Looks like Houston's #1 pick has elbow issues. Youch. They haven't signed him yet... maybe they should just send him back and get the #2 pick next year. Not like they'll be contending any time soon anyway.

Geez what's wrong with Verlander - I just noticed he gave up 5 run in the first tonight (7/8) and his ERA is up to 5.05

I don't know. SI has them winning the 2017 WS over the Cubs. No joke. Look it up.

Alright, the Dodgers just scored 7 runs in a 4 game series against San Diego, and won 3 out of 4. The games they won were 2-1, 1-0, and 1-0. Why can't the Sox be able to do this?

Rizzo hits homer #20, he becomes the face of the Cubs now. f*** that.

I guess Starlin might be starting to figure it out - it's taken long enough. I still have my doubts about him.

This is as dumb as ESPN predicting the result of every NFL game last season before a single snap was played.

I didn't say I agreed with it.

Puig did a Bay. Really, big guy? Not even one?

Talking about this Puig dude. I was watching a LA vs. Rockies game a couple of weeks ago. He made this pretty fantastic catch and then thru the guy out at home trying to tag from 3rd. Impressed the s*** out of me.

This Jeter sucking cockfest is making me sick. He was an excellent player for a long time, but this is not Ruth, Mantle, Williams, Musial, Mays, Aaron, Bench or Yaz. He was a below average fielder that never won an MVP, nor did he ever lead the league in HR, RBI, Batting Average, Slugging percentage or On base percentage. Enough already!

No. Just no. He will always be my favorite player.

Someone asked Mike Trout if he someday would ever be as good as Derek Jeter. If I were him, I would take that as an insult.

None of those players were shortstops, it's like comparing apples and oranges.

How many shortstops have won an MVP or lead the league in HR, RBI, Batting Average, Slugging percentage or on base percentage?

I know one shortstop that won the MVP. He used to be a great trivia question to ask because only a true baseball geek would know the answer. You could give the year, the team, the position, and his initials, and you would still just get blank stares. (Zoilo Versalles, Minnesota, 1965)

My Jeter-groupie friend, shortstops have won the MVP award 15 times. Some of the recent names that you might remember are Jimmy Rollins, Miguel Tejeda, ARod, Ripken and Yount. As far as the Yankees go, Phil Rizzuto won the award at SS on a team that had Joe DiMaggio.

The problem is that for Jeter to get the accolades he has been getting, shouldn't he have led some of these categories? Rivera got a similar treatment, and it annoyed the crap out of most of us... but it is simply a fact that he is the best American closer of all time.

Chipper Jones was well received, but not like this. Will other players get this kind of treatment if they have actually led their positions? Joe Mauer, Pujols, Ichiro, Cabrera, and maybe even Cano probably won't have this kind of fanfare... and they are significantly better players.

I believe Ernie Banks won two MVP's when he played shortstop for the Cubs. He won them in 1958 and 1959 and I don't think he was moved to first until around 1962 or 1963.

But,as an article I read today said, Jeter has never put a foot wrong, particularly off the field. No arrests, no drugs, no women troubles. That counts for something.

He was heard to say "Let's win two!"
