Gonzalez is exactly what #redsox needed. Great move by them. Loose deadline may have helped get dea done.

Almost sounds like the deal is already done as in contract

The only thing that matters is that he'll be wearing a Sox uniform in February... there is no way he only plays one season and walks. Guarantee he gets a major extension sooner rather than later.

I felt there was NO WAY the F.O. would fk this up!!

Just because he doesnt have a contract signed, doesnt mean that they dont have one agreed upon to announce before spring training.

I said nothing about my superiority to any other fan-base.

You can't read.

I'm talking only about myself as a fan, other fans who may think as I do (as opposed to f***tards who post on forums dedicated to teams they don't like) and what I think the Sox should be doing.

Yeah, you're talking about what the Sox should be doing, and then DEMANDING that they do it. Because they owe you or something.

Is this a legit question? Come on man. Without fans these organizations aren't s***. Without us fans to buy tickets' date=' beer at the games, jersey's, and everything else these f***ing clubs would all fold into nothing. We don't watch this team for our f***ing health. We put blood, sweat, tears, and money into being a fan, and it's ******** if we don't get the same in return. I'm fine with transitional years and all that but after a while we do deserve to see the team put some effort into improving themselves.[/quote']

LOLOLOLOL. So you think 'transitional years' aren't ways of putting effort into making the team better in the long run?

Oh, and lay more fluff into that monologue.

I'll be damned if we have to spend more years going out getting player's at the tail end of their careers instead of locking up younger talent for years to come. The front office needs to spend money to make money. They need to take risks. If it turns out there is concern about his arm/health then fine, I can see not offering a large contract, but offering a 28 year old a contract until he's only 33 is pointless. How fair can he tail off by 36? Even if he starts going downhill by 34 so what, that's 2 years of decline and he's gone. Younger talent will be waiting by then. And even if he puts up current David Ortiz numbers by that age it'd be fine with me. Unless there is a legitimate health risk then botching this trade so far has been ridiculous and makes the front office look bad.

So yeah, the fans know everything, and the front office is a bunch of bumbling goons looking to sabotage the organization and make Boston fans miserable.

There's a reason the people running the Red Sox are doing so. The team's track record would indicate that.

LOSER!!!!!

LOL, bet he'll still post this week even though he said he'd go away if the deal went through.

Apparently, that would lower the luxury tax threshold considerably for 2011. Of course, no one knows for sure whether they have a contract in place, but it's possible and would give the Sox a lot more flexibility for next year.

Exactly, thats what I was getting to in not so many words.

If you want to look at it as "demanding", then so be it. Yes, I believe they owe all fans of their team.

Yes because I said us fans know what to do a lot better than the front office would.

Stating a f***ing opinion doesn't mean I think fans could run this team any better, or that I can. What the f***. God forbid I disagree with how s*** gets handled and state my opinion on the matter rather than just kiss the front office's ass in every post because obviously they are more qualified than me to run a team. They are and I respect them for it, but doesn't mean I have to agree with everything that is done.

Joel Sherman: As I reported earleir in day, it looks as if #RedSox and Gonzo have parameters of deal but will wait to finalize perhaps in spring (cont)

and then:

When Gonzo can show his surgically repaired shoulder is fine. So no contract extension is part of this deal

Yeah' date=' the seats are all "sold". If it weren't for Ace Ticket there would be not current sellout streak.[/quote']

;)

I'm glad you understand this. If you did not know his, I'd be alarmed.;):D

I don't want to derail this thread. But. When I have attended games over the last four years, I have seen large chunks of seats, sometimes entire sections of seats ------ completely empty.

I guess all those people had to work late, their child was sick, or their car broke down.

This is turning into some soap opera. There's a one line story that AGon has been acquired and there is a press conference tomorrow? This is an emotional roller coaster ride.

Hearing #redsox satisfied a multiyear deal can be arranged w a-gon. have common ground on parameters. No extension will be announced now.

Not for me, I've always been optimistic that the Sox can pull through.

Tom Yawkey was a very generous and caring man. Let's not besmirch him in this way.

Yeah he was but he gave up the chance to have Jackie Robinson. And had put a blackmark on this team for a while which we still get scrutiny for.
