With Dumpster, the next coming of Pedro Martinez, to be in the fold shortly, the Red Sox will have signed every FA who doesn't cost a draft pick--if my count is correct. Brilliant. Just kidding.

In the meantime, that other LA Fox team, the Angels, apparently are going to scarf up Hamilton and leave their rival Rangers holding the bag. The media missed this one--just like they missed Pujols last year. IF you want to know who is signing the big FAs, just FOLLOW THE MONEY. That means the two LA teams. I think I said that a while back in a post showing the local TV revenue for all the teams. The two LA teams are way above everybody else--dwarfing even the Yankees.

s*** SBF didn't stick around the whole season himself. Wtf?

A piss poor memory maybe MVP?????? Let me refresh it. When the season unraveled as i predicted it would before the season began, I told all of you that rather than let my anger and frustration get the best of me I decided to leave the board rather than dump my baggage on you and others. It certainly wasn't because I defended everything the front office did and when it all came apart left the board because I couldn't face the music as your pal UN did. Big difference!!!!! I predicted right and he predicted wrong. We left for different reasons and since your memory is addled I just straightened you out.

And he doesn't want people to attack his fandom after he rooted for like 10 teams before the Sox, yet he's attacking a fan born into Sox fandom like me.

Yeah i brought it up.

Ten teams????? You bought into that too just like Gulliblelinski? I guess that makes you Gullibiinovich!!!!!!

The second PG was banned, SBF took his ball and went home. Now he's calling out other posters for not being around everyday. I just can't understand what is going on here sometimes...

Note: I'm leaving for FL today and will be gone until Monday. If I don't post, it's not because I'm less of a Sox fan or am scared to contribute on here. (I hope that covers me from the glares of some of the older gentlemen on here...)

Have a safe trip MVP and maybe work on your memory. As for PG, I never understood why he and Muggah were banned. They were honest and they told the truth as they saw it, and as it turned out they were right in their sordid predictions. Maybe when you get back Cherington will have done something to make us all feel good.

Without mentioning Napoli by name, GM Ben Cherington provided an update on the deal, Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald reports. “We’re working through some things in regards to another player,” Cherington said.

I think he's still coming to Boston.

SoxSport I think your right about where the big money deals will come from going forward. It's not about getting butts in the seats anymore. It's about getting the butts in front of the TV.

I liked the Napoli signing from the minute it occurred and that's why I hope it doesn't unravel. The guy is versatile, a good RH power hitter who can hit 30 homers for us and play three spots----1B, C and DH. What's not to like. I just hope the front office doesn't botch this one up. Uehara I like for the bullpen....a very good move IMO. Ross as a reserve catcher is fine. He throws well and handles the pitching staff top notch. Gomes? Facing lefties it's good news. Facing righties and playing in the field is not so good news. That's two out of three in the negative. I'm not sold there. As for Victorino, keep in mind that Cameron was a great clubhouse guy too and he stunk. I want to see Vic come back and hit and field and run and be a leader in the clubhouse. Fair or not, I think the jury is out there. Dempster? I saw him shut us out this June in Chi town when he was tearing up the NL, but we know the AL is stronger. Jury is out on him too.

Victorino is like 5 years younger and prior to last season had been a top 8 WAR OF in the league for a couple years running. Victorino might be one of the bigger surprises from the off season. Other then that, I'm along the same line of thinking when t comes to the other player moves so far this off season. I don't think Gomes is in vs RHP, Kalish will be in for that. So I wouldn't worry too much there.

No. It just shows my aversion to some of the retarded statements you make and how much of a hypocrite you are. If you don't want people to question your fandom, then don't question other peoples'. It's not rocket science.

Vic was a fine player in Philly, and he probably hasn't lost much, despite a bad half year in LA, in which he reportedly was playing with a bad hand.

The only signing that pisses me off is Dempster. The guy is an ageing mediocre pitcher who will deprive one of the several prospects they have from getting a fair shot at upgrading the pitching next year. Instead, they will help the PawSox win another championship and the Red Sox will stay in the cellar in the AL east. Dempster is not a pitching upgrade, and is way overpriced.

No, you are gullible or you wouldn't have said that. You would have come at me in a different way, but you did just what that other gullible guy did. I never doubted your fandom otherwise I would have said so. As for retarted statements, if not following the party line makes retarded then I plead guilty, and I'm still waiting for you to throw any kind of barb the front office's way. You still seem to defend just about everything they do and that has to be bogus because for the last four seasons just about everything they've touched has turned to s***. Am I too critical? Yes!!! I expect more from them and demand more from them as a fan. We haven't won a damn thing in over five seasons, not a division, not an AL title or a WS...NOTHING. I expect them to put a championship contender on the field every year. We're not a small market team; we are supposed to be one of the perennials and I want the front office to start acting like we are that.

Hes the best Giants, Dodgers, Bluejays, Yankees, Orioles, Rangers, Royals, Reds, Cardinals, Rays, Brewers....etc etc fan around.

Phony, and NO....I DONT want to hear the ******** story of your fandom again. Go back to dodgerblues, or sawxheads...or whatever s***** board you came from.

You have ZERO ground to stand on when you question other members allegiances, just sayin'.

Aw you all have to f*** off and stop ganging up on Fred. Fred's posts are entertaining. If they infuriate you too bad. Let's address baseball and stop acting like bully state troopers who are cranky and over tired from pumping up their ******** overtime. Really, a lot of you FO ball washers ran from the boards like you had entered the witness protection program. Fred is hurling rocks at the FO. He has admitted to being overly critical of them, but he has also said that he prays that he is wrong and if he is wrong, he's pledged to stay and take the heat. You can't ask more than that accountability.

Fred left last year in solidarity with his friends who hew felt were banned for no good reason other than having the nerve to get under others skins by expressing ideas different from those mean girl cheerleaders who gang up on posters with different perspectives. Most of the cheerleader types disappeared rather than take the heat last season. Pumpsie and Fred were dead on right last season and those who attacked them were completely wrong about their assessment of the 2012 team. They should be the one s eating humble pie right now. There were a few others who saw the cracks in the 2012 team early on, but who had to be careful about expressing it for fear of ridicule and possible banishment or worse yet, they might be accused of agreeing with a700. LOL! JUst knock it off with taking on the personalities. Keep it to the baseball.

"Born into fandom" ... Seriously? Yah, that gives someone a better claim as a fan.LOL!

Back on track, what is the deal with Napoli not being official yet? Making me nervous.

Napoli looks like he has a lot of physical problems. The hip is something new, and could be a deal killer if it's serious. But they are mindful of negative PR, and will try to put their best face on it.

Fact is, the guy may be broken down.

They are just in love with his Fenway bat, and are blind to most other things. Swisher is a much better gamble, but he will take at least 4 years which they aren't giving to anyone.

And will cost a draft pick which they aren't doing, either.

On the subject of "FO Ball washers" (LOL), you get a lot of that in the poster groups--including some of the others. But try checking out the tweets and comment pages. It's a different picture.

No seriously. You had it coming. Stop being an idiot. You're the gullible one thinking you have any type of credentials about anything regarding Major League Baseball. If you did, you'd be sharing your "wisdom" with people much more important than the Talksox crew. You're just a blowhard.

I'm glad you agree with me about the timing of Fred's departure! See Fred, it's not my memory that's the issue.

Look, I have nothing against Fred. I just think it's silly that he'd rant about someome not sticking around for the whole season when he ducked out himself.

Also, NO ONE on here was right about last season. Win projections ranged from a low of 83 (Muggah) to 95+. They weren't a .500 ballclub. NO ONE predicted that on here.

Back to Napoli, they better put some protective language into that contract if he does have hip problems.

Once again UN, you're wrong! They're obviously boobs for not having this contract signed a week ago! What idiots!

What's up with all the slow ass drivers down here in FL? Even the cops were going the speed limit on 95 last night. That s*** doesn't fly up north.

Not only are they slow, they don't know how to drive. As a teenager, I really can't say much because we're mainly the problem, but I'd consider myself a decent driver. I said it in the "what grinds my gears" thread, with no question Miami has the worst drivers.

I was/am one of the most critical members here, and I was all season last year as well as 2011......there is no reason to bitch and moan about the same s*** every day in every post you make. I feel the same way you do......I just don't let it consume my life.

While Fred talks about baseball, some posters attack him, CLASSIC!. C'mon guys, Fred is a great poster. Even with those posters who attack him, he always shows respect in the way he talks to them.

I think he is a very respectful poster and brings a lot to the table; sure, he can be right or wrong in some topics, but he always talks about baseball and I often find out funny his jokes and nicknames. I'm not sure why some people take his posts so personal regardless always those posts are not directed to them, anyway...

Everybody needs to calm down and back to baseball.

Hopefully all this Napoli delay is about paper work and nothing related with his physical status. Would be great have him and go after Swisher too.

Fred didn't leave not to take the heat about being wrong about his baseball opinions, so he certainly can call out people that left to avoid criticism. I give him credit for not coming back to rub everyone's face in it.

As for predicting last season, most of us tried to be positive in our bold predictions rather than go into the season on a sour note, but there were a few people who cautioned that the unaddressed pitching issue left the pitching so thin that it could unravel and get ugly. I thought it would unravel after the ASB probably in August, but it happened faster than anyone thought. It's hard to predict something that hasn't happened in 46 years. That would really be going out on a limb. However, a few posters thought that it was unlikely that everything would break right for the Sox and they needed everything to break right to contend. I was very critical of an opening day rotation with 2 rookies. I have never seen that work, and I didn't think it would work for us either. Save me the Doubs did great arguments. Bard flamed out in an historic fashion, negating Doub's pleasant surprise. People knew 2012 was in trouble, but if stated too forcefully, it would have been met with derision. Back to baseball.

The Tigers resigned Sanchez. They are looking pretty formidable again. What the hell is with the Cubs? They have a tone of money freed up and they have done nothing with it. They got worse in Theo's first season, and without the Astros in the NL, they will have last place all to themselves this season unless they make some moves. If Theo has a 3- 5 year plan, he should start showing some incremental improvement next season.

I wasn't accusing you of being a ballwasher. I was alluding to you when I mentioned the overtired cranky state trooper pumping up his overtime. We all love them.

I don't let baseball consume my life. You know nothing about my life so f*** off. As for a drinking problem, my oldest child is 27 years old and my kids have never seen me drunk, not at a party, a wedding or anything. I never drink at my home unless we are hosting a dinner party and I stay sober. In the last 10 years I rarely go to bars, so again f*** off. You know nothing about me.

I didn't throw stones at you first so don't go there. You went off on me a few weeks back in the middle of a baseball discussion spewing this same crap. I basically didn't even answer it, and even though I didn't engage you in the gutter, you put me on ignore because you were so angry. I was okay with that. Apparently your need to rage at people compelled you to take me off ignore.
