  1. Just an interesting aside, when we drafted Benintendi, the scouting reports mentioned that he was already completely built out, and not to expect additional development from the maturity perspective.
  2. Not to diminish aerobics, flexibility, and balance, but no one should ignore strength. The less muscle you have, the more pressure on tendons and ligaments. It helps build bone density. It helps with ordinary functions like picking up groceries, climbing stairs. I've seen older people struggle to get out of deep-cushioned chairs. Even walking on ice is easier if you have good musculature. And God forbid you fall. You want your muscles to take the brunt of the fall rather than just the bones, ligaments, and tendons.
  3. LAD has had 4 LFs in four years, and the NYMs haven't settled on a 3B or CF for the same period.
  4. I agree. Assuming health, I expect Mayer to play 145-150 games, with only time off for the really tough lefties. For all the talk about adding a 3B, I think the FO always penciled in Mayer as out l/t 3b.
  5. Lots of teams have rotating holes. The LAD spend a gazillion $$$ and really only have 5 regular l/t guys on the field. The NYMs have like 4 guys locked into positions. I think this happens to everyone.
  6. Don't you need to know what we're trading away before you grade the quiz?
  7. Freaking Denzel is one of the finest actors of his era. And they gave him an Oscar for one of the worst movies ever made.
  8. You'll be three games worse off this year for the exchange, and can pick up a ton of young talent.
  9. If you want to have some fun, Yoshida + some cash + a low-ish pitching prospect for O'Neill. Or throw in one of our 7/8/9 type of guys, like Yoshi + Sandoval + enough cash to even it out.
  10. Or they signed Framber so they could move Skubal.
  11. Not happening whatsoever. Aside from Ray being twice as valuable as Masa, I assume either Devers or Eldridge will be SF's DH this year.
  12. It's not an exam. It is an endeavor where, in totality, half of every decision will be correct, and half will be incorrect. 50% makes him perfectly average.
  13. Fred also boycotted in 2004, 2007, 2013, and 2018.
  14. I would do #2. I wouldn't do #1 unless we have an extension worked out. Shaw might be a 15 fWAR/5 player for us. Even a good Hoerner might only be 5 WAR, if that. Tolle is more valuable than Witherspoon, but not that much more valuable.
  15. Aren't those kind of opposites? Right now, a lot of the criticism is that Breslow refuses to go all-in on a particular player.
  16. It had to be deliberate. Either the owner or the GM wanted to make a point, and wasted an entire draft doing so. Even if you were 90% sure a pitcher was the right pick at a given slot, the chances of 20 straight 90% choices is still only 12%.
  17. Is that true? The only pick I liked better than Witherspoon, at that slot, was Irish, and only because he was a catcher.
  18. 2021. One of the craziest things I've ever seen. I'm a BPA kind of guy, but can bend that rule slightly. But 20 pitchers is insane, even you had absolutely -0- pitching to start with. The career totals of the 20 pitchers drafted (I know, it's still early) is 0.9.
  19. There was a great article in FG many years back. Certain trends take over, and at the time, it was not signing older guys. Those guys then become fine pickups on short contracts. We still need a RH thumper, but in a vacuum, IKF at $6M is a good deal. IF he gets 600 ABs, he'll likely have a 2+ bWAR.
  20. I was going to edit my post to say that we can't really do that, even if we wanted to. There might be some coin-flip guys later in the draft. But earlier, you have to go for the best player available. And even with that said, we are less likely to go after college OFs since they won't get playing time for the next four years.
  21. IMHO, this is one of the zig when they zag moves. If other teams are pursuing HRs, 'maybe' you chase good defense at a far lower cost.
  22. If we were to trade Duran, now that we have IKF, I am far less interested in Paredes. I'm curious what type of thunderous RH bats/no glove types are available.
  23. It wasn't that long ago that the FO got hammered for not drafting pitching.
  24. I'm not a Bostonian, but if I had the time, I'd love to take a walk to see the Revolutionary War historical markers. Cask & Flagon across the street from Fenway is kind of historical also.
  25. No, Gasper is neither a 2b nor a 3b. You'd still be ahead.
