  1. It is fair for anyone to remain skeptical. I remain skeptical and I am his biggest (only?) supporter. He seems to have learned a lesson and is taking his condition very seriously. We'll see.
  2. I was going to mention Rusney. Apparently, he's been putting up some pretty good numbers recently.
  3. Yup, I really like how he owned it. Terrible break for him. Hopefully, it's not as bad as we fear, but I'm afraid we've seen the last of him this season.
  4. I don't disagree with that. That said, many people have called him soft, and much worse, because of the length of time that he spends on the DL. Those names have also been attributed to the likes of Ellsbury and Drew. Pablo is another one who has been called various names because of his 'weakness'. A slightly different situation but the point remains. Personally, I don't agree with calling ERod soft. That said, my point is that singling out a poster for calling ERod soft was not necessary.
  5. Farrell on @WEEI said E-Rod learned a lesson from scratch Sat/Sun: 'In hindsight, he waited to long (letting Red Sox know)' It seems that you were right Cycles.
  6. 1. It doesn't matter how bad a team is, sweeping any team is difficult to do, much less sweeping a 4 game series. The Jays lost to the hapless Angels yesterday also. 3. If there is a way for our offense to squander a scoring opportunity, they will find it. I was sure we would get at least one run that inning, but no. Whether Butter should have sent the runners is debatable, but either way, Beni made a rookie mistake. I fear that we have seen the last of him this season. 4. I have no problem with the decision to bring Porcello out for the 8th, then to let him finish the 8th once the score was tied. 5. It's also a classic demonstration of why managers sometimes don't bring in the "obvious" pinch hitter. The opposing manager will just counter the move with a different reliever. 7. I don't think Ortiz should bat 3rd, and I can promise you that I am neither blind nor ignorant, at least when it comes to baseball. Your best hitter should not be batting 3rd. Ortiz' best slot in the line up is 4th because of his power. Not that it matters much.
  7. We've had 4 walk off losses. Three of them have come by way of an error.
  8. Porcello was cruising, and he had handled Longoria very well in his previous at bats this game. I was actually excited to see him come back out for the 8th. Farrell did state that if Porcello had gotten Longoria out, he was going to bring Ross in to face Miller. Once Longoria tied the game, he had to shift gears and manage for the possibility of extra innings. People can agree or disagree with that thinking, but it's very rational.
  9. Long live Hanigan!
  10. Buchholz may have a history of injuries, but does that mean that he should come back and pitch before he is fully ready? How does it make Buchholz soft if he wants to be 100% before returning, but it's perfectly okay for ERod to be 100% before returning? FTR, I give ERod the benefit of the doubt. I don't think he should return if he doesn't feel ready to return. But IMO, the same should be true for Buchholz.
  11. First off, that's not the same thing because a certain poster never once called out Hanley for not playing in a game or questioned his desire to play. In fact, said poster was Hanley's biggest defender when everyone questioned his character last year. But whatever the case, a certain poster is not calling out any other posters for calling someone soft. A certain poster was calling out other posters for calling out posters for calling someone soft, when they, themselves have done it.
  12. Kudos to management for not DFAing Buchholz. The roster has been managed well lately, but earlier in the year, it was one big fustercluck for a while.
  13. Teams that have the ability to mash the ball actually lose less of their scoring ability in the postseason than teams that rely on small ball.
  14. It's funny how much smarter a manager looks when the team wins.
  15. I really liked, and still like, the Hill acquisition.
  16. Thank you. People are on Clay all the time about how he won't pitch if he has a hangnail. All players are beat up and playing with some type of injury at this point of the season. It's a fine line, IMO. On the one hand, you want them to tough it out and help their team in the middle of a pennant race. OTOH, you don't want them causing further injury.
  17. I understand people's frustration with Pablo, but IMO, it wouldn't make any sense to just write him off because we have other options. I understand people's preference for Shaw or Moncada at 3B. Perhaps Shaw serves us better in some kind of trade. Perhaps he is moved to 1B and Hanley DHs. Perhaps Moncada won't be ready to be an everyday 3B to start next season. As you said, a lot can happen between now and next year. Regardless of anyone's personal feelings about Pablo, the Sox will be better off if he can rebound to a 2.5 - 3 WAR player.
  18. Bring back the good old days when the Devil Rays were doormats.
  19. It was a wild pitch that got about 10 feet away from Leon. That was the difference between the Rays scoring and not scoring.
  20. I previously said that I would be okay with a 2-2 split with the Rays. I've changed my mind. Find a way to get it done and WIN!!!
  21. If I recall correctly, the Rays were only able to score their run because of a ball that got away from Leon, allowing the runner on first to advance to second. This subsequently kept the Rays out of a DP on a hard hit grounder to 3rd by the next batter, then allowed the runner to score on a hit by the next batter. He would not have scored if he had remained on first.
  22. LOL Kimbrel does look like a Garden Gnome. I have always thought that Hembree looks a lot like Lackey.
  23. Farrell and the coaching staff deserve some criticism for not arguing this call a little more. It ended up not mattering, but that's beside the point. That was clearly not interference and Farrell (and the umps) should know this.
