  1. And after like 5 trades, there's a lot less "powder" than ownership thinks.
  2. If people were giving up on Mayer, they wouldn't be projecting him to start and would be throwing him in every imaginable trade.
  3. It's not even OBP. He wants to be seen as king of the k zone. That's why he yells ball after every pitch. He wants to look like the smartest boy in the batter's box. I know he's a unique guy, I just wish he was a little more aggressive. I wish players watched less called 3rd strikes and knew how to foul off a pitch like they used to.
  4. The only IF signing was IKF. He's fine as a backup. I don't see how anyone could possibly care about him when Story and Mayer will be starting and have a history of missing significant time. Alonso and Schwarber are both DH's TBH. The Sox could have put them at 1b, but it would have been dumb. Sox would have still needed to figure out 1B until Casas was ready and we really don't know if that will be the case. At this point, we know the ultimate ceiling of this club may always be dictated by however much JH wants to spend. He should spend more. Most of us agree with that. It's just not the reality we live in.
  5. Harper is overrated and is a LHB. I'd rather keep the short term contract in Contreras. Don't see DD taking the last two deals.
  6. His best OPS season was '23 when he only had a 27% called 3rd strike %. I believe the higher % shows more passivity at the plate. I want him to be more aggressive and show off his power rather than look for a walk. If his overall career looking strike % is 26.8% with any count, why is it 32.9% with 2 strikes? Shouldn't it be lower if he knows the zone so well? It's because he's actively looking for a walk rather than fouling off or driving a pitch.
  7. So if they made a lot more moves and spent more money, would they be a better team?
  8. Very few trades happen during the season it feels like. Unless they are planning on holding onto everyone until the deadline.
  9. There's the car salesman we all know.
  10. Here's his k looking % by year. 23.1 is the MLB average.
  11. So no Conteras, Gray and Suarez, but Alonso and Schwarber? Terrible defense. Pitching is a big question mark. The current team is better TBH.
  12. If they sign Schwarber instead of Suarez and make no other corresponding moves to this roster, it's a very terrible roster (Casas AND Masa AND Schwarber AND Duran all playing DH?). I believe that Contreras will be better than Alonso over the next 2 seasons.
  13. Song could get to BOS quick if his stuff ticks up. I think Wu-Yellend might get to AAA soon and push the envelope as a LH reliever (high k rate).
  14. Guys not on the 40 that could make MLB in the near future Mullins Song Holobetz Wu-Yellend Mullins may only take longer to get to BOS if they try to have him start.
  15. Gee, I wonder who it was that Dombrowski didn't get along with in this organization and was annoyed that would show up at whole bunch of meetings unannounced... 🤔
  16. The only way the Yanks miss the playoffs is if Judge hits the IL. They are near locks year in and year out now with expanded playoffs.
  17. Depends on the hitter TBH. Casas? Should be swinging. Working a long count? Fine. Watching a close called 3rd strike? Not ok. Working the count is fine these days with starting pitchers no longer able to go beyond 100 pitches. If the team has a bad bullpen, try to get to it early.
  18. Doesn't make sense.
  19. Castro is a switch hitter and he really struggles against LHP. I wonder if his LH swing will get a bump in WOO. He won't get platooned in the near future, but if he can't start hitting vs LHP he's going to be out of the system at some point.
  20. SP currently states Early has a ceiling of a third starter and it's based on his velo only. The way they look at pitchers is purely "if this guy throws hard and has command he'll have a high ceiling with good secondaries" he'll get a TOTR projection. With Early, he has a great pitch mix and his velo is just a tick under what the want to see. Unfortunately, that has caused them to underrate Early going back to his first professional season. They've always been high AF on Tolle because of the velo ("ceiling of a 2 but that may be light'). We have seen how those two have pitched. Early may just be closer to a finished product and may be more likely to reach his ceiling. Maybe he can even be better than what SP projects? They didn't put #3 in his scouting report until last season so he's already pushing that projection higher. Casas will most likely start on the IL then rehab at AAA. Not sure how they'd have Masa and Casas on the active roster together. There would need to be some sort of move made.
  21. Calling a team that you are projecting to win 90 games "Flops" is a little silly IMO.
  22. "It's great to be working for FSG. I love my job. I have a nice salary, get lots of dividends and provide my great insight in many cool meetings. Why wouldn't everyone want to work here?!?" - SK
  23. Pythagorus said that you should have gone 76-86 in '21. Very weird roster.
  24. “You can’t replace someone like Raffy,” Kennedy said. Even if you believe this, why say it? This guy is so dumb.
