Veras and Ramirez have been our two best middle relievers and boy have they been good. BTW, Robertson isnt "fodder", he's a 23 yr old prospect drafted in 2006 who has been unhittable as a pro.

Can't knock the performance of Edwar and Veras - if you feel confident with them going forward that's your prerogative.

Let's see how Robertson deals with MLB hitting before we call him "the next big thing". Why wasn't he called up when Joba made the move?

he was just promoted to AAA. Veras was the name called up at that time anyway. To be honest with you, Ohlendorf has been the only rookie reliever who has disappointed.

Albaladejo was solid and then got hurt

Edwar has been dominant as well

Veras has been very solid and has the stuff to be a setup man (something I dont think Edwar is capable of due to his lack of control).

and none of these guys were considered our big relief prospect options. Cox, Melancon, Robertson are the three highest end relief arms in our system and they have been dominant. All 3 should see time in the bigs this yr

So Giambi has worn a G-String and grown a mustache for superstitious reasons. What's next... sacrificing chickens?

He needs to hit the bull for the trifecta.

ahh yes

the mighty trifecta or as they used to say in the barrios

""a cock in each hole"'....

the trifecta

the yanks are playing with confidence

if they got to play all their games in the nl they'd be a threat to win the pennant

that said

you still have to play the games and its still baseball

The yankees should just bring up the whole AAA team. That would be the right thing to do. They should be able to help them win the 27th ring.

There are guys in Single A I'd rather trot out there than Farnsworth.

The bloom is off Rasner's rose as he has been getting hammered lately. He's been wrecking my Fantasy team. I am releasing him tonight. I can hardly weight (sp) to see Ponson. The good news for Yankee fans is that Cano may finally have found his swing.

BTW Jeter continues to perform offensively like Lugo.

Steinbrenner said he didn't want to comment on the manner in which Randolph was fired because he's not "one of those talk-radio types" who spews on subjects he knows little about.

Really? Seriously?

I think that was sarcasm, tongue-in-cheek humor. Well, either that or this guy's a bigger f***ing idiot than originally thought.

So why arent you looking to move him in fantasy? If you need taker let me know what you would want.

gee,i thought rasner would win 18 games this year....

he still may

but it will be in columbus rather than the bronx

Are the Yankees talking about trading him to Washington or something? Otherwise he would have no reason to be in Columbus other than as a visiting player. The 28 year affiliation between the Yankees and Clippers ended prior to last season. Triple A baseball for the Yankees is now played in a town called Scranton, Pennsylvania. Get with the program buddy

Sadly Joba did look really good tonight. 7 K's and 1 BB, pretty impressive. If the Yanks could get a good arm or two for their pen they have the potential to be a deadly team.

I'll be more impressed when he goes against a stronger team than Pittsburgh. So far he has faced Kansas City, Houston, San Diego, and Pittsburgh...none of which I consider decent offensive teams.

Well...

First, I like Joba. I think that he's a great athlete with the character to potentially make it in New York (cue music: If he can make it there, he'll make it anywhere...), and MLB needs great athletes able to endure the media spotlight. Joba will be good for baseball, IMO.

Joba did well--I'd rather that the Yankees lose, but I'm happy to see a rookie developing into a star.

Second, the Yankees ARE a deadly team. This morning's BP ELO rankings show the New York Yankees as the fourth-best team in baseball, behind only the Red Sox, the Cubs and the Angels. (The Phillies are right behind the Yankees in ELO ranking. There's a big drop from there to the next tier of teams, including the A's and the Rays.) If they get much better, they may be the best team in MLB.

However, as I write, they are not the best team in baseball--Boston is. Even if the Yankees were somehow as good as Boston suddenly, they'd still be 5.5 GB. We should not underestimate the Yankees, but neither should we underestimate the Red Sox. :D

ny has had the luxury of playing the easiest interleague schedule in history.

honest to God theyre blessed,of course who knew sandiego was going to blow this year and the mets may give them a run but cinci and the pirates are truly awful.

how do they get the f***ing pirates in back to back years??

anyways, you still have to play the game and joba did well.

its the end of june and theres a lot of tinkering to be done over the next 5 weeks so what we see now may not be the team we see in august.

the tribe are packing it in and theyre only 7-8 games out?

shameful

they had 2 of the 3 cy finalists last year pitching with the chance to win the pennant last fall, they wouldve won the world series if they couldve squeezed 1 more win out of their studs...

this year theyre packing it in 10 weeks into the season??

simply disgraceful and another reason why baseball is going to be in trouble sooner than later.

ny, boston, chicago(cubs) and the west coast are fine,,,st louis will always be fine but the rest of baseball is sadly ignored...florida has 2 exciting teams who are competetive now, they have cheap seats, they have a gigantic fan base of latino's who eat sleep and s*** baseball yet they dont draw 30,000 asses combined in miami and tampa...

fold these teams today for the sake of the game...

Joba has the stuff and the location to smoke any team. It is the pitchability and the pitch calling that needs to be consistent for him to have a successful season from top to bottom. Early on, when he was making the change to the rotation, he hardly threw the curve. It was pretty easy to figure him out in starts 1 and 2 since the slider was breaking out of the zone and the heater was the only pitch he could locate. The curveball has started to get integrated in and it is nice. He locates it better and more consistently than he does the slider. It gives him more of a change of speed than the slider does and it has a deep break. If he is locating 2 of his three pitches, he is dominant. If he locates all 3, he wont be stopped. In terms of his changeup, I have only seen him use it a couple times a game. It was the pitch that got hammered in most of his MiLB reviews and for good reason. It doesnt have any break to it. It will likely be the focus of his offseason, because right now it isnt even worth mixing in.

15-6. Nice.

Absolute spanking. That grand slam DelGado hit went about eleventeen billion feet, it was a moonshot of comic proportions. Petey v. Ponsoon tonight.

I almost thought it was July and I was watching the homerun derby, There were some huge shots in the "game." And by "game" I mean the few hours when the Yankees watched the Mets score runs and play baseball.
