  1. I agree. Remember Mookie extension thread started by a Spankees fan!
  2. Enjoy 2019 because things might start to get crazy next offseason. Maybe if Machado and Harper don’t break the bank then the bar may get lower in regards to max per year.
  3. Pitchers and catchers on Wednesday. Report has all starting staff in camp already. On a mission to repeat.
  4. I think both Feltman and Hernandez will play a role in 2019 bullpen as well. I think the Sox will re-evaluate in June about the closer role. Remember the Sox won last year despite the closer in the playoffs.
  5. Not a fan. Thank the Angels for taking him off the market.
  6. Robbey was a great player! RIP
  7. Truck day! Pitchers and catchers on Wednesday the 13th. Spring is in the air.
  8. Can anyone name a 10 year contract that the team received its value.? Machado’s attitude cost him the big $$$$$$$. He has no one to blame, but himself. You pay someone that money you want him to be a leader. A team leader who doesn’t hustle. Harper has had his attitude issues as well. You pay someone that much he is the face and leader of your franchise.
  9. The Sox have wons four championships in 15 years with four different closers. The Sox closer come mid season may not even be on the roster now. The next time you think that DD needs to resign Kimbrel yesterday remember some of last years post season stress he put us through. The Sox won despite him.
  10. When a player turns down a $300 million ten year contract there is something wrong with the system. With that said maybe players need to start making money earlier when they actually earn it. Then these bank breaking contracts that never pay off can go away. Players won’t have to break the bank if they make money earlier. The extra money the owners are holding on to should go back to the fans in the way of lower ticket prices. Make it more affordable for families.
  11. Sox win the series so he doesn't become Buckner, but if the Dodgers came back and won the series that would have changed. Kinsler looked lost at the plate and it was his D that the Sox gave up Buttrey (power arm out of the pen). So the play looks that much worse.
  12. The trades to get Sale and Kimbrel have worked out. Some of the young guys that were given up might still be stars, but 2018 championship is a done deal. The Carson Smith trade and Tyler Thornburg trade have not worked out. I think Thornburg will be given one more shot, but Smith era is over. The Kinsler trade also might be questionable, but the Pearse and Eovaldi trades were gold. JD signing at reasonable $$$$ has worked, and Price came up big in the ALCS and the WS. Without his effort I don't know ifv the Sox have enough pitching to get it done. Overall, DD's moves have more positives them negatives.
  13. 2018 was a special season! You know the Spankees and the Astros will be spending to improve themselves, so moving forward it will not be easy with the Sox who are up against the luxury tax. I do not see the Sox spending $$$ for someone that was not part of the run unless they lose both Kimbrel and Kelly. Then a top bullpen arm will be needed. Bringing back Eovaldi would give the Sox the top staff in baseball assuming all is healthy. That would allow them to do what they did this post season using starters out of the pen. If Pedroia is healthy then there is not room to carry three catchers. I could live with any of the two. Bringing back Pearce to platoon with Mitchy Two Bags worked, and gives them a power bat off the bench and a DH when JD is in the outfield. Ant big dollars spent this off season will be extending Betts. It will be interesting to see what they do with Sale whose contract ends next year at this time.
  14. The 2004 Team (The Idiots) will probably always be the team that most put at the top because they broke the curse, and the 2013 team (Bearded Brothers) will probably always be at the bottom because no one saw that one coming. The bottom line is that the Sox have enough recent championships that the question can be discussed.
  15. My favorite holiday of the year is Yankee Elimination Day - it came a little bit early this year. Which always makes it nicer!
  16. Just look at Big Papi’s numbers in big games. He is the one constant force in all three championships. It takes a team, but you need to have difference makers.
  17. If team was having trouble scoring runs then the debate on moving JBJ would probably be more even. I don’t think JBJ is a top five issue right now. If Sox come up short then they revisit this in the offseason.
  18. Good to see Thornburg pitch in a game for the Sox. Sox have a few weeks to determine if he is the piece needed in the pen. If he is the guy it will save the Sox having to move other pieces to improve the pen. It would be nice if he worked out since the piece move to get him has done pretty good in Milwaukee.
  19. This is why Sox fans hate the Spankees. Until a prospect shows he can do it in the majors they are just prospects.
  20. KC is what being a small market team is all about. Make their run, cost of players becomes too great, break it down, and then rebuild.
  21. Tigers didn’t have Big Papi though. Without Papi the Sox don’t win the World Series and maybe the Tigers do. Big Papi doesn’t homer the Sox go down two games to none.
  22. That is why JBJ is still the starting center fielder for the Sox. The value of his glove still weighs enough that the offensive deficiencies can be accepted a little easier. Just think how effective the Sox offense would be if JBJ gets into one of his hot stretches.
  23. The key is to not over play either one of these guys. Sharing the position allows both to stay fresher and more productive with the bat. Both are above average defensively so you are not losing anything.
  24. People forget that Dever is just a kid. I’m not concern because he looks like he is coachable because of the adjustments he has made. The kid will have his struggles, but he is also a threat to go deep every time he steps into the box. Boggs was also shaken with the glove and made himself a better defender. As long as a here the kid is putting the time in I’m okay with the struggles.
  25. A strong Thornburg will go a long way in making me feel better about the bullpen. As important as starting pitching is, the Sox bullpen will determine how far the Sox go. In the playoffs closing games out is the difference between winning championships or just participating in. The last two years the Sox just participated in.
