I didn't throw stones at you first so don't go there. You went off on me a few weeks back in the middle of a baseball discussion spewing this same crap. I basically didn't even answer it, and even though I didn't engage you in the gutter, you put me on ignore because you were so angry. I was okay with that. Apparently your need to rage at people compelled you to take me off ignore.

I actually took you off of ignore because I think you are a good poster and we once agreed on most topics. I hoped that with some of the offseason activity, your tone would have changed.

I put you on ignore originally because your negativity had become unbearable.

It must have been something that didn't translate on the boards or you were mixing me up with some other posters, but I have been taking a wait and see attitude this off season. Their hands were tied last year, so this year is the year to judge them. I think the team needs pitching. There's nothing negative about that either. Let's just move forward. There's always more agreement among Red Sox fans than disagreement. I have agreed with you more often than not in the past, so there's no reason for us to get ugly with each other.

While Fred talks about baseball, some posters attack him, CLASSIC!. C'mon guys, Fred is a great poster. Even with those posters who attack him, he always shows respect in the way he talks to them.

I think he is a very respectful poster and brings a lot to the table; sure, he can be right or wrong in some topics, but he always talks about baseball and I often find out funny his jokes and nicknames. I'm not sure why some people take his posts so personal regardless always those posts are not directed to them, anyway...

Everybody needs to calm down and back to baseball.

Hopefully all this Napoli delay is about paper work and nothing related with his physical status. Would be great have him and go after Swisher too.

No he doesn't. This whole argument started because he attacked my fandom, which is highly ironic mind you.

You'd be pissed too if someone said you're a fair weather fan wouldn't you? Don't be a selective reader.

I'm not selective, Fred is always attacked by few posters included you. Sorry, it is what it is.

Fred is constantly putting others down in his posts, regardless of whether or not the other person was acting aggressive. UN wasn't even responding to Fred, and then was more or less told that he's spineless. How is that talking about baseball?

Fred would be a decent poster if he wasn't constantly going out of his way to disrespect anyone who he doesn't care for.

I have seen Fred defend himself. I have not seen Fred "constantly putting others down". I have not seen him insult any specific poster without provocation. If he has, it has been a rare occurrence.I have seen him challenge posters with whom he disagrees, but in the same breath say that if he is wrong, he'll be the first to admit it. In the post that started off the bruh hah hah he said:

OTOH, if things work out differently and the team flourishes because of the things you said and that the front office did so, well, I'll be the first to send a pile of kuddos your way.

BTW: Please never use UN in this type of argument. It weakens your argument. He is the most abusive poster here bar none. He should have been gone a long time ago.

Example of selective reading.

You aren't even going to use his entire post? Okay, I'll get that for you:

The way they're going, I say that most likely they won't do it and we will be dumpster diving again for the type of trash that waylaid us last season. Your posts are always hard hitting but I do get irritated as your continued defending of the our seemingly inept front office. This is the same crap I heard from you last off season, and when the season exploded early and we were left in the crapheap you conveniently scurried off the board and not seen again until the end of the season. If things end up the same way again, I expect that this time you will stay on board, show some guts and courage and face the music.

You left out all of the negativity; Fred's a dick, and this wasn't provoked by anything but Fred being a dick.

I have no problem with Emmz' opinion. Emmz is one of my favorite posters and I consider her my friend, but in this case I think she's wrong the way I see the things. It is what it is for me, brah.

How can you even disagree though, that's pretty much open and shut right there. UN wasn't antagonizing (and yes, I think he is an antagonistic person, and a defensive person) the situation, Fred just pretty much opened fire for no reason, and tbh, he does that a lot.

Maybe you don't mind people implying that you were gutless and that you ran away like a coward? :dunno:

Live by the sword be prepared to die by it. UN is not "antagonistic and defensive". He is obnoxious and he has never even come close to being civil or courteous in his discourse. He's in no position to complain.

Second, as to the charge of him running like a coward at the end of the season, yeah he should get called out on it. Fred shouldn't have just implied it. His "life intervened excuse" is lame. He acted like a mega ass in the off season but supposedly life intervened when the team was circling the drain. We all have lives. I lost both parents, my dog and an uncle in the last two years. My wife and I take care of her 92 year old mom with Alzheimer's, so pardon me if UN's excuse rings hollow to me.

I will say this. He's not the only coward to run and hide when things went bad. All of those who abandoned the place in September should all be forced to put something in their signatures acknowledging their mistake if they ever have the guts to show up on TalkSox . They should be forced to provide a doctor's notes that says that they were incapable of posting starting in September.

I wonder if this hold up banishes Napoli to 1B. If so, do we keep Salty or Lavarnway? I wouldn't be oppposed to trading one of them plus Bradley Jr. for Dickey.

I think he was going to be playing mostly 1B before all this anyways. He likely will only catch for Lackey with Lavs and Ross splitting the rest of the time.

In no way should they trade the future CF for one year of Dickey, "that's just tuurible" -(Charles Barkley).

Now if you said Salty plus Jacobs that might have made more sense.

Hi Emmz.

All I'm saying is that since he's been in this board, I have noticed that some posters have been attacking him constantly and Fred only points at players, GM, etc. while others take his posts personal, and I still do not know why.

I thought that you liked Fred. He is a nice guy IMO.

This reminds me of when we signed Mike Stanley in the 90s to catch, but he had an upper spinal issue (I think), and he never caught for us. We sucked back then too.

Mets would never make that deal. They can move Victorino to CF and look for a RF. I'm also certain that the Red Sox would extend Dickey.

Then they shouldn't be trading for him then. He's not worth top tier prospects. I'm sure they could extend him if they wanted to, but that would be ill advised before he proves himself in the AL. And like I said before if he did prove himself he's unlikely to pass up the opportunity to cash in on a good season in Boston. It doesn't fit multiple ways.

Yeah, that '99 team was horrible!

No, but we're were horrible in 97 the year STanley couldn't catch. :harhar: what I remembered incorrectly was that we got Stanley in 96

"He never caught for us" - 120 games in 96-97.

Boy, you keep sticking your chin out. Okay, let me smack you again. Read my last post. I had forgotten that we got him in 1996. It was 1997 where he couldn't catch for us. He started 9 games at catcher in 1997. Is that clear enough for you? How is this discussion relevant to anything?

I think I admitted to remembering inaccurately about something that happened 17 years ago. But in your demented need to prove me wrong about anything, you researched it and still got it wrong thinking I was referencing 1999. My initial statement wasn't relevant to anything and it wasn't meant to make any particular point other than this health situation for Napoli reminded me of the situation with Stanley. Are you this desperate to play gotcha with me, because you really suck at it. You would think that you would be much better at it since you seem to enjoy it so much.;)

I just find it interesting that your typical response to being wrong about something is "how is this relevant." I don't care about "gotcha." Everyone on here has been wrong about stuff at one time or another. It's also funny how you claim others make things personal when you are always the first to throw an insult. Everyone else is the problem, not you, right? ;)

That's right. I agree with your conclusion. Now let me correct you once again. I don't mind admitting that I am wrong. Memories over 20-40 years are not perfect. Of course, you are always snarky. Even on the most inconsequential of misstatements you have to be a snarky jerk. That's what happened here. You went out of your way to make an unprovoked snarky remark about something completely inconsequential. What I laugh at is more often than not when you are a snarky jerk, you are wrong. and you researched the fact snd were still wrong. if you are going to be a snarky jerk, be good at it. At least present a challenge if you want to get under my skin.;). Btw, if we are talking about admitting being wrong, I did so in my first post. You were wrong with both of your snarky retorts, but you can't admit that can you? You would think that after I had pointed out the error in your initial snarky post that you would have made certain not to make another error on the same topic. Keep up the good work.

At this point I'd be fine ditching Napoli and going for Laroche.

Gold glovers at 1st, 2nd, RF, CF, SS(close enough) plus David Ross's cannon at C, and a solid defender at 3B. The pitching isn't very good right now, so maybe having an elite-elite defense behind them would be more important than the small boost in offense that Napoli would provide over Laroche.
