We do need a reliable 4th outfielder. Baldelli is just not reliable due to his medical condition. I could see Coco or Andruw Jones as a 4th outfielder . Reddick is an injury option, but he should not break camp with the team.

Actually, I think Jacko has (in the past) given the Sox system and drafts their due.

How anyone can look at the past few Sox drafts, and the success of their drafted successes (Pedroia, Ellsbury, Buchholz, Bard, Masterson, etc.,) and somehow think that their success isn't going to continue is beyond me.

I am pretty psyched about A LOT of their minor leaguers, even if they're 2-3 years away, they will eventually either make it or they will be traded for someone very, very good. In Theo I trust.

Exactly. I thought that their drafts in 07, 08, and 09 were good. 08 better than 07, and 09 better than both. I said that top to bottom, the sox 2009 haul had the most raw talent of any other team that yr.

But my point is that a lot of the sox best prospects are in the lower levels, a point that is echoed by many scouts and scouting services. Therefore, any massive deals would either require pulling from the current MLB team, OR completely gutting their upper levels of talent.

Thanks I appreciate it.

Honestly I only brought him up as a guy that might provide a little pop from the RH side off the bench(17 HR in 82 games(yes I know, I didn't really make that obvious sorry)).That's all. I mean would it be any worse then having Jed Lowrie pinch hitting late in a crucial game?

I hope you didn't take it as I want him to be the full time LF and replace Bay:lol:

The problem with Andruw is not talent, it's his work ethic and conditioning.

He has a good arm, and he pops the ball out of the park at a pretty good rate. If he were to find religion and comes to realize that he has to work a bit if he wants to make real money, he could be a good value pick up. At least, he isn't lame like last years pickups.

Agree to disagree then.

I'd rather have someone "lame" than someone whose work ethic comes into question.

Saito is cleared waivers and heading to free agency. if the sox picked up his option they would have had to pay him 6 million. the Sox said they are still interested in him though.

Should we pick him up or use the money in other places?

Use the money in other places.

Saito was a good guy to have in the middle to bottom of your bullpen. If you can get him at a reasonable price there's no reason not to go after him, especially since (IIRC) we can't offer him arbitration.

i would use the money in other places because i don't think saito will take that much of a pay cut to stay in Boston where he could go elsewhere and close.

Neither is an ideal situation, but at least the fat guy is available to play when needed, and he is still an above-average fielder and he can pop the ball out. it was very frustrating with Baldelli this season. When he was needed most, he was unavailable.

How 'bout we agree neither Baldelli nor Bartolo Colon's cousin?

Posted
Yeah' date=' we can agree on that.:D What about Coco?[/quote']

I like Coco.

He can go-get it, he can run the bases pretty well, he can hit some, and he's a switch-hitter.

Don't know what more you could ask for.

I would be ok with Coco being the 4th OF. But will he be ok with it?

Coco would be excellent as our 4th OF but im with BSN07' date=' would he be willing to warm the bench for us when he could go else where and start?[/quote']

Nah he'll go to the Yankees and be their 7th OF, you know, "Pride, History, Pinstripes!" is just too appealing. Neither money nor a starting gig matter more than playing for such a classy organization.

I agree, why would anyone want to play for anyone else when they can go to the yankees and brag about the 26 WS titles that they weren't part of ?

A longshot' date=' but could sizemore become available?[/quote']

i would stick with ellsbury in center. but if sizemore was gotten it would lessen the reason to sign bay or holliday.

I would play for the Yankees just so Gom could chant my name in roll call.

 Dude you've been on a roll for the past few weeks

I was thinking to move one of Ells/Sizemore to LF in case we dont get bay or holliday

*sigh*.....

.....

oh, I might as well.

SIZEMORE? Are you freaking KIDDING ME? I know the Guardians are blowing it up but there is NO WAY Grady Sizemore is on the block. If nothing else, the Guardians won't trade him this year because it would constitute selling low.

Sizemore is signed through 2012. At 2012 he will cost his team $8.5M a year. that is the most expensive year in his deal.

The Guardians would be nuts to deal the guy. Nuts.

I see Sizemore being even less available then Hanley/Felix/AG. Unless the Sox went in and said here's John Farrell, Ellsbury, and about 10 prospects of your choice

bostonule25, If Sizemore is in LF and Ellsbury is in Cleveland, who plays CF for the Sox?

Listen I know I am the pot calling the kettle black, but lately I'm trying to make an effort to put a little more thought and a lot less pipe into my trade proposals. And Sizemore doesn't make a lot of sense. CF isn't a position of need IMO, and the amount of prospects that it would take to get him just doesn't seem worth it. Besides it's not like he makes a ton of $. 8.5 million is the highest AAV? Ha that's nothing for a player of Sizemores ability. Atleast Hanley and Felix are going to be expensive soon.

Unless the Guardians owner invests money like Frank Reynolds, he probably will be an Indian for the length of the contract.

I never said Ellsbury would go to Cleveland, he'll be our CF.

The Guardians are in no shape to win anytime soon. But i do agree that they'd be selling him low, especially since he's coming off surgery. I can see a deadline deal happen though. Cleveland should just take the prospects because by 2012 Cleveland will still be in rebuilding form

never happen. sizemore will not be traded. they will have to sink them in more prospects than pedo has at a Little Miss America beauty pageant

The bolded part is what he doesn't understand, and quite frankly i don't understand it either.
