wow. what else is there to say? this team is World Series bound.

At this point, it's looking good. Beating the best two pitchers in the AL (arguably) says a lot about this team. Let's see how Peavy does tomorrow. The game tomorrow should be a bit more high scoring, but we will see.

Kojji takes a seat in the throne vacated by Mo Rivera.

This could be construed as heresy to the baseball gods but this year the best closer in baseball was our Koji, and I'll take on all arguments to the contrary.

Now for an exercise in scary thoughts:

I want you all to sit back and consider what those final 4 outs would've been like if Hanrahan or Bailey were still our closer.

With all due respect BTR, STFU!!!!!!! I almost had a coronary just reading your post.

Fred is buying his plane tix as we speak!

The trip has already been finalized mvp. Sports Travel is supposed to send me the tickets electronically tomorrow or Thursday and I have my hotel reservations set........three nights at the Holiday Inn Express and four nights at the Hampton Inn, both in Cambridge, and both are near a Green Line station. I certainly wish I could touch base with a few of my colleagues on this board. I will be getting together with Muggah from the Sawxheads Board. Things are really starting to look up.

The Sox have faced Anibal Sanchez, Max Scherzer, and Justin "Lol Try'n Hit THIS" Verlander. They have struck out approximately fourteen million times, were no-hit into at least the first 4 innings of all three games, and the Sox's best pitcher this season was knocked around in Game 2.

And the Sox have a 2-1 series lead. John Lackey outdueled Justin Verlander. Junichi Tazawa extended both middle fingers high into the air while tongue-f***ing Miguel Cabrera's wife. Mike Napoli struck out six times and looked absolutely lost in order to lull the Tigers into a false sense of security before taking advantage of literally the only mistake Verlander has made in the entire postseason.

There is nothing this team cannot do. Except shave.

The Boston Red Sox are winning the motherf***ing World Series, and also the regular baseball World Series. They'll do it by scoring a dozen runs in a blowout or they'll do it by scraping one run and letting one of their deplorably white and pasty starting pitchers (seriously, is there an assembly line in Texas where they just churn out generic-looking white guys in Sox uniforms to pitch?) shuts down the best offense in baseball. I listened to this game on a miniature radio while I was working the grill today and I almost chucked someone's sandwich across the store when Napoli homered and again when Tazawa struck out Cabrera. I can't remember the last time I was so stoked about this goddamn team.

In conclusion, f*** yeah, Red Sox.

Brilliant. I concur entirely with this post.

I was driving down the road when Napoli hit the homer, listening on my phone through the AtBat app... pretty sure the gal driving next to me thought I was f***ing psychotic when he smashed it out, as I literally screamed "f*** Yeah!!!" at about 90 decibels in my truck, and followed that up with about 5 fist punches in the air. Seeing as I live in Minnesota, no one here could possibly have any clue what the f*** I was doing, as they've heard of the mysterious series of games in baseball called the ALCS, but have no idea what one looks like as it requires a postseason win (or three) to get there.

Still cannot believe we're up 2-1. Every one in the media and their mom had us dead to rights in game 2, and now we're guaranteed a game 6 in Boston even if we s*** the bed the next two games. I fully expect a dominant performance against Fister to put the Motor City Kitties on suicide watch and our beloved Sox one game removed from the most improbable World Series berth in franchise history.

Crucial game tonight. Fister is not the guy you want to let beat you, especially with the rest of the Tigers rotation being so insane. Hopefully lower K numbers tonight

Hopefully, Napoli will go on one of his post-season runs and Pedey will hit too.

I am not shocked that the sox managed a single run off Verlander. I am completely shocked that Lackey shut down Detroit. I was able to watch a few pitches here and there inbetween the masses of humanity rolling in on a Tuesday after a 3 day weekend. I saw the AB of Tazawa vs Cabrera and he just couldn't catch up to the heat. That isn't like him. That guy is a shell of himself

Sox better be on their guard. Going against Fister after dealing with Verlander, Scherzer, and the super saiyan form of Annabelle Sanchez is a trap game waiting to happen.

This stage of the season, there aren't trap games. All of these matter - I don't think anybody is looking past any game. The Red Sox have had a coin flip go in a coin flip series. They could easily be down 3-0 ... or with one or two swings of the bat in Game 1 could easily be up 3-0. This series has been very very closely contested and no reason to think it's going to change.

Amazing the Red Sox are up 2-1 despite the offense showing up for all of three innings.

It is a little amazing that the Red Sox pitching has been this good.

It was what we noted when the Peavy trade happened. The team can wheel out a #2/#3 starter every night out - yeah having Verlander/Scherzer/Felix/Darvish would be awesome, but the Red Sox have a starter who can compete every time out. And the starters have been able to (except for the Game 2 start) get to the Breslow-Tazawa-Uehara portion of the show with minimal help. Basically, if you could script a game to be: starter-breslow/tazawa-uehara ... you'd take that every time.

Again, boo f***ing hoo

Eh, he's just mad because the Sox are successful. Give him the option of losing a leg and an arm vs the Red Sox winning the WS. He'd probably go out and lose the arm and leg.

It would rock if he took that option and the Sox won anyway.

Cause yankee fans have every right in the world to begrudge a team that won two World Series in the past 94 years.

I can see Red Sox fans hating the yankees but the yankee hate for the Red Sox is unfounded and stupid, just a by product of their elitist mentality which is especially prevelant in the world's capital of crime and filth (go figure again).
