    But which pitchers? I am trying to see the appeal, I understand trying to minimize the young pitchers IPs, but outside of just shutting them down, I don't see how that works.

    What does the rotation and the 26-man become if we bring in any of the SPs people are proposing? My issue with the concept is that I like all 13 of our pitchers.

    They once scheduled an Oakland game the day after a Sunday night Yankee game. Game over by 12, maybe at the airport by 2:00, 5 hour flight, and a 3 hour time change, and an hour to the hotel/check-in makes it close to noon. A couple of hours sleep and they had to play.

    Lindor is an under-water contract. Without payroll relief, he shouldn't get anything back. Let alone Mayer, Duran+. I see no way Lindor happens. Arias will likely be our 2027 SS. I also see no interest in Peralta with our rotation. But I do like Weaver.

    I'm blessed to be from the Bronx, so we think differently. Has it ever occurred to everyone that Breslow might not have been interested in Neto at all? Drop a dime to one of your 'insider' writers to plant a story that the RS are heavily interested in Neto. Toboni probably doesn't believe it, but has to consider that possibility.

    It goes without saying that any player that requires a drastic over-payment, will be a bad deal.

    Like I said, I don't understand the concept that old guys are less risky than kids.

    IRT to the number of pitches, being ahead or behind on the count affects the value of stealing. My preference is when you are ahead on the count and the pitcher needs to throw a strike. But once you get to 2-2, you might as well wait until 3-2. Way too many variables. Edit-It's worth noting that he is 8-1 SB/CS when the batter is ahead of the count, 6-1 when the count is even, and 1-0 when the batter is behind in the count.

    We have a little hitting. Durbin started off in a slump was mostly the problem. With Durbin hitting, and with Story being replaced by guys that are league-average hitters, we've reverted to a league-average offense. Mead hopefully is enough to move up to maybe 12-13th overall.

    I'm done with all that now that we have Mead. Make do with the current alignment. If we feel the need to make a move, upgrade a LF RH bat and/or add someone like Weaver from the Mets. Don't over-think and don't overpay.

    I'm not sure Cheng can hit well enough to stick, and Monasterio and Seigler have been doing well. I'd wait on Story until I was sure he could hit, or until Monasterio and/or Seigler have played their way out.

    I see no way SD comes up with enough coin to make it a viable trade. I'd be asking for $150M in salary relief.

    I've heard the of the #9 hitter leading off issue from 50 years back. I never bought it, but it is not new. I'd say the biggest part is that you don't steal simply because you want to. You have to have the right lead, which probably doesn't occur that often. It's hard enough for stealing to be profitable. If you force a runner to go, you likely fall below the 75% threshold that is needed.

    But the guy with the RBI didn't actually score. It was the guy that got on base that scored.

    I'm not sure we will see much more activity. RP is possible, but our first 7 is pretty good. I'm not sure Breslow will trade a good prospect to make a good BP better. SP is possible, but the fit is tough. Our rotation will continue to be Gray, Suarez, Tolle, Bennett, and Sandoval, with Bello filling in as a bulk RP. Trading for an SP, so we can replace the innings-restricted kids, won't work unless they get regular work. Even if we were going to a 6-man rotation, I think the #6 would be Bello in a 2nd inning role. SS is a fit issue. I doubt we obtain a long-term solution, since Arias is likely to be up in 2027. And a one-year solution might not provide much of an upgrade over Story, IKF, Monasterio & Seigler. A RH LF platoon would be a positive, but we might want to look at Jones a bit longer.

    Right now, he's like a 12-13 HR guy. Guys generally get bigger and stronger. And his minor league numbers suggest he will hit with moderate+ power.

    I don't see the end game for that strategy. It depends on about another week of numbers, but we might be finished. Just imvho: I don't expect a change at catcher, since we don't want to screw up the pitching. The only question mark I see in the BP is Gamboa. But how much resources would you want to invest in upgrading your #8? Maybe a RH LF, but contrary to popular opinion, Duran is playing better, and Jones has done okay (SSS). There is talk about adding another SP, but that only works if you have a slot open. We have 5-6 SPs, and I wouldn't sit any one of them. At SS, I think our intention is to go with Mead, Durbin, and Arias for the next 4-5-6 years. I see no reason to change that approach. I don't think Monasterio is hurting us at SS, and we will have Story and IKF back at some point if Monasterio stumbles.

    I had my questions. He seemed like a high-floor, medium ceiling type. I was figuring 18 HRs, .275, maybe 20 HRs, with a GG-level glove at 3rd. He still kind of looks like that.

    I suppose that the bright side to that is that we are becoming more popular.

    I do not expect to stop it. But I like to explain the virtue of patience. As well as looking at peripheral stats to divine whether or not the back of the baseball card stats are indicative of how a player is doing.
