    I think most ethnic food is Americanized. I'm not sure anyone from Mexico would recognize our version of Mexican food. One of the things I like about Chinese is that, around here, these places are hole in the wall type of places. A couple of tables, that no one sits at. Very little variety on the food. It's a handful of woks. So all you pay for is the food and prep, and the overhead is nothing. And I'm not sure if Boston has them, but almost every Halal trucks serves a very nice meal.

    I like chick peas, but hummus is by far their best use. And there are 100 ways to make hummus, so it goes with everything. Okay, I'm going back to BB.

    I never understood the fascination with Japanese food. IMO, very expensive and very mundane. Even in Japan, I ate mostly Indian. The biggest drawback to being in NY is that it is difficult to find good Indian. And I am surprised you left of Chinese, or Malaysia (fusion of Chinese & Indian).

    You have to match the injuries to the positions. Is playing LF going to impact his finger? I'd imagine that hitting a 100 mph FB is much harder on your hand.

    Except for Rutschman, that's also our 2028 lineup. And except for Rut & Contreras, I think it is also our 2029 & 2030 lineup. For Drewski, in addition to what we discussed yesterday, I think one of Breslow's is covered with 2026 options. And one of his walls is his roster-by-year going out 6 years. And listing starters, backups, prospects and lottery tickets.

    The worst part of the draft is when I have decided not to take a particular position because the depth factors look similar between #1 and #10. And since everyone thinks the same, some guys fall way past their projection. Then I crack and draft the guy. And he performs just like the #10 guy. Raleigh was that guy for me this year.

    We still have work to do, but this was a big game against the O's. For all practical purposes, the O's now need to sweep the next three to have a shot at us. Taking baby steps.

    I'm probably same, but just the opposite. My E-mail calendar was filled with every possible event. It was beautiful. I could look at my calendar a year in advance. Then I could see every possible gap in the calendar where I could fill special projects. Then I could spot any remaining openings where I'd schedule the stuff I didn't really want to do.

    It's possible. But I'm betting it's more complex. I'm thinking that Breslow (all GMs) know who is available, readily available, and who you will need to overpay for, and sometimes specific prospects. I don't think Breslow called Mil and randomly asked about Mead, and Mil randomly asked about Harrison, et al. Breslow probably knew he could get Durbin, and then decided on whether he wanted Durbin + Suarez, or Bregman. I'd also wager it was the same with Alonso. Once he had an option on Contreras, that affects his offer price on Alonso. I feel like a took a class on Boolean Algebra that covered baseball trades.

    I think that's a pretty fair assessment of my approach, open up to different interpretations. IMVHO, I think it starts with: What do we need? That's simple. We needed a #2 SP, a 1B, and either a 2B or 3B. What do we want? Still straightforward, but with a little less clarity. We needed a 2nd #2 SP or a #3. And maybe a power hitter. Maybe an RP. What are our resources, both in terms of money and prospects. So that's the start. How you get there becomes a little more random. There is no sense, imo, pontificating over Contreras or Alonso, even if I prefer Contreras. But acquiring Contreras changes the decision-tree for every downstream decision. Acquiring Contreras makes adding Bregman for more unlikely, thus making Durbin much more likely. That's just the way decision trees evolve.

    Only because I was randomly checking something else, but as recently as 6/24, we were 15th in the AL and 29th in MLB. It might be too soon to judge someone's future career. And he does have a .750 OPS over the past two games.

    Fair points, but like Pr. Tyson said, everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face. Tito always rested guys (and got excoriated for it). But like you said, you don't want that 5.5 games out of the playoffs towards the end of June to become 8-9 games back at the TDL. TBH, I don't think there is any right or wrong strategies.

    RSN don't need no stinking results to make decisions. FWIW, I like Eyanson, but I don't get the love for Witherspoon. Good pick at #15, imo, but very shaky results so far. My guess is that, had we not made the trade, the same folks would be complaining about his 4.4 BB9.

    Yup, I remember when the Freds would advocate 'pedal to the metal, in April.

    IMO, they did exactly that. Half the off-season criticisms were about us missing out on 4-5 different Plan A's. Flexible and nimble is the opposite of having a distinct Plan A.

    Sure, but since no feared hitters were traded, and since we probably got the best hitter available, the point is moot.

    1-The idea that the budget doesn't matter is a non-starter. It does. 2-Does anyone not think that this team is far better with our current defense than it was last year?

    You should be looking for the biggest marginal gain, not just the best hitter.

    IMHO, there is a world of difference between having a 3rd string catcher that doesn't catch or hit, and having a DH/1B that owns a catching glove.

    If one were to believe in conspiracies, maybe the RS planned on an IL stint, which is why they demoted Gaspar.

    Sure, it was a nice segue from 'the Angels'.

    This is the primary reason I agreed with you on keeping Duran. He's more than just a backup, he's a starter. I know some disagree, but Duran has been pretty valuable as Anthony's replacement in LF, even with his down year. That's a heck of a lot more valuable than having JJ or even Yoshida. Guys like KC (as of today) are more for the 2-week IL visits.
