I typically disagree with some of these unwritten rules - can't bunt to break up a perfect game is one of the most ridiculous of them. Considering that every time a shift gets put on the announcers mention bunting to the left side, makes it, as you said, a non issue and part of the game.

Even at the time I never really understood why the Padres traded Rizzo for Cashner.. Yeah Cashner has been fantastic, but the Padres are always lacking offense and could really have used a guy like Rizzo. The Padres always have random pitchers who are good, probably in part because of the ballpark they play in.

That had to be one of the best trade deadlines ever. I was watching the MLB Network coverage from 11:30 AM to the 4 PM deadline. Billy Beane going for the WS with Lester was a shock. Then right when you think the A's are the best team in baseball and finally good enough to get past their nemesis Tigers in the playoffs, bam, the Tigers get Price. The ALCS this year between the A's and Tigers is going to be insane. The consistently good but always falling short Tigers vs the playoff choking A's. Billy Bean's legacy on the line. Give the Shanks some credit whether we want to or not. They have suffered major injuries to their starting rotation and their lineup is loaded with greybeards but they keep plugging away. Rather significant when you compare them to our club that has fallen on their faces since the opening home series. Maybe we can finish up strong in September and give ourselves some hope for next season. What I do know is that Betts must be in the lineup in CF and Bradley given a one way ticket to whoever will take that worthless bum off our hands.
