  1. Probably just a shade over the Mendoza line.
  2. The bullpen after Koji and Tazawa continues to be horrible.
  3. Fielder has an 897 OPS and is leading the majors in hits right now so it's kind of a funny time to knock that signing.
  4. Dombrowski is out as Tigers GM.
  5. Alex Wilson is having a nice season too...
  6. The advanced metrics say Porcello was just about as good in 2013 as he was in 2014. I don't want to open up this Porcello thing all over again. I would much rather have Lester, trust me.
  7. Watched the White Sox beat the Yanks with White Sox announcers. Hawk Harrelson really is unbelievable.
  8. This is the old 20/20 hindsight deal though. Because how many times have we also said how dumb it was for the Sox not to lock Lester up for 6/120 or thereabouts when they had the chance. Porcello is making it look dumb though, that's for sure.
  9. I have often thought we need a thread devoted to the biggest, fattest pitchers in baseball history. I was just about thinking about this huge guy who pitched for the Cardinals a few years ago. I think his name was Ray King. Guy was a monster. As was Bobby Jenks.
  10. Just in: Larry is stepping down.
  11. I have to say it was pretty cool to see the reaction to Napoli's home run last night. Naps and Ortiz were as happy as little kids, even after all the misery this year.
  12. I gave up on this season a while ago. But that doesn't mean I don't hope for them to win every time they play. I do. I think everybody here does that, no matter how negative their evaluations of the team are.
  13. Sure. But now Lucchino seems to be the fall guy for any moves that smack of box office, like Sandoval, or arrogance, like the $70 million offer to Lester. And the latest is that Larry has been nudged out of the picture in favor of Werner. It seems to be anybody's guess who's running the show.
  14. By the same token, we can't trust our owners to hire someone better than Cherington.
  15. Yes, amazing as it is, I think Farrell deserves to be fired more than Cherington does.
  16. I understand. And sometimes what the analysts say is pure horseshit. In this particular case I think that's what it is. I'm not saying that Sandoval's postseason numbers weren't a factor. I'm saying they weren't the determining factor. You don't shell out 95 million for a player based on that. Just my take.
  17. Miley's been a bit of a wild card too.
  18. It's a great place. I've always enjoyed Maine myself, even when just driving through it enroute to Boston or other US locations and coming back. It's very similar to NS.
  19. Now that's fine quality entertainment...made right here in Nova Scotia.
  20. Sandoval may be a bad signing and a stupid signing, but there's no way the determining factor was his playoff numbers. I think everybody on this forum realizes you can't evaluate a player based on their playoff numbers alone, especially not one you're investing 95 million in. The average Joe Fan knows this. It's obvious. Some of these analysts just form their own conclusions based on assumption and speculation.
  21. The problem with that is you have to find a new closer for next year. They've got enough to fix at it is IMO
  22. I hope this doesn't mess with Spudboy's plans to market a new line of Fatboy shirts and collectibles.
  23. I'd say it's all looked after.
  24. Our remaining games with the Jays and O's should be fun.
