    That's why it is mostly a waste of time to get overly amped or overly negative too early. For hitters, there is almost always ebb and flow, usually reverting to last years stats. You have to watch out for very young players and older players.

    Just an example of someone that needed to say something negative. The very fact that he needed to refer to Contreras as an ex-catcher was a dead giveaway.

    Guys like that generally wind up pretty close to where they are expected to be. Pitching is different, but the hitters that are key are the ones with more variance. That's usually the oldest and youngest players. Anthony, Mayer, Durbin and Narvaez. Story would've been included, because of his age, but age might've already taken care of that.

    That's why these early-seasons polls are worthless. Our rotation (B-), including Bello as an SP, over the past 28 days is probably the best in BB. Ceddanne (C+) should be on the AS team. Duran (F) is #10 in fWAR in May.

People thought I was making it up when I said fans will complain about getting nothing for Devers, and then complain about trading the future superstars we got for Devers. But all that aside, even the worst Yankee trolls should know better than to blame Breslow for trading Betts.

    Are you implying that I am still annoyed at our crack medical staff because they allegedly told Buchholz in 2011 that 'we don't MRI boo-boos'?

    Sometimes it is just one simple fix.

    Suppose one does not want to resolve their ego issues, is it then still a problem? For some reason, my wife wanted to know. Past that, we can't make the first trade we see, if it is an overpayment. That said, with this rotation, incredibly, even without Crochet, we need an additional bat (& BP arm), even if it is a slight overpayment. More of the issue might be finding teams that want to tank. Kind of a cognitive dissonance thing.

    That's what makes it beautiful. Barring an injury, offensive linemen rarely change their performance. But hitters can go from 0-22 to 11-22 overnight, and no one in the world knows why.

    Not deemed serious is kind of relative, imo. If Story is out 2 weeks or 2 months, I don't care. Crochet, OTOH, ...........

    That is 100% what I had in mind. Our 7-8-9 inning guys have done really well. But some of the others just don't look like they are going to win games for us, though they might blow less games.

    Throw in the 9/1 K/W. He's most a wildcard right now, but he looks a lot better than some of the other guys we re-cycle thru.

    1-I'd target Adames, but wouldn't pay full freight. My figuring is that SF paid $182M/7, or $26M per. They backloaded the contract, and since he is starting to age, SF shouldn't get the benefit of the backload. They kick in ~ $26M. In return, they get a real, but not premium prospect. 2-I like Garcia a lot, but I'd be shocked if KC traded him, unless it was a robbery.

    That's not completely unfair, but when we traded for Schwarber, he didn't have a single inning at 1st, and still gave it a shot. He was awful, but one of my favorite moments of that season was when he fielded a routine grounder at 1st, ran to 1st for the 3rd out, and started jumping up and down in a mock celebration. I think it made the team more relaxed and they appreciated the effort.

    It feels like we are hitting better, but these are the ERAs over the past 4 weeks from our SPs: Gray 2.00 Tolle 2.35 Suarez 3.80 Early 1.78 Bello 2.67 Total 2.50 The 10-3 is a bit misleading since Bello's opener might take a couple of losses in games where he cannot get a win, but that's pretty darn good. We need another RP. Winning every game with a Slaten-Whitlock-Chapman close-out is less than sustainable, unless we get about 80 appearances from them.

    14/8 K/W in his last 11 games in AAA. Guerrero has a 9/1 K/W in the majors.

    I'm not seeing anything in his stats. Guerrero has been performing better.

    Small sample sizes, blah blah blah, reversion to the mean, blah blah blah. I mentioned this once before that in the RSN, and 0-4 means your career was over. And no one objected.

    That's not unusual in the US, but it is more common among RS fans. It's like you are either a star, or a bum.
