  1. Need to start this road trip off on the right foot. Go Sox!
  2. I am not a fan of all of the extreme shifting, but until the batters learn how to adequately adjust to it, it works. Of course there are times when a team is going to get burned by shifting, but the percentage play is to use the shift, even against the weaker hitters. Otherwise, they wouldn't do it.
  3. Anyone who can bash the Yankees like you do is all right in my book. I'm with HFX. Lose Yankees lose.
  4. Swihart's defense has always been questioned, especially in comparison to Vazquez', but there was no reason to complain last year. Swihart did a decent job considering he was thrown into action well before he was ready.
  5. My summer vacation is over. Back to reality. Can't post during the workday.
  6. I very much like this post.
  7. Buchholz does pique the interest of other teams. If he pitches well down the stretch, there are other teams who would be willing to trade for him, and his contract would be very reasonable. That said, he might serve us better as a depth option.
  8. Agreed. I am not trying to knock either catcher. I am a huge fan of defense oriented catchers, so my preference has been Vaz over Swihart. That said, Swihart did an admirable job last season when he was thrown into the fire, and I think he deserved a longer look this year. I also think Vaz would have benefited from more time in AAA.
  9. None of knows for sure whether management called up Vazquez before they intended to do so. I strongly believe that they did. I believe that if Swihart had not had a couple of poor defensive games, the Sox would have been more patient in calling up Vaz. JMO, but the phrase "sense of urgency" was thrown around quite a bit by management early in the season.
  10. Koji's injury could be a blessing in disguise if he is able to come back well rested and effective.
  11. Toronto is playing Baltimore. One way or the other, that's good for us. Of course, we need to take care of our own business.
  12. Woohoo! Another year of Clay debates!
  13. Oye There is no way we are losing this game.
  14. Voice of reason.
  15. I read somewhere that Farrell doesn't like to bring Buchholz into the game with runners on base? Because Buch is used to starting, Farrell likes him to start an inning clean.
  16. I root for an underdog not named the Yankees. Anyway, it's hard for me to ever consider them as underdogs. I'm not "afraid" of the Yankees, but in a short series, much less a one game play in game, anything can happen. I just know that losing to the Yankees would be much more painful to me than losing to any other team. I don't want them anywhere near the playoffs.
  17. I really hope we can win the division. It will likely come down to the series that we have left with the Jays.
  18. It was very enlightening. I didn't realize how bad it was for the low minor leaguers. I found it interesting that a couple of the players didn't want to join in with the class action suit, saying that they knew what they were getting into and that they were grateful for the opportunity. MLB should take some of the money from the top, and distribute it to the lower levels.
  19. FantasyLabs MLB ‏@FantasyLabsMLB 9m9 minutes ago Dustin Pedroia (personal) not in lineup Sunday.
  20. UGH As much as I despise the Os, I despise the Yankees more. I really do not look forward to facing either of those teams in a one game play in, if it comes to that.
  21. I hate Beni's injury, just because I hate injuries, but I never felt like our season was in jeopardy when he got injured. I thought our team was fine before he got called up, and I think it will be fine if he is unable to return this year. As far as our undynamic duo at 3B goes, if only we had Pablo...
  22. Agreed. I hear a lot of people say that they don't care about burning an option year or that they don't care about losing a year of control that won't affect the team for 6 more years, but these things often have a way of coming back to haunt the team. If the situation is such that the need is dire, then by all means, call up the player. Otherwise, don't rush it or risk it. All that said, I was against calling up Benintendi before September, but it seems that management made the correct call there, Beni's current injury notwithstanding.
  23. Obviously, I disagree that they did not act hastily in bringing up Vazquez. I agree that Swihart's defensive skills are not where management wants them to be. I also agree that the plan was to call up Vazquez when he was ready. However, I think that Vaz could have used more time in AAA after sitting out an entire season, and the only reason they called him up after only 6 games was because they felt a sense of urgency.
  24. IMO, your first sentence nailed it. Who knows what to expect from ERod tonight? He might be great or he might pitch tentatively because he's worried about his hammy. Farrell might need Buchholz to pitch a couple of innings tonight.
  25. WIN! Enough said.
