critical and decided to start following a NL team.

SBF was a whole different animal, he actually changed teams......multiple times. I simply added another one to start following.....in the NL, and truth be told....I only follow them because of Theo and Lester, so f*** off.

Ill continue to keep the avatar up, just because you are an internet tough guy, bitch.

I've taken an interest in the Cubs for the same reasons. I usually don't follow the NL very closely but now I have several reasons to. Plus, I want some other team to put it to those pretentious and obnoxious Cards fans.

Ahahahahah , Farrell said that????

I've heard many versions of "Hanley Suck at Left", but that's a new and very creative one.

Changing my vote to Gary Striewski. What a load of garbage he is...

I never liked him. I miss Jenny Dell. I can't believe she does sideline for NFL games now.

I'm still on the side that Ben used faulty reasoning in constructing the pitching staff. Short on talent, and our most talented starter was also extremely fragile.

If by faulty reasoning you mean irrational then I agree wholeheartedly.

The reasoning was not faulty. They aren't the most talented bunch, but even with that, with the exception of Buchholz, they are all performing below their talent levels, most by a large degree.

It's the underperformance of the players, which lies mostly on the shoulders of the players themselves, then on the coaching staff.

Ben is not responsible for what happens on the field. He is responsible for trying to fix the problem, but he is not responsible for the problem itself.

As GM Ben is responsible for the results that his team achieves. Many serious analysts thought this team was poorly constructed. The coaching staff is also definitely a Cherrington responsibility. He hired them just as he constructed the team.

If a team as a whole is under performing then it is a GM's responsibility. That why GMs get fired.

I confess I had hoped this team could be competitive in the ALE (and it still may be) only because the division is weak. But we should be under no illusions, the pitching staff sucks. And that is Ben's fault as much as it is anyone's. There were plenty of indications that Kelly, Masterson, Miley and Porcello all came with considerable questionmarks, not to mention the never ending questions about Buchholtz. And we aren't even talking about the bullpen. Why in heaven is Craig Breslow still on this team.

Cherrington IMHO irrationally believed that all these question marks would work out in the Red Sox favor. It's like the compulsive gambler who keeps playing roulette hoping his number comes up. Eventually he goes broke.
