I’m not going to cry about missing out on Alonso, who I’ve never thought of a built for Fenway  (unless you like wall-ball singles).  The Sox were 7th in MLB in runs scored and lost Bregman and Toro/Lowe.  It wasn’t hard hard to envision status quo there, which plenty of pundits did…

7th isnt good enough, and I saw a few pundits put us around 18 for expected runs in 2026.

Can't get RBI's if guys are not getting on base in front of you. Is that the only thing you're judging by is RBIs???

And I’ll say again the numbers for the 2026 season is in the books. 16 more RBI just on HR alone than the Con Man.

He probably still wants Renfroe back.

You guys are coming up with all kinds of excuses, but like I said you can’t change the numbers for 2026. How many Red Sox outside of Raffy have put up the numbers he did since he left?

Repeat this 129 times:

ABs

115 RISP 52 RBIs Willson (45%) / 143 ABs and 60 Pete (42%)

198 Men on Base 67 RBI (34%)/ 277 and 95 Pete (34%)

250 Nobody on base 14 RBI (6%)/ 325 and 25 Pete (8%)

The only better RBIs/AB by Pete was with bases empty.

Continue your meaningless rant.

It's facts not excuses.

Now, you act like I didnt want Alonso. I wanted his 100+ RBIs, but he might not have gotten 100 with 3 guys around a .310 OBP in front of him. Solo homers only go so far, and he wasn't about to hit 45 solo blasts for the Sox.

You guys can come up with all the ifs, ands, and buts all you want, but you can’t change the actual numbers that happened this year, and is in the books for 2026. I’m just going on the actual numbers themselves that is in the books, and what numbers Alonso, and the Con Man actually put up. You can try all you want, but you can’t change actual numbers? I guess Alonso has just been lucky all these years to hit a Lot More homers, and RBI than the Con Man in their careers.

They were trying to cut payroll. Their roster management is kind of a mess right now and they don't really need more long term deals. I believe they have the oldest roster in MLB.

according to this, the Phillies are at 10 and just younger than the Red Sox. surprising to me was Tampa having the oldest.

Actual numbers in the books is all I care about. You care about all these other things, and you can’t change what actually happened this year no matter how many things you come up with. If it makes you feel better, and it obviously does look at it your way, but it still won’t change the actual stats that happened this year.

Thanks. The numbers I cited were from this year.

Do care about them.

I agree, but 7th might have got us farther in 2026.

In 2025, we were 10th in runs allowed (676.) THis year, we were 3rd at 611. (65 run difference)

We scored 689 this year (23rd. ) Last year, we scored 786 (7th.) A 97 run difference and nearly the same record.

Imagine 611 runs allowed and 786 scored. That's a team that should advance farther. (+175 would blow all AL teams away.)

MIL was +214 and LAD +201. The Sox woulda been 3rd.

Yes, but that’s not changing the stats that each player actually put up this year, and there is nothing you can do to change that. Alonso is still going to have 16 more homers, 32 more RBI, 32 more runs scored, and played 31 more games than Con Man, and he’s put up better numbers his whole career than the Con Man. How it all happened I don’t care.  Call it luck, circumstances, or just plain ability I DON’T CARE, and the back of the bubblegum card doesn’t care either.👋

Who changed any stats?

Every number I presented were actual numbers- not projections.

I guess only bubblegum card numbers are real in your world.

We all care about total HRs and RBIs, but some of us see the world is not just black and white. It's not changing facts- it's seeing there are more facts if you care to look.

I'm fine with you not caring, but don't lie and call it changing numbers. Adding context is not changing anything.

Alonso had more HRs and RBIs than Contreras- nobody denies it or is trying to change that. He had way more chances, and a lesser batter may or may not have had more than he did, had he had way more chances. That's a fact, too.

Nothing is being changed.

Right. Actual numbers.

How many home runs would Alonso have hit at Fenway?  How many RBIs without Taylor Ward, etc. on base in front of him?  If you want to use “real numbers”, the ones from Baltimore aren’t necessarily useful.

But hey, you only waited a year to get on the Alonso bandwagon…

I called getting Alonso over Bregman. Instead we got Bregman and in doing so, lied and insulted Devers. Now we have none. The Red Sox are stupid.

I agree on Alonso, and as I said before last offseason started I would have signed Alonso, and Schwaber. Schwaber was more of a pipe dream, but those were the two best options out there for power bats.  Agree also on Devers. As for the Red Sox being stupid I just think they took the cheaper way out.
