...and whoever's playing the Yankees - 2008 Game Thread

The Yankees have not played any better. Their run production is still down.

While their run production is still down, the team as a whole has been playing better. Yankee pitchers have combined to give up only 6 runs in the last 4 games, as opposed to 20 in the 3 games prior.

Girardi has decided to use Mo for two innings at a clip to save the season. That is a temporary fix.

I hope he uses him for two as often as possible and fatigues his arm down the stretch.

Mo had everything to do with it. He almost singlehandedly has saved the Yankees season-- at least temporarily. The Yankees have not played any better. Their run production is still down. Girardi has decided to use Mo for two innings at a clip to save the season. That is a temporary fix.

Mo has been the savior of our team for 12 yrs running now. That isnt new. But for the first time in awhile, we have a reliable bridge to him. This makes things very difficult for opposing teams. We have 3 pitchers who give quality (Joba, Pettitte and Moose) and two who are hit or miss. If we can meander through 6 innings with a lead or tied, we dont seem to give those up.

In terms of how the O is doing, lets put that into context shall we? Our catalyst and leadoff hitter, JD, who is OPSing .857 and also stealing bases is on the DL. As is our RBI man Matsui who is hitting .323. If you took away 2 .320ish hitters with .400ish OBP, and replaced them with a rookie slap hitter and a defensive catcher in the lineup, your O is gonna take a hit.

In terms of fatiguing Mo' date=' he is on pace for 75IP this yr. That is right around his avg IP for the past 5 seasons.[/quote']

I metioned that in the other thread, along with the point that his last three appearances were indeed longer but were also spread out over 8 days.

In the context of what 700 posted and what it said, this response can lead to only two conclusions. The first is that you are woefully stupid, something that I have not eliminated as a possibility. The second is that you are being disingenuous. For your sake, I'm going to assume it is the latter.

If it is the second case, then you know the season pace is irrelevant to what 700 posted because, as he stated, the recent pace has accelerated. And, as a trained medical professional should willingly admit, this is when fatigue occurs.

McClouth smoked that ball.

You know, I'm looking at a picture of Veras and then I look up his age at B-R, and I can only come up with one thing. He had to have been born at the same hospital as Miguel Tejada. No way he's 28 with that mug.

theyve won 5 straight since they were on the brink of disaster last week losing the 1st 2 at home and they showed their grit by scratching out a couple of big wins against boston then slapping the upstart rays around.

they still need help.

good to see posada rip girardi a new ******* today in the press

i think the veterans hate this guy with a passion and arent afraid of publicly stating such

Of Posada:

"We plan on him being a catcher," Girardi said. "We signed him as a catcher, but he had an injury this year and that's something we have to deal with."

We plan on him being "A" catcher. Why did he not say "THE" catcher, or "OUR" catcher, or state that "HE WILL" be catching?

Posada's doing a great job behind the plate tonight. Maybe he should spend less time complaining and whining to the press...:thumbdown
