  1. He won't get fired. The biggest problems we have, by far, is with the players that were on the team in 2025 (Narvaez, Story, Anthony, Crochet & Bello).
  2. Sample size is not a real thing in RS discussions.
  3. Unless you are talking about a team icon like Papi, Yaz, etc., then no one is off-limits. I love watching Ranger pitch, but it never hurts to listen.
  4. That was always going to be the problem with acquiring a DH. Replacing a Duran or an Anthony for a $30M player, was never going to make sense in the off-season.
  5. The issue wasn't the acquisitions. Breslow had a great off-season. The issue was the guys that we carried over from 2025. Narvaez .553 Story .547 & IL Anthony .675 & IL Crochet 6.30 & IL Bello 6.34 & AAA And since nobody suggested that we replace those 5 guys, nothing was going to change.
  6. Monasterio should've challenged that one. It's the 9th inning, and you have two challenges left. There is no sense in saving them.
  7. I'm not even usually a fan of the sacrifice, but with a 5-1 lead, you have to play for one run, especially that late in the game. And Seigler has a career .533 OPS. You have Yoshida, with at least a L/R advantage, and then your two best hitters. If you are not sacrificing in that situation, you are never going to sacrifice.
  8. 1st and 2nd, no outs, Seigler up, and Yoshida, Abreu and Contreras coming up, a sacrifice should be automatic.
  9. Someone should tell Narvaez not to walk away from HP until after the umpire makes his call. The umpire had not yet made the call when Narvaez started walking away. The ump never going to call it a ball at that point. And while a small piece of the pitch might have caught the strike zone, it is entirely possible that the catcher might not choose to challenge.
  10. It was BA, BP, MLB & Fangraphs that were heavily promoting those kids as the Big Three.
  11. Dumbest idea ever. Depriving bad teams of the best draft picks will simply ensure they continue to be bad teams.
  12. Which is, of course, the reason we traded him.
  13. It could be, but Adell shouldn't be expensive and we'd have him for one more year.
  14. Remember the kerfuffle when Pedroia started?
  15. I am generally not a fan of a sacrifice bunt. But the RS have had several opportunities to sacrifice guys with the bottom of the order. It just like bad baseball to not do so with our bottom guys.
  16. There is some conjecture on my part, but I think the LAA handled Adell as badly as anyone I've ever seen. They promoted him after an awful AAA season. He had a 43/10 K/W with -0- HRs in 121 ABs. It's almost impossible to be that bad in the PCL. And it wasn't like he was aging out at age 20. And then when he predictably struggled, they yanked him back and forth, never allowing him to develop. That said, I see some development finally. He now has an OPS+ of 101 over the past 4 years, and more importantly, about 33 HRs/600 ABs. And he kills lefties with about a .900 over the past 3 seasons. He hits well in Fenway (SSS). Part of my approach here is that we need two bats. I don't think we will get two expensive bats and don't like giving up a lot of minor league talent to get a really good bat. If we get a cheaper bat like Adell, it'll allow us some flexibility to acquire a more expensive ($$$ or prospects) bat. How many other targets are there out there?
  17. Fair point. But his weekly numbers are quite strong. FWIW, I have no problem trading him. I just happen to think he is still a very good player. That said, if a team like Philly was putting Painter on the table, I'd be glad to involve Duran.
  18. In short, Jarren Duran has been awful this season. That's about as shallow an analysis as possible. Even the one-minute version is that Duran had a bad start. He has been outstanding since the start of May. IRT to the two poor, poor fans that suggested that Duran should've killed himself in his attempted suicide, had Duran charged into the stands and beaten the guy into a hospital stay, I'd have laughed at the guy.
  19. It's a good indication of well you are actually playing. Through the end of April, the Reds were 20-11, but they Py W/L was only maybe 15-16. The 15-16 indicates that they weren't really a 20-11 team, but had gone 7-0 in one-run games, and separately, 2-0 in extras. They are 15-26 since then.
  20. Get a thumper like Adell for DH and someone like Adames, Devers, or Chapman for the IF.
  21. I've been preaching this since April. Alonso instead of Contreras is probably a negative. Bregman instead of Durbin a small plus. Bichette/Mayer about a push. A Marte/Tolle trade probably a negative. Schwarber was likely never a consideration on either side. The reason our offense sucks is because: Narvaez -150 in OPS Story -194, then injured Anthony -184, then injured And this is the issue, because it is these three guys, we never, ever going to replace them in the off-season.
  22. About 5 teams per year wind up more than +/- 6 or more games. It is pretty accurate.
  23. The beauty of this team, IMHO, is we have very good strengths, and easily fixable weaknesses.
  24. There was little-to-nothing we could've done. Just for fun, let's suppose we added Contreras, Suarez, Gray and Durbin. AND then added Alonso, Bregman, and Bichette. There is a pretty good chance that we'd be in last place with a 29-41 record. All three of those guys would be marginal improvements at best.
  25. I'd have traded him earlier, but after we acquired Suarez, it felt like we needed his offense. He's still a really good player.
