  1. Now you're trying to cloud the issue. Was it a mistake to let Ellsbury walk or not?
  2. You say it was a mistake to let Ellsbury go. I say it wasn't. I think that's straightforward.
  3. 2015 Ellsbury: 74 games played 47 games missed .713 OPS 6 HR 26 RBI Pretty pathetic numbers. If he was doing this for the Sox, you know damn well the FO would be getting ripped for investing $153 million in him.
  4. It's very questionable that letting Ellsbury go was a mistake. He has a .736 OPS for the Yanks and has missed a lot of games. Last night the Yankee announcers were grumbling about the fact that he didn't start the game, with a RHP on the mound, and yet he was healthy enough to be brought into the game in the 7th inning.
  5. I never thought I'd see the day that Red Sox fans would be so determined to label a championship won by their team as a fluke.
  6. I was inspired by Spudboy's new avatar. But you'd have to be a fan of Trailer Park Boys to know him.
  7. Tough crowd, Thunder.
  8. That's a bit of an oversimplification. Ben's 'devotees' have speculated that the acquisitions of Panda and/or Hanley may have come from Lucchino or Werner wanting some sexy signings for the fans. We don't know exactly how many moves Ben had the final say on. But we do know he wouldn't have the final say on any moves from now on.
  9. Most if not all Sox fans give Duquette some of the credit for the 2004 championship team. It would be unreasonable not to. The argument is over how much credit. As for a 'decision', there can never be one on matters like this.
  10. Ha, are you kidding? Since 2004 one of the biggest debates on Sox message boards has been about how much credit Duquette should get for the championships. Sox fans never forget anything and will argue until doomsday about stuff like that.
  11. He did boink a crazy lady though.
  12. I don't think Cherington will regret getting out of town. He didn't want to be subject to DD's veto. He knows he'll get a job elsewhere. And we're still paying him through at least 2016 I believe.
  13. Dombrowski seems to have a pretty solid history with trades.
  14. Of course, the Red Sox didn't even have to trade any prospects to have a TOTR starter or two going into 2015.
  15. Yes, but Ben had Pedroia.
  16. As Earl Weaver once said about his Orioles, David Ortiz has crawled out of more coffins than Bela Lugosi.
  17. Here's a good analysis on Ben's downfall by Dave Cameron. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/just-a-bit-outside/story/boston-red-sox-general-manager-ben-cherington-downfall-hanley-ramirez-081915
  18. I thought you were a fan of Dick O'Connell.
  19. It could work out. But I sure hope the pre-season projections don't have us as the favorite again.
  20. I'd be satisfied if they moved one of Hanley or Panda. I don't think anybody who thinks about it wants them to move Miley. I think most people realize it's not a realistic option to move Porcello.
  21. We can talk plans and philosophies all day, but what really killed the 2015 season was simply bad moves - or moves that failed spectacularly.
  22. That's yet to be seen. We do have some promising players, no question. But we're still a very bad team as presently constituted - especially the pitching staff.
  23. I think they should move one of Hanley or Panda, whoever can be moved for the least cost.
  24. Holt has actually gotten red hot again, with 14 hits in his last 6 games. Good to see.
  25. Who would you have preferred?
