  1. Everyone who is a regular poster is knowledgeable, otherwise they wouldn't be posting regularly. Everyone here is right sometimes and wrong other times. A lot of what we post is pure speculation, opinion, and guess work. None of us, regardless of how smart we think we are, knows more than management. My point is that I don't see the need for: 1. "I told you so" or chest thumping in its many variations. 2. Insulting another poster whose opinion differs from yours. 3. Calling out another poster when that other poster is wrong. This post is not directed at you Moon, or anyone in particular. We are all guilty of these things to some extent or another - it's human nature. But really, nothing is served by it. A final thought, again directed at no one in particular: Being able to admit that you were wrong is a strength, not a weakness.
  2. You had a very good run Station. Can't win 'em all, but it is so frustrating to watch our BP blow so many games for us. On a bright note, Clay pitched well. We'll get 'em tomorrow.
  3. "Dombrowski said Lions game wasn't a factor in refusal to reschedule, since Lions schedule wasn't out when they asked about changing times."
  4. Good point.
  5. Dombrowski would have never had the foresight to sign Leon if he weren't on the team the previous year. Now, if Holaday turns into something, Dombrowski gets credit for his boy.
  6. The nice thing about this being a 1:00 game is that I get a choice of home and away feeds. Woohoo!
  7. Am I the only one who had to Google 'Fire Marshall Bill' the first time this comparison was made? LOL
  8. ??? Stay with the theme here, Bell.
  9. The Yankees would have been better off re-signing Martin. If I recall correctly, they were unwilling to pay him the going rate, yet they turn around the following year and give a monster contract to McCann.
  10. I agree that it's a low move. As I said, if they won't do it to themselves, the optics are not good that they would put another team through it.
  11. I think you're right. They have been able to stabilize the 4th and 5th spots in the rotation.
  12. While Gold Gloves are still not up to par, I would like to point out that they have gotten much better since the addition of the sabermetric component. Go statheads! I would also like to point out that the Cy Young voters have gotten better with their knowledge of advanced stats over the traditional 'Wins'. Go statheads!
  13. I wonder how much of the improvement in our rotation can be credited to Bannister being in uniform in the dugout. Maybe it's nothing. Then again, maybe it's not.
  14. There is no way he can sustain the level that he is at, and we don't need BABIP to tell us that. That said, it does seem very reasonable that he can remain an average to above average catcher offensively, which would go a long way when coupled with his defense.
  15. It will hopefully still be a good offense, it just looks really strange.
  16. It's the stat folks who have said that line up changes make so little difference that a team is likely better off putting batters in a slot where they feel comfortable, within reason. The only line up 'rules' that I would adhere to is to get your high OBP guys higher up in the order in a slot where they feel comfortable, and only change the line up if a player is really scuffling or if the team as a whole is scuffling.
  17. I'm guessing that they will somehow unload him, either by eating a good bit of the contract or by trading bad contracts. My understanding from reading between the lines is that McCann is not at all happy about his lack of playing time, not that I can blame him.
  18. Need to keep the streak going. No-Sleep Buchholz needs to get it done today. Just WIN!
  19. That line up is whacked out.
  20. That may be the case, but I read that in the rare instances when the Tigers are on the road for a Wednesday game, then return home on Thursday to start a new series, the game is always scheduled for 7:00. The Tigers would not do this to themselves, so IMO, it's a low move to do it to another team. The Sox asked the Tigers back in April to change the game time, and the Tigers refused. I hope the Sox can use this frustration as a spark on the field today.
  21. This could very well be the case. This might be the best thing for Clay. LOL
  22. LOL You are on a roll this morning Cycles.
  23. Price did get it done. Great job by him! The starting rotation, on the whole, has been getting it done recently. The pen was spared last night, which is huge going into today's game.
