    Last years run with an all time terrible PP unit was clearly a fluke that couldn't be overcome two playoff runs in a row. Going 2-23 on the man advantage in a 7 game series in which all games were decided by 1 goal really hurt them. This sucks.

    Indeed. That's why I think they avoid the big fish and focus on improving multiple areas. Problem is, there isn't much out there in the way of free agency and they don't have the prospects to improve a lot through trade. They have their work cut out for them.

    They don't have to do anything major imo. We'll see changes in that organization come the June draft and the trade deadline and from then on.

    I've been tired of this whole "the lineup is too left handed, we need a RH bat" talk for a long time now. Would it be nice to have a good RH bat playing RF for this team? Obviously, but I see that as a big luxury they do not need right now. Yes, there are a lot of LHH in this lineup. The good thing is only Crawford is terrible against LHP. Ortiz was great against them last year but I see that as a bit of a fluke so I can see him regressing against lefties a lot next year so add him to that list too. Shoppach should be a nice boost to the lineup when a lefty is on the mound because Salty is garbage vs them. It's all about the pitching right now.

    So would I. I'd rather move Youk for pitching or prospects that turn into pitching though.

    The compensation for Theo will be a nothing prospect. I laughed my ass off when people first brought up Garza or Castro in exchange.

    I don't understand the interest in Oswalt. It will probably take a 3 year commitment to land Oswalt and some pretty big dollars. Giving that to a 34 year old guy with years of back issues just doesn't seem like a good risk to me. Hell there was talk of retirement this past season with the guy. I'd rather see them trade Youk and try to acquire a SP through trade.

    $3MM for 2 years is pretty decent value considering what he can give this team off the bench with what should be above average D at multiple positions.

    Yeah, Wandy costs a lot of money, Melancon is going to cost like $400k. Sox going cheap.

    Don't mind losing Lowrie at all. What good is a guy if he can never stay healthy? I think Melancon could be a nice 7th inning or even 8th inning option for this team. I'm not sold on him moving into the role of closer if that's what their plans are.

    The front office spewing this ******** about not paying luxury tax this year is a joke. If they sit back and let a few million stand in their way of trying to wash away the bad taste this team left last season then f*** them.
