  1. In 2025 they didn't need the true number 2 starter until the playoffs. All I was saying if the right deal doesn't happen the remainder of this off season ( don't want them robbed of too many prospects) , then they still have until 2026 deadline to trade for a number 2.
  2. That other pitcher that the Sox add could be later this off season, or up until the trade deadline during 2026. Gives them a chance to figure out if any of the kids are ready to help. So maybe Grey is number 2 until next July and then pushed to 3 at trade deadline.
  3. Any lineup without Rafaela in center is a waste of the best centerfielder in baseball, Can see Campbell taking Refsynders roster spot, With ABs in RF for Abreau against lefties, 2B for Mayer against lefties, and possible ABs at 1B.
  4. I agree. Still early in the off season. The number 2 may not be on the roster until the 2026 trade deadline. Pushes Gray to number 3 for a playoff run.
  5. Dodgers had a ton of money that wasn't even on the World Series roster. If the Sox are going to compete with them they need to spend money!
  6. Masa and Hicks are weighing on the Sox ability to get two power bats.
  7. Sox probably feel they can do for Williams what they did for Chapman and make a super bullpen to shorten the game. I think there are much greater needs.
  8. The AL East is always a beast. Playing good teams make you a better team. Sox did well against their division last year.
  9. Gray signed for just one year may be the plan. The more you look into his numbers the better he looks, The Sox have a hand full of young arms that are knocking on the door (Tolle, Witherspoon, Early Perales, and Dobbins) and may need Gray for just one season. Any free agent signing would have tied the Sox to an aging arm that would block some of the young arms, They can revisit other trade possibilities for starting pitchers after they take care of their position player needs with less stress on them, which could have forced them to over pay with prospect capital,
  10. Finding a true number 2 is the most important move the Sox need to do this off season. They need to get it right!
  11. The Sox always have the option of moving Story to second and playing Mayer at short. Remember his first season with Sox he played a solid second base. Unlike some players I think Story would make the move if it helps the team. I think a switch of the two could be the upgrade of infield defense they are looking for Shortstop are usually the most athletic players on the field so that's why teams always draft them. Moving them to the outfield is easy then. Rafaela is another example of that.
  12. Toronto had a team that did not strike out a lot and put the ball in play. Red Sox need to be better at that. Strike outs are rally killers.
  13. Now they need to duplicate that in the infield. Last few seasons the Sox have been error factories. Remember pitching and defense wins championships.
  14. There is no garentee that he will be ready to go at the beginning of next season. To trade him at this point he has little value. I can see where he starts his season with Woo Sox and makes it to Boston when ready. Next season is his last chance to show Sox he is the 1B of the future. If healthy that is added power without spending or giving up a lot in a trade.
  15. Like Duran a lot because of what he brings to the table, but has the skills that will help the Sox trade for a number 2 starter. Signing for next year makes it easier to trade him.
  16. Off season needs: 1. Number 2 SP - Peralta or Ryan in a trade 2. Resign Bregman or replace his production 3. Add a power bat
  17. Bieber only pitch the last part of the season so he may feel that a full season with a team that just went to the WS he will be able to make more $$$$$ next off season. Sox were the one team talk to last season before resigning with Cleveland.
  18. I think a healthy Perales is the top pitching prospect in the Sox system. He could be a future rotation fixture, or the future closer. Can't teach 100 mph!
  19. For this off season to be successful for the Sox Bregman needs to be in Boston. Solid defense at third, hit for power, and a true clubhouse leader. I don't think the Sox could find someone to replace all three of those things.
  20. I would hold on to Casas as well. His power is a big need for the Sox and trading him would be going against the needs.
  21. As bad as Mookie was in the WS, it was his hit that won game 6. Dodgers don't win WS if they don't win game 6,
  22. If the Sox don't add a true number 2 starter and some power this off season they will take a step backwards next season. Plus resigning Bregman is very important. Bregman's numbers might be able to be replaced, but the leadership can't. A lot of the kids look to him for guidents. So these are the top three priorities: 1. True Number 2 starter ( Probably beat the Yanks in Wild Card if they had one this year) 2. Resign Bregman 3. Add power bat
  23. If adding power is the Sox objective then replacing Yoshida as DH has to be a goal this off season. Alonso has been mentioned and his power plays in Fenway.
  24. Bleis has been a disappointment so far in his minor league career, but his tools keep him in top prospect status. This is why the Sox will protect him unless he is part of a trade package for a number 2 starter
