I am surprised that any one is still watching this s*** team. It takes them 12 innings to beat a really s*** team at home. Can anyone other than fantasy league afficionados name even one position player on the A's. What a stinking pile of maure they send out masquerading as a major league baseball team. How many people can even pronounce the name of their lone All Star.

This s*** team is 3 back of you guys in the L column.
It could be 2 after today. We are playing on the road where we suck against a team with the best record in the league while the Yankees are playing at home against a little league team. It doesn't change the fact that the Yankees suck this year.

I would just like to point out that the Sox are 3-4 vs. said little league team this year, and only 5-4 vs. said s*** team.

After today' date=' the Red Sox have 3 games left against the Angels. The Yankees have 10 games left against the Angels.[/quote']

...and the Sox have 3 more with Oakland. Maybe they can take 2 of 3 and get back to .500 on the season series:D.

Also, in those losses the A's had either Mike Sweeney or Frank Thomas in the #4 hole. I guess you just overlooked these facts. The fact is that the version of the A's that the Yankees are playing is truly a AAA or little league team. We played a different version of that team earlier in the season. Good luck in your 10 contests against the Angels.

Wow, Pettitte looks like he has great stuff today... or is it that he is facing a little league team that has Bobby Crosby with his .258 Avg., .314 OBP, and .370 Slg% batting 3rd. Why am I watching this crap. I'll watch the Rays instead.

Pettitte vs Duch is quite a matchup. Duch would be the leader in the CY voting if his team could hit. That sub 2 ERA in the AL is ridiculous.

So is the lineup that he has backing him up.

It was only a matter of time before we got back into striking distance. The offense isn't even clicking yet. It'll be a good second half.

It's closer to the last third than last half.

Are you really gonna lump Blanton in with Harden, like he was somehow the 2nd best starter they had instead of the worst?

Sweeney played this weekend :dunno:. Thomas wasn't even on the A's during the first series with the Sox.

He led the A's with 16 wins in 2006 and his 14 wins in 2007 were 1 win behind Danny Haren. So, yeah he was one of their better pitchers. The other two guys that pitched against the Yankees will not get to that level this year.

Mike Sweeney, former batting Champion from KC did not play this weekend.

While the Big Hurt wasn't on the A's for the firs series, he was on the team and he played in May, and he put the hurt on the Red Sox. Here are links to the box scores:

I know that my posts in this thread are pissing you off, but have a little command of the facts before you look to contradict me.<_>

I know, I'm the first guy to refer to the games after the All Star Break as the second half.

I know' date=' I'm the first guy to refer to the games after the All Star Break as the second half.[/quote']I am just pointing out that it is later than you think. There are about 60 games left, of which you will play the Angels 10 times, and you still have Rasner and Ponson in your rotation. Matsui is throughie. Damon is a DH, and posada can't throw to second. There's a lot to straighten out before you can seriously consider making a championship run.

The only thing I'm worried about is Monday against Minny. It's July. Way too early to be concerned about the big picture. Like I said, the offense still isn't clicking and we've won 8 of the last 11.

Damon coming back is only going to help. As long as Pettitte, Mussina and Chamberlain keep pitching the way they are, I'll take my chances every 5 days with Rasner and Ponson. Hughes will get healthy soon, and we'll see where we stand.

Dont try to sugarcoat this a700. The Yankees offense has been a serious problem of late. But their rotation and pen have been dynamite. With Damon coming back, you get rid of one of the automatic outs. If Matsui doesnt come back, I see a trade in the works.

As for you guys, the offense is there. The rotation is solid. The closer is dynamite. But the bridge to Papelbon is awful and that was your downfall in this series. If Oki was the Oki of last yr, Becks doesnt get the opportunity to lose yesterday. If Oki was the Oki of last yr, Wake doesnt get the opportunity to start the 8th. It is obvious where the weaknesses lie. And Francona has lost faith in the guys. Now Masterson is the great big hope for the middle relief. I think he can do it, but if he doesnt, the sox are setting up to be fleeced at the deadline. Cause without a better bridge, this team doesnt win the WS again and I think thats the ultimate goal.

 I'm not pissed I just thought it was funny that you lumped Blanton in with Harden with the year he's having, especially with much, much better guys in the rotation like Duescherer. As for the little league comment, I just dont see how that can be true for a team with the best ERA in baseball despite Blanton's 4.96. Yes, they have problems hitting, but they still have a winning record. It's not like we are talking about the Nationals or the Pirates here.

Kind of funny how a post defending one's ability to manage the facts includes comparisons to the Nationals. The A's July record and offensive prowess is on par with the ineptitude demonstrated by Washington.

The fact that it is their July record I'm talking about is relevant, since the team has undergone serious changes with respect to who the regulars in the lineup are. I looked at Gameday on either Saturday or Sunday and was struck by the fact that there were 5 regulars in the lineup batting in the .220-.240 range. FIVE. Calling them AAA is an insult to most AAA teams.

..but their pitching is much better, even without Harden and Blanton. Is that somehow irrelevant?

Is it irrelevant? When they are losing games 3-2, 2-1 vs. Washington's 5-2, 6-3, I'd suggest it is. Their pitching is better, but their offense, right now, is worse.
Posted
On a trivial note, the July ERA of the A's is 3.60 and that of the Nats is 3.70. I guess that 0.10 earned runs per nine IP could hypothetically constitute "much better." :dunno:

lots of anxiety out there

the yank fans have hope and the sox fans are fukindisgusted over the weekend sweep by the halos.

the sox have 3 in seattle then entertain the yankees with beckett opening up friday.

the pen has been exhausted due to the shortcomings of an 11-1 dice k and the rookie contigency that hasnt been all that good this summer..

its hard for me to get worried here when the puzzle gets finished with a fkn middle guy

is eric gagne still available?

Bad call gives the Twins a run. I can't say the runner was definitely out but it looked like his hand snapped back when molina's glove was close to his hand, indicating that there was probably contact.

I can't believe that the umpire did not throw Molina out.
