  1. OK, but you're also saying that you think Devers would be putting up better stats with the Red Sox, right? So in this case you're kind of arguing against his actual numbers.
  2. Data is very important in baseball. But it's also a very weird game.
  3. In 2026 Devers has a .706 OPS and a 101 OPS+ and a 0.2 bWAR. Sox fans wouldn't be happy with that. Our offense is horrible and we're desperate. But Devers is not having much of a season.
  4. It's ownership, in my opinion. And it's hiring CBOs with zero experience, hoping to get lucky it seems.
  5. 1 seems like a normal random result for a sample of 3.
  6. Very weak table-turner. For the record I don't really think you're a daytime drinker in spite of the bad comparison of Gray and Durbin to Harrison and Bregman.
  7. One of the all-time great sour reactions by a coach in any sport.
  8. Durbin is a good example of how OPS becomes less and less meaningful the worse the guy is. 542 almost looks productive!
  9. Recent numbers being a little better than less recent numbers is small consolation when you're at 190/254/288.
  10. Hey, at least they're giving us some statistical milestones to keep an eye on. 😝
  11. The Sox offense seemed to be picking it up a bit, but... They remain perilously close to being the lowest-scoring team in the game.
  12. But on the season he's slugging .288 and his home run was off a position player.
  13. "Harrison got lit up and Devers went 0 for 4, so the night wasn't a total loss." - Shane Schadenfreude
  14. Have you been drinking? Harrison fWAR 1.8 Bregman 1.0 = 2.8. Gray 0.8 Durbin 0.0 = 0.8. Harrison bWAR 2.7 Bregman 1.3 = 4.0. Gray 0.8 Durbin 0.7 = 1.5.
  15. Harrison has been one of the best pitchers in baseball. That's the attention-getter.
  16. Nobody was expecting us to be 27-36 on June 8 with the coaching staff long gone.
  17. No, but he's one of the top closers in the game and not under control for 2027, and the Sox are 27-36. He's a pretty good bet to be traded next month.
  18. Breslow seems to have liked Durbin too much. As of now the trade looks like a disaster.
  19. Well, he is kind of the Captain Obvious #1 pick for a player to be moved at the deadline if the team is out of it.
  20. Everybody just needs some more Vitamin W. It's the cure for all ills.
  21. And in those 6 seasons the Dodgers have 3 titles. And a 5.33 WAR is worth over 40 million. Betts's AAV is 30.4 million.
  22. LA would not have had a chance to outbid us if we signed Betts to an extension, you do realize that?
  23. Finally some positive regression perhaps. Also it's a crazy game.
  24. The Yankees just keep putting up winning records every year. Thankfully it hasn't translated to many rings lately - just 1 title since the year 2000.
