  1. Juan Soto is not a good defender and that's not the direction this team is going! Need to win with pitching and defense! 😎
  2. They are 5M over the 2nd threshold. It gets them closer to getting under it. 🤑
  3. Oneil Cruz is a HORRIBLE CFer. He's a corner OFer in everything, but starting position. They didn't choose between Paredes and Durbin. They couldn't pull the trigger on a Paredes deal and I'm not sure HOU really wanted to trade him to begin with. If they did want to trade him, Brez really messed up. Durbin was the booby prize and they overpaid for him. They spent more on Durbin than they would have on Paredes.
  4. Having Duran/Rafaela/Masa/Anthony/Abreu all on the same unit doesn't work. Unless you are making Anthony a fulltime DH, two guys gotta go. Rafaela is your best option at CF. Abreu is great at RF. Sitting Duran doesn't work to keep him on track. DH'ing Duran doesn't work. Masa doesn't have the power profile that this team needs for a DH.
  5. Breslow has clearly done a tremendous job reconfiguring the pitching development. However, the hitter side has fallen off the map. I have no faith that they can know how to handle every day players ATM.
  6. Sorry, they're stuck with him! Should have kept Bloom for another year or two.
  7. Low level reliever? A ball flier? That's the return for IKF. It's just getting the contract off the books and swapping him with Capra/Seigler/somebody else.
  8. The problem with Grissom was that he had no options remaining and the Sox didn't want to commit to giving him a bench role. They didn't like his defense and didn't know where to play him. He's at the corners for LAA. A RHB with 92 wRC+ at 3b? 👀He's at least outhitting Monasterio. An IF bench of IKF/Grissom would have been fine.
  9. I don't think rival executives will be fooled by his current OPS.
  10. Trading legit prospects, which is what SF would want, for guys that were just FA's is a ridiculous way to do business. You could have had them a few offseasons ago if you wanted them! Why now? Because you're desperate? It'd be one of the dumbest decisions the Sox could ever do.
  11. If he was only here for two more years? Sure. Not through 2031! 😬
  12. 1. Agreed. There is no Tayron Guerrero in MLB. It's Tyron Guerrero. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=guerrta01&t=p&year=2026 2. 3.62 FIP
  13. If we want guys that hit 750+, it shouldn't be Adames since he's only hit 747 since the beginning of 2022.
  14. You can only play so many 1b, LF and RFers.
  15. Alonso's contract ends before Adames's. Marte is a better player than Adames. Bregman is a better clubhouse guy than anyone else listed. I'm not making a case for Eugenio.
  16. I don't think that's the premise of the article. The org pushes exit velo and lifting the ball. If you look down on the farm, they are pushing guys to increase exit velo year over year. GRE is towards the top of their league in HR. Arias has a career high in HR and it's only May. The problem is that the BOSTON Red Sox were drawn up horribly. Adding Caleb Durbin was a huge mistake. Keeping Yoshida around doesn't make sense. Roman Anthony has had a tremendously high GB% his whole pro career. You can't rely on him to bring thump to a lineup. Marcelo was promoted too early and is now learning on the job. Having half of your lineup be punch and judy hitters (even more when you are relying on called up AAA hitters and Duran is slumping) is why the Sox got to where they are. Sox need to blow it up. DFA/Trade Story and Masa. Trade Duran for parts. Send Durbin to AAA so that he can play every day. There are calls to trade Contreras, but I think he's doing a good job mentoring Rafaela (career high 117 wRC+) and Abreu. The Sox need to keep some veteran leadership around.
  17. And TBH, I don't think buying a FA means you have to extract every $ out of the contract for it to be worthwhile. You have to overpay to make your team better. The last two seasons are probably just written off anyway. If Story wasn't a mess of injuries, we probably look at his contract differently.
  18. It shows how mediocre the Sox are and that they aren't really in it. If they are the 10th best team in the AL, who freakin' cares? That stinks! Change the channel. Go for a walk. Read a book.
  19. Sox are at 22-30. If they go 2-6 over their next 8 games (3 ATL, 3 CLE, 2 BAL), they'll match the 2020 Sox record.
  20. We already hate Trevor Story. Why add Adames and Chapman? Bobby Witt Sr? I think he retired some time ago. You can't be thinking the Sox would actually get Jr. Turang plays for the Brewers, a team that is constantly in playoff contention. He's going nowhere. Edwards doesn't hit the ball hard and is a switch hitter. Brez would have no interest in him.
