  1. Max Fried is on his way.
  2. The Cardinals are currently 8 games ahead of the Sox in the standings.
  3. People just want to feel better about the Red Sox and believe that Mookie didn't want to be here. It helps them reconcile with Mookie being gone. They believe there was no chance of him staying. However, if Henry just put down the right contract, he'd still be here.
  4. Betts wanted fair market value. Sox didn't want to give it to him. Can't blame Betts for wanting 350M+. Sox wouldn't even get to 300!
  5. It's fine to put chips in young pieces, but don't then have Roman bat leadoff and expect him to put up MVP numbers. He still needs a little protection. Let him mature before you put the entire org on his back. Marcelo was rushed up last season. He never really knocked the door down in AAA. KC was rushed last year and it didn't work out either.
  6. As for Chapmans, I've heard some fans really yearning for Matt Chapman. Just don't know if I want that contract through 2030! Sox aren't competing this year and next year may be a "just get back into the playoffs" run. Sox need to start building around a younger core. Unless Chapman is on a deep discount, it doesn't make sense to have an aging player like him at 3b. Lowell was toast after 34. Youk was done about the same age. Arenado seems to really like hitting in AZ, but he's going in the wrong direction at that age.
  7. And Chapman may not stick around for '27 anyway. It's a MUTUAL option, not a team option. Deal him.
  8. Maybe early on, but he held on for a few too many years.
  9. Sox had a long look at him IN THEIR SYSTEM and chose to let him go. He's now got 2 bWAR pitching for MIL and it's not even June yet.
  10. Sam was asked about potential trades: “But yeah, if the question are Craig (Breslow) and the team in baseball operations are trying to improve the team right now? The answer is yes. Will we be able to get a deal done or match up on something? I have no idea is the truth. But there’s conversations. There’s urgency. That’s something that is important.” The lack of May sellers in the American League means it will take a significant haul to land an impact bat. At this point, the demand outweighs the supply.
  11. I've read your posts for several years. I'm pretty sure that's what it looks like when you log in.
  12. An ERA below 3 is still pretty good! Interesting that Brez gave up on him in that deal.
  13. Unlike a certain poster, I didn't want to sign Manaea. It's not that Brayan Bello's contract makes him untradeable, just that it greatly diminishes the return.

  15. Bassitt 3/63 (21 AAV) was a fine deal for TOR. Eovaldi's first deal with TEX was fine. His second deal is up for debate (almost 4 fWAR last year). Do you feel like we missed out on Robbie Ray?
  16. The implication is that he needs to stop giving up the longball. A soft tossing lefty who gets barreled doesn't have a very high ceiling.
  17. Giolito got injured AFTER getting signed, but was useful his second year.
  18. Bello added a year plus a club option.
  19. Tolle has the much higher ceiling. Early seems like a 3-4. Tolle seems like a 2-3 and maybe a 1-2 at his peak. So many guys go down with injuries now that it's really hard to project who won't get injured. Now that Tolle has a more refined pitch mix, it's much harder to deal him.
