  1. Try the July 2 thread guys.
  2. And De Aza is turning out to be a superb dumpster dive.
  3. Nice to be up 5-0 at 7:18 PM.
  4. I think what's being overlooked is that the Jays were the team that matched up perfectly with what Beane wanted - a decent third baseman who is a few years younger than Donaldson, an MLB-ready young pitcher, plus other prospects. Lawrie has a 13.9 WAR in 420 MLB games. Maybe Beane wanted Bogaerts and E-Rod from us, who knows.
  5. This is kind of a big game. Ending this 10-game stretch against the ALE at 6-4 would be a positive. Ending it 5-5 would be getting nowhere.
  6. That's nonsense, I haven't been drinking koolaid at all. I've expressed plenty of unhappiness with Cherington's construction of the 2015 team. But sometimes there are reasonable explanations for why things happened or didn't happen. It's easy to just say 'Ben f***ed up' without even trying to look into it, and just dismissing any explanations that are presented as ********.
  7. I don't think they'll be doing that until they make the playoffs for the first time since 1993.
  8. Looks like the Jays gave up a pretty strong package to get Donaldson. Graveman is pitching well. Lawrie has a 1.8 WAR. Don't know much about the other 2 guys the Jays gave up. I highly doubt Billy B. would have been interested in WMB.
  9. Is this a new musical artist?
  10. That's a beautiful thing to see.
  11. CC is making 23 million - it's hard to put that kind of paycheque in the bullpen.
  12. Attendance as the #1 factor would indicate Cherington is doing fine.
  13. Very possible. But what 700hitter was talking about, and what I was also referring to, are moves that make us better now and improve our chances for making the playoffs.
  14. I find it credible in light of how long it took Duquette to get another GM job.
  15. From many accounts that I've read though, Duquette was acting like a paranoid nutjob toward the end of his tenure. I think that may have been part of the issue with him.
  16. Any move Ben makes at this point also has a strong possibility of blowing up in his face. Nobody's out to do us any favors.
  17. Ortiz's best months have always been June and July (and October).
  18. The 6 innings, 3 earned runs is of course the bare minimum for a QS. That point can't be stressed enough (LOL). I guarantee that a pitcher who produces a high number of QS's will have an ERA much lower than 4.50 in those starts. There is also the High Quality Start which I believe has a minimum of 7 innings, 2 earned runs. I agree with Palodios that 9 innings, 4 earned runs should be a QS, not that it happens very often.
  19. Failure may have been foreseeable. Destroying his ability to throw strikes and ending his career in the big leagues was not IMO. I don't think there are other cases quite like Bard's. They called it Steve Blass Syndrome, but Blass was always a starter, it just happened to him out of nowhere.
  20. What happened to Bard was rare and unforeseeable, IMO. Countless other guys go back and forth between starting and relieving without this kind of disaster occurring.
