    I think Roman comes up first. If Adley is healthy, Gasper goes down. If Adley isn't, Seigler goes down. If Story is ready to go as well, add Mona to the uber if Gasper needs to still be up for Adley. Otherwise, it's Seigler and Gasper are the first two out the door IMO. I'm not rooting for those moves, it's just my guess as to what they'll do. I really like Seigler. I think that's just the direction they are going (bench: Sogard - good glove and versatile, Mona - good bat and probably backs up Story until IKF is promoted).

    You also said players "hover in limbo until the lineup card is announced." Unless you are a bench player, that really isn't the case. Rafaela has enough versatility to play MIF, RF and CF, but I don't think they should ever move him from CF again. Wong was initially seen as a C/UTIL guy, but they've seem to have scrapped the UTIL role from him. There are always going to be emergency reasons to move someone, but lineup cards are generally predictable.

    He's a better add than Story. He has patient AB's and has a good glove at SS.

    I believe they were planning on playing him at 3b at the time, but were leaving their options open depending on other trades available to them (Marte/Paredes). This doesn't mean they had any intention of moving him around willy nilly during the season. Also, it would have been a mistake to move him off of 3b.

    Durbin has played 0 innings at any position other than 3b for the Red Sox.

    The Red Sox like Durbin because he played GG caliber 3b. The Brewers like Hamilton because they thought they could turn him into the next Durbin at 3b.

    Just because the Red Sox don't have a fulltime one, doesn't mean they no longer exist. 20 teams have had players with 80+ games at SS. Guys that missed the cut: Wilson, Lindor, Seager, Griffin. The vast majority of teams have a starting SS and would like that guy to play 80%+ of their games.

    They have "interesting" internal defensive metrics from the reports I've heard. They liked Hamilton at SS. They still like Story at SS. They believe Roman can play RF at Fenway.

    All hot streaks eventually come to an end. Now that the Sox are reaching September, they need to figure out what the real rotation needs to be down the stretch. They are going to run out time messing around with hot and cold streaks. They held onto Gasper too long the last go around and he had a 542 OPS over has last 25 games. Sogard can play several positions and has a AAAA bat. Monasterio's glove is worse than Sogie's, but has a marginally better bat. Seigler seems to be a high energy guy and hits RHP well. If Adley is ok, they will send Gasper down when Anthony comes back. For Story, they'll send Seigler down. If they bring IKF back, maybe Monasterio?

    Roman does have a 1221 OPS TBF. Romy is just sporting a 717.

    Olds has been pretty lucky with that BB rate he's carrying. He's a guy that is just destined to give up a big inning here and there.

    For Hamilton? They were talking about him taking over at 3b from what I remember.

    I don't think that's going to stop the Sox from bringing him up.

    The Red Sox were saying that their internal models thought Hamilton would hold up well at SS, not that they ever gave him significant run there.
