I have a feeling an extension has already been agreed upon. Just not signed.

 

Not sure what else they do about getting another RH bat.....but I assume they will acquire another bat.

 

They still need a bullpen arm.

 

I dont think they are done yet. Winter meetings just began.

I have major reservations if nothing is signed. There's nothing then to stop AGon extorting the Red Sox for more money, or playing the FA market after (presumably) lighting Fenway up for a season. Some years ago there was a case of someone who went back on a handshake deal, I can't remember who it was.

So I don't really know a lot about transactions or financial stuff, am I to understand that, in laymans terms, Agon is only signed right now for one season and might not play beyond that? Because I don't like the sound of that. On the other hand, I can't imagine the FO letting that happen. There must be some behind the scenes stuff going on right now.

I am looking forward to seeing this stud anchor the lineup in 2011, but until he signs an extension, I am not counting any chickens beyond 2011. I would like to be AGon's agent right now. He has maximized his leverage and done a fantastic job for his client. He has the FO over a barrel. I think it is pretty cool on his part.
