    He's just underperforming right now. He was a slow starter last season, this season and coming of the IL. Maybe he gets hot for the playoffs.

    A 3 week sample seems fine to me. It's how they are playing right now. It can certainly change, which is what Stats alludes to.

    Roman has a 741 OPS since coming off the IL. Mickey has a 754 OPS since the start of the BAL series. The only thing we can note is they have both been making great contact and the results may just be small sample size variance. I personally wouldn't start Duran against FB heavy Schlittler or Cole. Would probably even need to sit him against LHP Fried. Roman starts all 3 in NYC. Jones vs LHP. Mickey vs RHP.

    There's a difference between watching a game and venting about a player you don't like and just being so overly negative that it distorts your view of a successful season. I try to give people a lot of grace for their behavior in game threads. Most people enjoy watching the Red Sox and want them to win. It's only a small minority of people that believe the sky is always falling or that the only good season is one that ends in a parade.

    The Rafaela injury was just maintenance. Guerrero had really fallen off. I think they were giving him time off to see if his stuff would return. Contreras is a bigger concern to me. He has struggled since the concussion. Pre-concussion 943 OPS Post-concussion 762 OPS

    Castro had another 2 tater night (5 in his last 4 G). His season OPS is now up to 710.

    The 2018 team had some bums. The 2018 team in totality were not bums. I think it's fair to critique a specific performance "they were bums tonight" after a bad loss. I think it wouldn't be fair to critique them as a whole. I don't remember pumpsie being on the forum in 2018 so I can't tell you if he was calling them flops back then as well. 🤷‍♂️

    I have been told that there are studies that show that hot or cold streaks in September have little to no impact on playoff outcomes.
