  1. The problem for teams is going to be when to use it. It has to be used in situations where it saves a scoring rally or ends one. Like yesterday when it ended a Brewers rally with a third strike called.
  2. Other than Game 1 what the Red Sox were doing in March was not baseball. Come on, where is the pitching! 32 runs against in the last five games!
  3. They are already 4 games out! You can't win the division in March / April, but you can lose it. The Astros series was brutal to watch!
  4. Other than Abreu the rest of the Sox have been terrible. It has been magnified because it's the opening week of the season, but the pitching (both starting and bullpen), hitting (what is with all the strikeouts), and defense have not been where it needs to be. After Game 1 it has become worse. Game 2 the Sox couldn't score in either the 10th or 11th. Really! Game 3 the bullpen blew. Weissert in high leverage. Really! Don't trust him at all. The Astro series was a nightmare! Talk about not showing up! On the positive, there are 156 games left in the season.
  5. Because injuries will happen both Early and Tolle will be needed during the 2026 season.
  6. That extension that Anthony signed last year is looking better and better for the Sox.
  7. Kahnle has been on the Sox radar for a while. As the old saying goes, you can never have too much pitching. Remember the lack of pitching depth ended the Sox season in 2025.
  8. I the tough AL East I see the Sox at 90 wins. These teams are going to beat up on each other.
  9. Needs to stay on the field and then I can see this happening. Red Sox depth will allow AC to ease him in against lefties.
  10. Other than the error by Durbin and LOB number a pretty good opening day. Nice to see Mayer come off the bench with some big hits. And it doesn't surprise me that it was Anthony who had the critical pitch challenge. The pitching was great as well!
  11. Big kid! Still only 19! I think his right-handed power profiles at Fenway! If I was the Green Monster, I'd be scared!
  12. I agree! Even some of the lesser-known Sox have had their moments. Nate Eaton's HR of Skubal being an example. I think in the long run this will be beneficial for the Sox season.
  13. Looks like a good pickup for that price. The need for another lefty out of the pen has been one since December. I always wonder why these players haven't been signed yet.
  14. Barring injury Early will start the year at AAA. He will be the first to be recalled when the need arises.
  15. I am really impressed with the Sox prospect pitchers. Both Tolle and Early are ready, but will start the year at AAA. Pitching and D still wins championships, and after years of wondering why the Sox couldn't produce pitchers, they finally are doing it.
  16. I agree! The increase in power will have to come from the young guys: Anthony, Abreu, Mayer, and Rafaela, plus from his showing this spring Duran might have more power in him. I guess you could think that Contreras and Durbin may hit a few more homers because of Fenway.
  17. The Parades ship has sailed. The way Duran has looked in the spring there is no way I trade him at this point. I think the Sox will open with Durbin at third and Mayer at second.
  18. IKF signing looks more as a reaction Romy's injury. He has played some first base in the spring and can be a backup to all infield positions. If Mayer struggles against lefties, then maybe there is a platoon situation. I don't think he was every signed to be a full-time starter.
  19. I agree! I like Bregman as a player, but not at that money. I think the Sox will mist Bregman the most in the clubhouse helping the kids improve. The Sox power increase is going to have to be the young guys picking up the slack.
  20. I think the Cubs wanted Tolle or Early as part of a package for Hoerner. I like Hoerner as a player, but I think Tolle and Early were non-starters for the Sox.
  21. Pedroia played with a chip on his shoulder because all he heard was he would not make it because of his size. Hopefully, this kid has a little of that in his makeup. I'm sure he heard the same things from everyone. I'll take the numbers he put up last year and SOLID D!
  22. I'm hoping that he has figured it out. Campbell's right-handed bat would look good in the Sox lineup.
  23. I think with the balance in the AL 90 wins gets you into the playoffs. On paper the Sox improved their pitching and defense. I'm betting the pitching depth and improve D gets them in the playoffs.
  24. Not having AL and NL is a non-starter for me. Does tradition not mean anything. If you add one team to each league you can still have the traditional teams in each league. Ax
