  1. Yeah, that's what I mean.
  2. It's possible that his bullpen strategy is even harder to defend than the rotation strategy.
  3. The least Ben could have done was fortify the bullpen a little. That's one of the failures that's overlooked.
  4. They have an excellent bullpen, another thing we don't.
  5. True, if there were young cost-controlled aces available at a tolerable price in prospects I would think we'd already have one.
  6. The Royals are getting Cueto.
  7. I don't think there was an automatic assumption. A strong hope, yes. It's like the Lester situation. Most people figure we could have signed him for 6 years, 110-120 million before the 2014 season started. He had a good year and ended up with 155 million.
  8. Overpaid on the salary in return for a cut on the years. If he had a good year he would've gotten 6 years in FA. It was a bet, really. So far a losing one.
  9. With you 100% on the tanking, Kimmi.
  10. I think the Porcello extension makes more sense if you look at it as a free agent signing.
  11. Wouldn't it be more fun to find out who's pitching for us the day of the game?
  12. Don't be ridiculous. Ortiz has led us to 3 World Series. Sandoval has been awful for us so far. Are you trolling us or what?
  13. 16 runs scored in 9 games since the break. What a season.
  14. IRT defense, Sandoval seems to have a case of Edgar Renteria disease. Renteria went from 11 errors in 2004 to 30 in 2005. Some guys really get messed up coming to Boston.
  15. Good enough to start some games for the 2015 Red Sox.
  16. A trade for a pitcher under control beyond 2015 is not necessarily insane.
  17. Here's a reasonable take on things from Alex Speier. There's a suggestion that Cherington should go back to being the team's farm director. https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/07/23/shoud-red-sox-rebuild-front-office-addition-roster/ZrxJupG2funttH1H367c4L/story.html
  18. Easy on the hyperbole. One dugout blowup doesn't equate to 'major clubhouse cancer'.
  19. No matter what Verlander or Porcello do we can find a way to lose this. Porcello rarely gets past the 6th, so get ready for some more bullpen fun.
  20. If he's healthy the Red Sox exercise the option, no?
  21. Our offense has now slid back down, to 5th-worst in the league in runs scored. And we play in a hitter's park so we're really even worse than that. When it comes to sucking, we are getting it done in all areas.
  22. Depends how you look at it. Some players need to be kept in line. I don't think either of these two rise to Manny's level of difficulty. I'm starting to really believe that Farrell is doing a lousy job motivating this team. It shows in a lot of areas.
  23. We're at 3.5 months now.
  24. I guess I'm kind of a Pollyanna when it comes to Buchholz because he's home-grown and he has a lot of talent. My Pollyanna says he's motivated now because of his contract situation and I think his current injury is just a legit injury, the kind that all pitchers are subject to. But I certainly get where all the knocks on him come from.
