  1. If we signed him, it would have to be with the understanding that he would not be the closer or even the set up guy. If he's not willing to accept that role, then it's a no go.
  2. I'm with you on this too King. I think he's worth a look, considering the state that our pen is in. Who knows, being back in Boston might somehow 'revive' him.
  3. Yup. I was a little critical of Farrell not playing Beni regularly when he was first called up, but it seems that Farrell knew what he was doing.
  4. I agree with you King. One of the beat writer's made the point that Dombrowski almost always travels with the team, and he sees first hand the job that Farrell is doing day in and day out, both on and off the field. If Dombrowski thinks that Farrell needs to be fired, he will be fired. Until then, I'm not going to worry about Farrell.
  5. Jackie has had a terrible month of August. He needs to snap out of his funk.
  6. I can't complain about a split with Detroit on the road, not to mention that we are 5-2 so far on this very difficult road trip. Seriously, if someone told us we'd go 5-2 in the first 7 games, I think every one of us would be all in on that. It helps that the rest of the division lost yesterday too. I would really like to take 3 of 4 from the Rays, but I would be okay with a split. The Rays have played us tough and are playing well lately.
  7. I love Taz, but it appears that he is done. I feel a 'tired arm' DL stint coming, then he could be back with the team in September. Not that I'd use him in any close situations, but he could at least provide some non-key innings.
  8. No need to apologize to me, though you should apologize to the team and the fans in general. This loss, and any subsequent poor play, is clearly on your shoulders. Never mess with mojo!
  9. It's a way to open up his roster spot. My understanding is that they just want to skip one start, so he'll be called back up after the 10 days. In the meantime, it makes sense to take advantage of the roster spot.
  10. Not nice.
  11. The We'll Settle For A 2-2 Split With The Tigers Reverse Mojo will be in effect for today's game. Owens has made 3 starts for the Sox this year, going 3.1, 6.0, and 3.0 innings. With a tired and mostly ineffective pen, a 3 inning game from our starter is the last thing we need. That said, Owens has pitched very well of late. Forget splitting with these guys. Win, Win, WIN!!! Red Sox @ Tigers Sunday @ 1pm @ Comerica Owens 0-0/ 5.11 Will make his 4th start after the season after E-rod was scratched with a tight hammy. Owens went 2-1/ 0.99 over his past 3 starts in AAA. Verlander 12-7/ 3.44 Suffered his first loss since June 26th on Tuesday due to 3 Royals sole homeruns. He has givn up 2 earned runs in 20 innings since last season vs the Red Sox.
  12. I just hope ERod's tight hammy, which doesn't appear serious, doesn't turn into another "72 hour knee injury".
  13. That was a very satisfying win. We caught a tough break losing Pomeranz due to the rain, then having to depend on our pen for 4 innings. Plus, it was a very long night which would have felt much longer if we had blown that. Thank goodness we didn't. Woohoo!
  14. The Stinky Bullpen Reverse Mojo will be in effect tonight. Weather may be a factor in this game. Whatever it takes, just WIN! Red Sox @ Tigers Saturday....7pm.....Comerica Pomeranz 9-9/ 2.99 Finally got a win with the Red Sox last time out, holding the Tribe to 5 hits and 2 runs over 7 2/3 innings. Pomeranz has pitched well in his last 3 starts giving up 5 runs in 19 innings. Norris 1-1/ 3.47 Norris faces the Red Sox and former Tigers GM, who acquired Norris in part of the David Price trade. Gave up 6 hits and 4 walks in 5 1/3 innings against the Royals on Monday.
  15. I hope to never be pulled over again, but thanks for the advice. I was very respectful and polite towards the officer, and I have great respect for police officers, I might add. I think being respectful and my spotless driving record are the reasons why he didn't give me a ticket. LOL about the 'difficult Russian Bitch'.
  16. Voice of reason. I tend to get caught up in the hype sometimes too, but anointing him a sure bet is a bit premature. He looks good, but he hasn't been without his inexperienced moments. I'm not betting against him. Just reign the enthusiasm in a little bit.
  17. LOL Tell that to MVP. He's the one who's insisting that it's a no brainer this year to pick up the option.
  18. Pete Abraham ‏@PeteAbe 12h12 hours ago #RedSox win, 10-2. They have won seven of eight and are a half-game out of first. Stupid Farrell.
  19. Betts has gone crazy! Love the guy! I am so happy for JBJ. I think I've been pulling harder for him than for any other player on our team.
  20. If he continues pitching well, that's a very real possibility. $13 mil for one year is peanuts for a good starter.
  21. That sounds about right. My guess would be that the 'traditional' voters look at bWAR if they look at any WAR at all. I have no basis for that opinion other than my impression. I think that for pitchers, they're looking at things like Ks, IP, and WHIP. The main thing is that they're not focusing on Wins.
  22. That was an awesome walk off win for Cleveland. How exciting for the Tribe fans. We picked up a game on both the Jays and Os. Great night of baseball.
  23. I was concerned that this would be an offensively frustrating game against Fulmer. It was really nice to see our offense get to him, especially in the first inning. It's also amazing how well our BP can pitch when they have a nice cushion. Great win all around!
  24. I would have never thought that. Good to know. I'll stash that into my criminal repertoire. Speaking of criminal repertoires, and my apologies to Jacko for being off topic, I was pulled over by a cop for the first time in my life about a week ago. Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck. He said he clocked me going 72 in a 55. I know for a fact that I wasn't, as I had my cruise control set on 60 (59 actually). I am the poster child for model drivers. Anyone who knows me knows the idea of me doing 72 in a 55 is ludicrous. He didn't give me a ticket, because I think he realized that he was mistaken. But it concerns me that if he really wanted to, he could have given me one and there is really nothing I could have done about it.
  25. Can't stand Scioscia. He's right up there with Showalter and Maddon. And how is Jered Weaver even still pitching?
