    All reports show that Story will return sometime this weekend. It will allow the Sox to see where he is at heading into the off season. The Sox focus should be on pitching this off season, but there remains questions about the middle infield positions heading into 2024. Can the Sox count on either Story or Mayer to be able to stay on the field? Or do they have to go in another direction. What about second base? Can Grissom do the job? Is rising prospect Campbell the answer? Or is the speedy Hamilton part of a platoon? I said at the beginning of the season that on paper this was a .500 team. Sure enough that is where the Sox are. This was a fun team to watch, with a lot of positives coming out of the 2024 season, but there is work to be done if the Sox want to see October baseball in 2025.

    I think both Anthony and Campbell have jumped over Mayer for the top prospects. 1. Anthony (looks like the real deal) 2. Campbell ( on fire the whole summer of 2023) 3. Mayer (two years in a row season ended early) 4. Teel (struggled at the plate in AAA)

    Yes, Campbell makes it a big four. He has been on fire the whole summer and now is doing it in AAA. Much like Rafaela has been playing multiple positions (2B-SS-OF). Not as good a fielder as Ceddane, but maybe a better hitter. With his emergence I can see them moving Mayer. Anthony looks like the real deal, and Teel is a catcher who they seem high on.

    Yes, in total agreement! These two things should never happen. Just like the signing of Sandoval should never have happened.

    Spankie trolls that come into the forum are only jealous of the success the Sox have enjoyed this century. I teach high school in Jersey (Behindenemylines) and I have students that were not alive the last time the Yanks won the World Series. Since they weren't even born before the last championship they have no argument of which franchise has enjoyed more success, since I don't allow then to include any championships before they were born in their argument.

    There is a pulse finally. Grissom has begun to hit a little bit for the Woo Sox, but it has been a lost season for him. It is only highlighted with the season that Sale is having.

    I can see the logic with the Sale trade, but things couldn't have turned out worse for the Sox. Sale is having a Cy Young season pitching more innings this season then the last few combined that he pitched for the Sox. Meanwhile, Grissom has been hurt, or when he has been playing it has been a dumpster fire. That last few weeks there has been a glimmer of hope as he has begin to hit for the Woo Sox. It is telling that he was buy passed when Hamilton got hurt and the Sox basically were saying that he will remain in AAA for the rest of 2024. Going into next season he will be in the mix for 2B, but not giving the his to lose 2B going into 2024. For the future you hope that Grissom gives them some value from the trade. As far as Sale, that is just bad luck for the Sox, How things might look this season if he was pitching for the Sox like he is pitching for the Braves. I can't get mad because he was part of the 2018 championship!

    Can't see trading Houck unless it's part of a package to get a true number one. If the Sox are serious about contending in 2025 then a top of the rotation starteris a must. A true number one. It could come in the form of a trade or finally getting seriously involved in the FA market. Giolito is coming back after missing all of 2024 so you don't know what you are going to get. Agree with Bello being a middle of the rotation guy. He sure looked good this week against Toronto. Remember the Sox have him locked into a good contract if he pitches more like he did this week. Crawford would be a good bottom of the rotation piece, and I agree that Whitlock should never pitch more then two innings and Criswell a swing guy. The guys with the Woo Sox are number 7 and 8 starters . If we see a lot of them, the 2025 will be another long season.

    Realistically as the team stands it is going to be a long season. Last place here we come!

    Tired of hearing Sox are in on free agent X, and then free agent X signs elsewhere! The team as is, is a last place team.

    Mayer is probably three seasons away, but Rafaela looks like the real deal. Saw him play SS this summer and he made some great plays, and they say he is even a better CF. That is where I see him for the Sox in the next couple years. Solid with the stick as well. Cases I think will be OK with the bat, and his D is great. York and Bleis are too far away yet. I hope Bello and Mata are the real deals.

    This is year four for Bloom. His life would be much easier if the Sox could have pitchers come out of the system. That being said he has found some arms: Whitlock, Schreiber, and Wacko doing it the Ray's way. I'm hoping Bello is the real deal and that Mata is right behind him. Nice off season is the make or break for Bloom. He is on the clock.

    The 2022-2023 off season is on pause until the decision is made on Bogey. I would go the route of less years more dollars per. You figure Mayer is three years away. Let's say four years at a higher average per year. If they give him more years then you have to get him to agree to a position change in the back end of the contract. The most i would go is six years. If an extension is not made in the first couple of weeks after the end of the Series then he is not coming back and then plan B starts. Until then it's hard to predict.

    The injuries to the pitching derailed this season. I give both Bloom and Cora another season to right the ship. With $$$$ off the books Bloom has no excuses in the creation of the 2023 roster. Both are now on the clock!

    Red Sox have shown a pattern the last decade or so of either finishing in last or making the playoffs. Once in the playoffs they have made runs with 2 titles in the bank. How many World Series have the Yanks made in the last decade? To place that into perspective: Red Sox titles in the bank, and the Yankees losing in the ALCS.

    A decision on JBJ will have to be made when Kiki comes back. It looks like Duran is here to stay, and Refsynder has been good. I have always said that you could live with him hitting .230 because of his D, but .200?

    Agree! The shot mandate does not make any sense at all. Those with the shot can be spreaders. It is frustrating as a fan to see brain dead government policies effect the outcome of games. I do not place any of the blame on the players who have chosen to not take the experimental shot. Live in Jersey and witness the NBA version of this with the New York City mandate that allows road players who did not take the shot play, but not home players.

    Bullpen has been pleasantly surprising. The problem is short starts lead to over using pen and burnout.

    Sold high on Renfroe. He was not going to repeat what he did last year. JBJ is better defender and is holding RF until they can upgrade. Whether that is Duran or someone who is not even on the roster now. The two prospects are interesting!

    As long as he stays healthy it is great deal! His role on the Sox is evolving.

    As of right now it would be Richards, but wouldn’t be surprised if a six man rotation was used. All of the Sox starters have had issues with staying healthy.

    I am little concern with the Toronto series as they get the bottom of the rotation, but yes they need to go to town on the depleted Yanks. I believe without rain last night the Sox would have found a way to win.
