  1. Price struggled early in the game. It's not good when your team scores 2 to give you the lead against a tough pitcher, then you give the 2 runs right back. That said, Price settled in nicely and went on to pitch a very good game. One of the qualities on an ace is to be able to adjust and overcome early struggles, then shut the opponent down for the remainder of the outing, rather than imploding. Price did just that. Very nice job, and great job by the offense to take it to Duffy.
  2. No, I never thought they should have dumped Hanigan. What they should have done was not rushed Vazquez up in the first place.
  3. World Series win!!!
  4. I can't predict what will happen in the postseason (and therefore can't vote) because 1. Anything can and does happen. 2. We don't know who our opponent will be in each round of the playoffs. What I do predict is that the Jays will edge us out for the division, but we will make the playoffs as a WC team.
  5. I believe I read that the Sox burned Vazquez' last option this year by sending him down and leaving him there more than 20 days. That will factor into decisions made next year regarding our catchers.
  6. Geez, and here I let you all waste my time almost every day.
  7. That might be the case, though that goes against my logic. Regardless, pitchers over 30 are in their decline phase. They are more of a risk to sign than younger pitchers.
  8. In keeping with the "KISS" theme, WIN!
  9. I think it's reasonably possible if Pablo comes into camp in shape. Last year was really a fluky year.
  10. Of course, which is why I'm against such contracts to begin with. But the risk of injury and decline is usually less with a young pitcher than an older one.
  11. Pablo will not and was never going to be worth his contract. Shaw's numbers have been mediocre. Maybe Pablo would be better? Maybe not, but personally, I've always liked the idea of Shaw as more of a super sub type than as a starting player. Regardless, if Pablo can be close to average, he provides depth and flexibility to the team, or he could bring us something in return in a trade. Otherwise, he's a sunk cost.
  12. When Clay was going really bad this year, I thought there was very little chance the Sox would pick up his option. With the way that he has been pitching lately, I think there is a very real chance that the option is picked up. $13 mil for one year is a very appealing contract for most teams. Clay would not only provide depth but also some flexibility. If he continues to pitch well, it makes sense to pick up the option.
  13. Is it encouraging that Beni is walking around and putting pressure on his knee, albeit very gingerly? If it were something that required surgery, wouldn't they keep him off of it? I still don't think he'll be able to return this year, but I'm hoping he won't require surgery that keeps him out through part of next year.
  14. You tell 'em, Dojji!
  15. It's what we do.
  16. It's possible. But if they are going to spend $300 million on our next FA pitcher, I would hope that he is at least on the right side of 30.
  17. Solid post. I can't see Moncada being called up before September. If they were going to do that, then why even call up Hernandez to begin with? The road trip was actually quite successful. I think everyone here would have been happy with a 7-4 trip before the fact. It was very disappointing to not take ( ) at least 1 of the last 2 games from the Rays, so it feels much worse than it really was.
  18. This loss was on the offense. They are so frustrating sometimes. As Merloni put it so eloquently put it, "This is a good team that pisses me off regularly".
  19. I hope he opts out. IMO, that would be the best case scenario for us. As you said, that money could be better spent elsewhere. I agree, we are in a very good place right now.
  20. I agree with Slasher. We need a rocking chair win. Today's the day.
  21. YOTN mojo! After winning the first two games of the series, a split with the lowly Rays would be very disappointing. Let's end this road trip on a high note! WIN!
  22. Agreed. My only concern would be that, if Price is pitching really well, the Sox would try to re-sign him to a larger contract, similar to what the Yankees did with CC.
  23. When Price first signed this contract, I thought that there was no way he would opt out of his contract because no team would be willing to pay him, at that age, more than what he was already getting. Then I saw what Greinke got when he opted out. If Price pitches well, he will likely opt out. That's my hope, at least.
  24. LOL My hair is down.
