  1. Mayer is probably three seasons away, but Rafaela looks like the real deal. Saw him play SS this summer and he made some great plays, and they say he is even a better CF. That is where I see him for the Sox in the next couple years. Solid with the stick as well. Cases I think will be OK with the bat, and his D is great. York and Bleis are too far away yet. I hope Bello and Mata are the real deals.
  2. 1. Bogey decision / Plan B 2. Pitching 3. Pitching 4. OF who could hit for power 5. Pitching 6. Finally, more pitching
  3. Give them a full season and then revisit the discussion next off season.
  4. This is year four for Bloom. His life would be much easier if the Sox could have pitchers come out of the system. That being said he has found some arms: Whitlock, Schreiber, and Wacko doing it the Ray's way. I'm hoping Bello is the real deal and that Mata is right behind him. Nice off season is the make or break for Bloom. He is on the clock.
  5. The 2022-2023 off season is on pause until the decision is made on Bogey. I would go the route of less years more dollars per. You figure Mayer is three years away. Let's say four years at a higher average per year. If they give him more years then you have to get him to agree to a position change in the back end of the contract. The most i would go is six years. If an extension is not made in the first couple of weeks after the end of the Series then he is not coming back and then plan B starts. Until then it's hard to predict.
  6. The injuries to the pitching derailed this season. I give both Bloom and Cora another season to right the ship. With $$$$ off the books Bloom has no excuses in the creation of the 2023 roster. Both are now on the clock!
  7. Red Sox have shown a pattern the last decade or so of either finishing in last or making the playoffs. Once in the playoffs they have made runs with 2 titles in the bank. How many World Series have the Yanks made in the last decade? To place that into perspective: Red Sox titles in the bank, and the Yankees losing in the ALCS.
  8. A decision on JBJ will have to be made when Kiki comes back. It looks like Duran is here to stay, and Refsynder has been good. I have always said that you could live with him hitting .230 because of his D, but .200?
  9. Agree! The shot mandate does not make any sense at all. Those with the shot can be spreaders. It is frustrating as a fan to see brain dead government policies effect the outcome of games. I do not place any of the blame on the players who have chosen to not take the experimental shot. Live in Jersey and witness the NBA version of this with the New York City mandate that allows road players who did not take the shot play, but not home players.
  10. Bullpen has been pleasantly surprising. The problem is short starts lead to over using pen and burnout.
  11. Sold high on Renfroe. He was not going to repeat what he did last year. JBJ is better defender and is holding RF until they can upgrade. Whether that is Duran or someone who is not even on the roster now. The two prospects are interesting!
  12. As long as he stays healthy it is great deal! His role on the Sox is evolving.
  13. As of right now it would be Richards, but wouldn’t be surprised if a six man rotation was used. All of the Sox starters have had issues with staying healthy.
  14. I am little concern with the Toronto series as they get the bottom of the rotation, but yes they need to go to town on the depleted Yanks. I believe without rain last night the Sox would have found a way to win.
  15. I hope Frenchy isn’t one of those AAAA guys! Being able to play first base is a huge benefit for him, but it doesn’t matter if he can’t hit big league pitching.
  16. I have been pleasantly surprised by what Renfroe has done.
  17. A healthy and productive Sale for the stretch run will be a site for sore eyes! Bloom’s decision to get another starter before the trade deadline will have to be made before the Sox know what kind of a Sale that they are going to have when he comes back.
  18. Last night’s lose (7-17) is on MLB and the umpires. Delay the game for an hour with it not raining. With the weather forecasting technology that exist that should never happen. The sixth inning should have never happened. By that time the conditions on the field were not safe at all. If game starts on time maybe it is already over before the rains got heavy. In the top of the sixth with bases loaded the umpires took the bat out of CV’s hands with the terrible strike calls. The time the Sox got on to the field in the bottom half of the inning the rain was even heavier and becoming harder for pitchers. Then the whole baseball throwing incident. I hope they got the right fan and he never sees the inside of a stadium again. Sanchez’s hr is an out in every other stadium. At that point you knew that outcome of the game. Remember this game if the Sox come up short in September. MLB should be embraced,
  19. The next two weeks will be telling. Tough schedule, trade deadline, and how much of an impact that Sale can be. Have been a little concern about the back half of the starting rotation, and a healthy and productive Sale would make me feel a lot better. I think by August 1 you will have a better idea on the Sox and their playoff push.
  20. Good deal for the Sox! Still a moveable contract down the road if the need arises. With Barnes it is the command that is the big difference. When he gets ahead of the hitter in the count he has been unhittable.
  21. Single and a walk against “Spider Tact”, Duran and his speed in there against all righties is a big yes. Has a Ellsbury feel to it.
  22. Sox need to at least in the discussion about Bauer. I can not take another season watching pitching like we did this year. Probably would have lost my sight from watching if it wasn’t for the shorten season.
  23. Much like the closing of the Yankee season! So a big shout out to Red Sox Nation who is celebrating YED, DaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaYankees lose!
  24. Yes, you are referencing the great holiday Of YED. Better known as Yankee Elimination Day! It is my favorite holiday as well. You have to listen to the Great Big Papi classic DaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaYankees lose song to enjoy YED to the fullest.
